😘. Head rubbing - sometimes known as butting or bunting - is a behavior cats learn as kittens with their mother. It’s an affectionate gesture that can also be used as a form of greeting and marking you with their scent in a show of affiliation and to build a connection with you.

Cats have scent glands located in their cheeks, forehead and chins so they use this adorable technique to get information about the new people they meet, and to invite you into their group.

As an emergency vet, when a patient comes into the hospital it’s usually the first time we meet, so it was nice that this kitty gave me his seal of approval 🐈 😊
