Meet Meiji, our newly survived parvo viral infection patient 🐶

After days of confinement and treatment, Meiji is now back to our clinic to receive her 5in1 vaccine shot.

Prevention:
- Puppies should be vaccinated every 3-4 weeks between the ages 6 and 16 weeks.

2 cases of urinary stones in dogs

The most common signs that a dog has bladder stones are hematuria (blood in the urine) and dysuria (straining to urinate). Hematuria occurs because the stones rub against the bladder wall, irritating and damaging the tissue and causing bleeding. Dysuria may result from inflammation and swelling of the bladder wall or the urethra (the tube that transports the urine from the bladder to the exterior of the body), from muscle spasms, or from a physical obstruction of urine flow.

If you suspect that your pet may have this kind of case, contact your veterinarian immediately.

UTI in cats
Perineal Urethrostomy (PU)

Most of your cats with urinary tract infection will make frequent trips to their litterbox and seem restless. They go in box and strain to urinate but sometimes produce very small amount of urine or no urine at all. In most cases, UTI’s are usually caused by bacteria. Crystals, stones, or debris can gradually build up in your cats urethra connecting to the bladder which causes the obstruction.

In this case (male cat), recurrent urethral obstruction happened (3 times) so we decided to do perineal urethrostomy. Perineal urethrostomy (PU) is a surgical procedure that creates a new urinary opening that decreases the length of the urethra and allows urine to bypass this narrowed region.

If you suspect that your pet may have this kind of case, contact your veterinarian immediately.

Umbilical Hernia

An umbilical hernia is an outward bulging of the abdominal lining, abdominal fat, or a portion of abdominal organ through the area around the umbilicus.

In this case, a portion of abdominal organ was trapped and strangulated that lead to discoloration of the hernia meaning the blood flow is cut off to the tissue. This is an emergency requiring immediate surgery.

If you suspect that your pet may have this kind of case, contact your veterinarian immediately.

Breeding, pregnancy, CS/whelping is a challenge and a somewhat stressful journey for you and your dog. This is a gentle reminder that before you subject yourself and specially your dog to undergo such process please read, read, read! Remember to:

1. Breed to improve
2. Understand the commitment
3. Choose a suitable mate
4. Consult a veterinarian

Puppies are adorable indeed but let us not overlook the mother dog who's gone through a lot of bodily changes and stress for the whole 60-65 days pregnancy journey. Great job Shasha! ♥️

Canine Scabies (Sarcoptic Mange)

This is Baron which was diagnosed with Canine Scabies. Intense pruritus is characteristic and probably due to hypersensitivity to mite products. Primary lesions consist of papulocrustous eruptions with thick, yellow crusts, excoriation, erythema, and alopecia. Secondary bacterial and yeast infections may develop. Dogs with chronic, generalized disease develop seborrhea, severe thickening of the skin with fold formation and crust buildup.
Sarcoptic mange is readily transmitted between dogs by direct contact and to people; transmission by indirect contact may also occur.

If you suspect that your pet may have this kind of case, contact your veterinarian immediately.

Canine Demodicosis

This is Cha-Cha which was diagnosed with canine demodicosis. The usual signs/ lesions of this case are alopecia, erythema, and scaling. Lesions are usually confined to areas around the lips, periorbital area, and forelimbs but may be found in other locations. Pruritus is usually absent or mild. The mites (galis) are transmitted from dam to puppies during nursing within the first 72 hr after birth.

If you suspect that your pet may have this kind of case, contact your veterinarian immediately.
