🐹 Campbell's Dwarf Hamster
⏺️SCIENTIFIC NAME: Phodopus campbelli
⏺️ADULT SIZE: 2 to 4 inches long on average, weighing around 1 to 2 ounces
⏺️LIFESPAN: 2 to 3 years
⏺️FACTS:
✅It was given its common name by Oldfield Thomas in honor of Charles William Campbell, who collected the first specimen in Mongolia on July 1,1902.
✅They are nocturnal animals so they will be most active in the evening and at night.
✅They are prone to diabetes so it’s always best to stay on the safe side so always feed a balanced diet.
✅Provide your hamster with chewy foods and toys to help grind down their teeth – a hamster’s teeth never stop growing!
✅A shorter lifespan can sometimes be ideal for new pet owners or children. There’s no need for a 10+ year commitment like you’d need with a dog or even some species of fish!
📶HOW TO TAKE CARE:
〽️ Provide a large enough cage that your pet can’t escape from.
〽️Feed your hamster a balanced diet with daily fresh water.
〽️Provide forms of enrichment in hamster toys and exercise wheels. A good hamster wheel is essential as these animals love to run.
〽️A ceramic hamster bowl is a must.
〽️The only other thing to remember is weekly cage cleaning!
〽️Try to avoid placing your hamster cage in direct sunlight.
〽️Provide a clean and dust-free bedding material for your hamster to live in.
〽️Always keep a safe hiding place in the cage for your hammie.
〽️Ideal Temperature: Between 65 and 75 degrees. Hammie needs to be in a spot that offers suitable ventilation, but isn't very drafty.

❤️Tomato leaves, raw potatoes, carrots, dark chocolate and white bread should be avoided because of the high sugar content. Other foods to avoid are uncooked kidney beans, biscuits, raisins, sprouts, garlic and onions, because of the risk of toxicity. Avoid citrus fruits, like oranges and lemons because they're too acidic. Only small amount of corn, white rice, bread and grape to make sure you don't contribute to a diabetes risk, steer clear of fatty nuts, sugary fruits, salty snacks, sweets, or refined products
