Be sure your dogs are protected!
🐾This dog (kitkat) were presented to the clinic showing signs of anorexia,lethargy, lameness and heavy tick infestation. Turns out Ehrlichia positive!
💡 Ehrlichiosis is a bacterial disease in dogs caused by the bite of an infected tick. Canine ehrlichiosis is a tick-borne disease of dogs caused by infection with the bacteria Ehrlichia canis (E. canis). Dogs become infected after being bitten by an infected tick, primarily the brown dog tick. Ehrlichiosis is a bacterial infection that primarily infects the cells of the immune system. Ehrlichiosis is a serious disease that can cause life-threatening complications. The bacteria can affect all dogs. To help protect your dog from infection: maintain an effective tick and flea prevention and control program. Give ANTI TICK & FLEA regularly.
Some of the signs of Ehrlichiosis include:
- lethargy
- loss of appetite
- lameness
- fever or low body temperature (hypothermia)
- vomiting
- severe, often bloody, diarrhea.
- nosebleeding
If your puppy or dog shows any of these signs, you should contact your veterinarian immediately.
