History:
Yuri was brought to the clinic due to lethargy, inappetence and high fever.
He tested positive with feline panleukopenia, feline coronavirus and giardiasis. He was confined and fortunately had shown great response to medications!
He is still under take home medications and hopefully will fully recover quickly. 🙏See you on your follow up Yuri! 😊🐾

FEATURED CASE: PYOMETRA
Pyometra- a serious and life-threatening infection of the uterus. This can occur in entire (not neutered) female dogs. The uterus will expand and fill with pus, toxins and bacteria (As shown in image )
Pyometra can be open or closed. Open pyometra, the cervix remains open, purulent discharge will drain from the vulva. A fever, lethargy, anorexia and depression may or may not be present in all cases 🌡
Closed pyometra, the cervix remains closed and discharge formed in the uterus remains and cannot be drained. This will cause a distended abdomen. Dog with closed pyometra becomes very sick very quickly with clinical signs of: anorexia, listless, depressed, vomiting and diarrhoea ❗️
If a closed pyometra is not treated it will result in the uterus rupturing and spreading infected bacteria to abdominal cavity ⚠️

Look 👀 at these mites (Sarcoptes scabiei) we found on our patient today!
Sarcoptic mange is caused by a parasitic mite (Sarcoptes scabiei) that burrows just beneath the surface of the skin. This is HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS to other animals and even to people. Symptoms include intense itching, hair loss, red pustules and crusting of the skin.
If your dog is showing those symptoms mentioned, better get them checked. 👀
