Dr. Marvin did a great job for his incredibly informative and vital talk on "Rabies: Myths & Facts" at the Dauin Pet Fair yesterday! 🎤

He did a fantastic job debunking common misconceptions and arming pet owners with the knowledge they need to keep their families—both two-legged and four-legged—safe. We hope everyone who attended left feeling more confident and informed!

📌 Key takeaways from his talk:

✔️ Myth Busted: Not all animals with rabies are aggressive; sometimes they're just unnaturally quiet or tame-acting.

✔️ Critical Fact: Rabies is 100% preventable through timely vaccination of our pets.

It’s talks like these that make our community stronger and our pets healthier. Thank you, Dr. Marvin, for your passion and expertise!

This July, as we observe Parvo Awareness Month in the Philippines, it's essential to educate dog owners about the risks posed by Canine Parvovirus. This highly contagious viral illness can have devastating effects, especially on puppies and unvaccinated dogs.

During this rainy season, conditions are ripe for the virus to spread, which makes raising awareness even more critical. By understanding the severe symptoms—such as intense vomiting, bloody diarrhea, fatigue, and loss of appetite—dog owners can act swiftly if their pets show signs of illness. Promoting good hygiene practices and ensuring timely vaccinations are key steps in preventing the spread of this dangerous virus.

Through collective efforts during Parvo Awareness Month, we can help protect our canine companions and reduce the incidence of this serious disease.

**🐶⚠️ **Hookworms in Dogs – What Every Pet Owner Should Know!** ⚠️🐾**

Did you know hookworms are one of the most common—and dangerous—parasites in dogs?

These tiny invaders can cause serious health problems, but the good news is they’re treatable and preventable!

🔹 **How Do Dogs Get Hookworms?**

✔️ Ingesting larvae from contaminated soil or water
✔️ Skin contact (larvae burrow through paws or belly)
✔️ From their mother’s milk (puppies are especially at risk!)

🔹 **Signs Your Dog May Have Hookworms:**

➡️ **Pale gums** (anemia)
➡️ **Weakness or lethargy**
➡️ **Weight loss & poor appetite**
➡️ **Bloody or dark, tarry stools**
➡️ **Itchy paws or skin irritation**

🔹 **Why Act Fast?**

Hookworms feed on blood and can cause life-threatening anemia, especially in puppies. Severe cases may require hospitalization and blood transfusions.

🔹 **Treatment & Prevention:**

✅ **Deworming medication** (prescribed by your vet)
✅ **Regular f***l tests** (at least 1-2x/year)
✅ **Keep yards clean** (pick up p**p promptly!) ✅ **Monthly preventatives** (ask your vet about parasite control)

**🚨 If you notice any symptoms, see your vet ASAP!**

Early treatment saves lives. Have you dealt with hookworms before? Share your experience or tips in the comments to help other dog owners! 💙🐕

**⚠️ Warning: Maggots in Dogs – What You Need to Know! ⚠️**

Discovering **maggots** on your dog can be alarming, but quick action can prevent serious harm!

🔹 **How Does It Happen?**
Maggots (fly larvae) infest open wounds, dirty fur, or moist skin, especially in hot weather. Flies lay eggs, which hatch into maggots that feed on dead tissue—or worse, healthy flesh.

🔹 **Signs to Watch For:**
✔️ Visible maggots (often in ears, under fur, or near wounds)
✔️ Foul odor
✔️ Excessive licking or scratching
✔️ Swelling, redness, or oozing

🔹 **What to Do IMMEDIATELY:**
✅ **Do NOT pull maggots out yourself**—improper removal can cause more damage.
✅ Take your dog to the **vet ASAP**—they’ll safely remove maggots and treat infection.
✅ Keep wounds clean & dry to prevent reinfestation.

🔹 **Prevention Tips:**
✔️ Regularly check your dog’s skin, especially if they have wounds or thick fur.
✔️ Keep them clean & dry, especially after outdoor play.
✔️ Use vet-approved fly repellents if needed.

**Maggot infestations (myiasis) can become life-threatening quickly—don’t wait!** If you suspect maggots, seek veterinary care immediately.

Please vaccinate your pets ‼️

Pinaalalahanan ng DOH ang mga pet owner na responsibilidad nila ang pagbabakuna sa mga alagang hayop kontra rabies, na maaaring makuha mula sa kagat o kalmot ng mga ito.

Look at gummy’s vacation escapade ‼️

Gummy is taking a short vacation after he was castrated. If the resemblance isn’t obvious, gummy is actually loaffees sibling (loaffee is our clinic dog by the way) and he is just as chill and non challant as his brother.

Isn’t he a cutie?

🐾 Understanding Urethrostomy in Dogs 🐾

Has your furry friend been struggling with urinary blockages or chronic urinary issues? A **urethrostomy** might be recommended by your vet to help improve their quality of life.

🔹 **What is a Urethrostomy?**
It’s a surgical procedure that creates a new, permanent opening in the urethra (usually near the base of the p***s in male dogs) to bypass obstructions or strictures, allowing easier urine flow.

🔹 **Why is it Needed?**
Common reasons include:
✔️ Recurrent urinary blockages (common in male dogs)
✔️ Bladder stones or urethral stones
✔️ Severe trauma or scarring in the urethra

🔹 **Post-Op Care Tips:**
✅ Keep the surgical site clean & dry
✅ Use an e-collar to prevent licking
✅ Monitor for signs of infection (redness, swelling, discharge)
✅ Follow vet instructions for pain meds & antibiotics

If your dog has undergone this surgery or is considering it, feel free to ask questions below or share your experience! Let’s help our pups live happier, healthier lives. 💙

Another succesful operation‼️

Dystocia or difficulty in giving birth can happen to any dog and they sometimes may need delivery assistance or an emergency caesarian section.

This cute doggie managed to dodge the bullet and was succesfully operated on with 4 healthy puppies.
