Yoyo was diagnosed with late stage Parvoviral infection. He could not even stand nor respond phyically. The onmy indication we had that he was alive was because of his vitals.
Fortunately, after a few days of confinement he managed to fight back this dangerous disease and managed to recovery fully. We are often amazed on how our patients bounce back after encountering this disease. The key here is to immediately bring your dogs to the clinic whenever you notice even the mildest of concerns. Vaccines are available and the condition is totally preventable.

Myiasis or maggot infestation occurs when fly lay their eggs on moist areas or wounds of the skin.
When hatched, these maggots can cause devastating effects and will usually dig deep inside the skin causing so much pain and discomfort. The opening is usually relatively small which can be missed especially for hairy dogs but the damage will usually spread wide. Think of it as a volcano where the crater is small but the inside is quite large and the maggots are eating our dog alive.
The first line of treatment is to usually remove these maggots as much as possible and clean off thw wound.
As owners, we can avoid this by always checking the skin of our furrpets especially if they are outside dogs. Regular bathes once a week or every 2 weeks can help us detect these. Regular checks will also ensure that our pets well checked and the veterinarian can recommend measures to better prevent these pesky fly from ever attaching to our pet.
