" Happy Ginger Cat Day"

Don't forget to share photo's of your adorable GINGER CAT'S 🧡🐾😻

Ginger Cat Appreciation Day is celebrated on September 1st. The day is all about giving cats love! Ginger cats are also often referred to as “tiger” cats.

Ginger Cat Day History 🧡

Ginger Cat Appreciation Day comes around every year on September 1st. Chris Roy came up with the idea to commemorate his sweet 15-pound ginger cat, Doobert, who died in 2014. Doobert and Roy became a pair in 1997 when the software engineer found a stray kitten and adopted him. The two enjoyed almost two decades together before Doobert died at 17.

Ginger Cat Behavior 🧡

Ginger cats love to talk. Anyone who has lived with one of these orange cats will tell you that they're very talkative. While other cat species often only vocalise when they are hungry or want to go outside, gingers seem to use their voices for their own amusement as well as that of their parents. Their social vocalisations produce a variety of sounds such as chirps and trills. Ginger cats are perceived to be friendlier and more affectionate with humans. Ginger cats love to sit on their humans’ laps and even nap on their shoulders. They give plenty of headbutts, nose boops, and kisses. They are also playful, naughty and love to eat...Some Female ginger cats, however, are considered aggressive and irritable.

Famous Ginger Cat Icon 🧡

Garfield. This lazy but loveable character was created by Jim Davis back in the late 1970s. He continued on in fame through comic strips, all the way to the big screen when he starred in his own feature film, Garfield: The Movie and Cartoon.

Ginger Cat Trivia 🧡

Most ginger cats are male. Apparently, the ‘ginger gene’ which produces that orange color, exists on the X chromosome. In order for females to be ginger, they would need two of these ‘ginger’ X chromosomes. Males only need one. Ginger cat male to female ratios are approximately 3:1.

Five Different Patterns 🧡
The domestic tabby pattern is seen in many domestic cat breeds, including everything from an Abyssinian to a Maine C**n, and of course, the classic tabby. There are five various versions of the tabby pattern you may find in ginger cats:

Solid
Unspecified Tabby
Classic Tabby
Spotted Tabby
Ticked Tabby
Mackerel Tabby

Marmalade, red, orange or ginger - whatever you want to call it, ginger cats are nothing less than extraordinary. If you have a ginger cat companion, you’re in luck. Ginger Cat Appreciation Day is to take a moment to fully appreciate cats and how much pure joy they bring into the world.

Happy Black Cat Appreciation Day 🖤🐈‍⬛

"BLACK CATS RULE and Show us photo of your Black Cats" 🖤🐾

Every August 17, we celebrate National Black Cat Appreciation Day, dedicated to these mysterious feline friends. Nothing is quite as elegant as a black cat,

History of National Black Cat Appreciation Day
Interestingly, cats in ancient Egypt were revered highly, partly due to their ability to combat vermin such as mice, rats. Cats of royalty were known to be dressed in golden jewelry and were allowed to eat right off their owners’ plates. The goddess of warfare was a woman with the head of a cat named Bastet.

These days, however, black cats are often are seen as unlucky or mischievous, but not everyone knows why that is. In Celtic mythology, it was believed that fairies could take the form of black cats, and therefore their arrival to a home or village was seen as sign of good luck. Unfortunately, the Pilgrims that came after them were devoutly religious and fearful of anything remotely related to the pagan beliefs of their ancestors, and it was because of that fear that black cats went from being seen as the vessels of fairies to the vessels of witches and demons. At that time it became common practice to severely punish those who kept black cats as pets, and even kill the animals themselves.

Although these days nobody really believes black cats are witches or demons in disguise anymore, they are still often seen as signs of bad luck by many people in the West.

There are many reasons to appreciate their black feline beauties as they are quite lovable and playful. Black cats also make for wonderful companions and are quite attached to their owners.

1. History's symbols 🐈‍⬛
Different cultures have used black cats as both lucky and unlucky symbols. While the Middle Ages associated them with superstitions, the Ancient Egyptians revered them as a form of protection. We want to dispel these myths and celebrate their individuality today.

2. Hidden colours 🖤
Apart from their all-black coats, these cats can have interesting hidden patterns. Hints of dark brown or rust may be visible in bright light. They become even more alluring due to the "ghost striping" phenomenon.

3. Variety in breeds 🐈‍⬛
Black is more than just a colour; it's also a pattern that many cat breeds exhibit. Black cats come in a variety of sizes and shapes, including the sophisticated Bombay and the svelte Panther. Every species brings unique qualities to the table.

4. Good fortune worldwide 🖤
Contrary to popular belief, some cultures view black cats as lucky symbols. They represent prosperity and good fortune in Japanese folklore. Regardless of individual beliefs, these cats are loved all over the world.

5. Genetic marvel 🐈‍⬛
The black coat colour is due to a genetic trait called 'melanism.' This trait creates the rich darkness of their fur. Interestingly, black cats can have a variety of eye colours, adding to their enigma.

6. Playful personalities 🖤
Black cats are well known for being affectionate and playful. They make wonderful companions. They cling to their owners tightly and enjoy engaging in interactive play.

If you have a cat, especially a black one, today is the day to make it feel extra special. Not to be confused with Black Cat Day which is on October 27th.

Let's show our love and appreciation for all the house-panthers on their national day! Post a picture of your black cats to let the world know how much they are loved! 🖤🖤🖤
