The City Veterinary office, headed by Dr. Alexander S. Destura conducted, ORIENTATION SEMINAR for Deputized Citation Ticket Officers. This Seminar is organized to prepare and educate individuals who will be deputized as citation ticket officers. Their role will be to enforce the regulations outlined in Sorsogon City's Responsible Pet Ownership and Possession Citation Ticket Ordinance of 2024. This is crucial for ensuring the effective implementation of the Ordinance, promoting responsible pet ownership, and safeguarding the welfare of both pets and the community.

We are honoured by the presence of our City Mayor, Hon. Ma. Ester Hamor, and Hon. Maria Theresa Gonzales who delivered an inspirational message emphasizing the importance of the ordinance in improving public safety, animal welfare, and fostering a sense of responsibility among pet owners in Sorsogon City. We are also thankful for Ms. Nancy Caballero, City Treasurer, Mr. Melchor Echano from City Legal Office, and Dr. Jose Maria G. Alindogan, Veterinarian of CVO who served as resource speakers of the said activity.

Successfully conducted Seminar on Swine Production: covering essential topics including Swine Breeds, Health Management, Feeding Practices, Castration Techniques, and Artificial Insemination -empowering participants of Sorsogon City in Swine Farming. Present also in the said activity are the veterinary technicians of City Veterinary office serving as the resource speaker and Dr. Alexander S. Destura, City Veterinarian.

CVO also conducted Swine Dispersal Program "Passing the Gift" from Swine Multiplier Farm Project, LGU Sorsogon City to the beneficiaries in East, West, and Bacon Sorsogon City.

20 OJT students from Sorsogon State University Castilla Campus with the course of Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Major in Animal Science, completed their 240 hours of Skills Development/Practicum at the City Veterinary Office from July 1 to August 5, 2024.

They gained exposure to various divisions of the office including Animal Health Services, Animal Production, Public Health/ Regulatory and Slaughterhouse Operations. This On the Job training would equip them with a broad understanding of veterinary services and the different roles they may encounter in their future careers.

In response to the latest rabies case in Brgy. Gatbo Bacon Sorsogon City, City Veterinary Office conducted a Rabies Rapid Response including Ring vaccination, to prevent the spread of the virus by ensuring that animals in the vicinity are protected, distributed pamphlets to the residents to raise awareness about rabies, its transmission, prevention methods, and the importance of getting pets vaccinated. CVO also conducted Dog Impounding to control the population of unvaccinated animals that might be carriers of the virus.
These measures were implemented swiftly to contain the spread of Rabies and protect the community from further cases.

20 Trainees of 29th Basic Meat Inspection Courses (BMIC) for Meat Inspection Officers of Local Government Units in Bicol Region Conducted their Hands on Training of Meat Inspection procedures for hogs and large cattle at Sorsogon City Abattoir last August 5, 2024 from 11:00 pm to 1:30 am. These BMIC Training had been inspected by the National Meat Inspection Service - Regional Technical Operation Center V (NMIS-RTOC 5) through the leadership of Regional Technical Director, Dr. Alex B. Templonuevo, The Local Government Unit of Sorsogon City thru the City Veterinarian Dr. Alexander S. Destura, together with Dr. Jose Maria G. Alindogan, Slaughterhouse Operation Supervisor and Slaughterhouse personnel welcomed and accommodated the group on their hand's on Meat Inspection Training.
