✅ The type of air pump you need depends on the size of your aquarium. As a 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝘂𝗹𝗲, the right air pump should have an output of 𝙖𝙩 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙩 𝟬.𝟬𝟯𝟯 𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙖𝙞𝙧 𝙥𝙚𝙧 𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙪𝙩𝙚 𝙥𝙚𝙧 𝙜𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙛 𝙬𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧. If you have a 120 gallon fish tank, you'll need an air pump that has an air output of about 3.9L/min to properly oxygenate the water.

It's the weekend! Have you performed water change yet?

Regular water change is one of the most important things you can do to maintain your aquarium. It's routine and it doesn't have to be stressful.

As nitrate accumulates in our tank water, we need to perform regular water change to remove it. Besides removing nitrate, don't forget to use a siphon to remove waste settling on the tank floor to maintain a healthy and balanced aquarium. And don't forget to stock your water for at least 24 hours before adding it to the aquarium. If you're using tap water, be sure to check if there's chlorine in it. Adding anti-chlorine agent can be helpful, too.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I PERFORM WATER CHANGE?

IN GENERAL, water change is performed weekly of about 10%-20% of the tank volume. Furthermore, you can have your own schedule that suits your aquarium setup. Though less frequent water changes will work in some cases, HEAVILY STOCKED aquariums will require more frequent ones.

It is also highly recommended to avoid overpopulating your fish tank because it increases the bioload. Overpopulation includes the number of fish, live aquatic plants, and other living things residing in your fish tank. When the bioload is high, more waste accumulates in a limited space making aquarium maintenance an uphill battle. Remember, water change is a routine BUT it doesn't have to be stressful.
