What should you know about feeding your Guinea Pig?
Guinea Pig has different nutritional needs than your other pets. The common ratio between grass and pellets should between 70:30 since our little piggy was domesticated from the wild. Here in the Philippines we commonly offer Paraguis or locally known as plagtiki as it was full of nutrients needed for our Piggy. Plagtiki is also great for fertility purposes as it was also used as a food supplement for humans to aid some nutrients needed including the fertility of a male.
It is common in our local market that we use pellets for pigeons and poultry as it is the cheapest feed that can suit the needs of our piggy. Mention a few of them are Integra 3 and GMP3. But don't you know that your little piggy has different anatomy compare to a poultry animal? You might end up feeding your little piggy with too much crude protein that can cause bloating to them as their digestive system is having the struggle to digest the pellets.
You might also take note of the two important nutrients needed for your piggy: Vitamin C (same as humans they can't produce vitamin c on their own) and fiber.
As Guinea Pig lovers, we must also know the important factors in taking good care of our Piggies.
