I have been receiving a lot of question about keeping Mantis as Pets. YES, they are actually FUN to watch and EASY to maintain. I actually let my son Leonard take care of a few just to give him the responsibility of keeping it alive. TEACH THEM WHILE THEY ARE YOUNG!!! L1 Nymphs only need to eat once every four days and they eat the flies and mosquito on my wife's FAKE flowers inside the house, lol. I want more people to understand these magnificent creatures. Many actually just kill them because they are scared of it because it is just an insect. BENEFICIAL INSECT is what they are. With the problem, our farmers and gardeners are facing today with pests they always turn to chemicals which is fine to an extent but more should be done to use ECO-friendly means. Yes, many are saying " we have a lot of them at their place " great then you're one of the few that should not have a problem with pests on your plants. That's if you catch them and place them near your plants. But for those that live in the city, you will more than likely not find one, or places that have too many chemicals being sprayed like RICE FIELDS or large Mango plantations. Even commercial fruit farmers spray chemicals to kill insects and I mean KILL THEM ALL STYLE. There are still many gardeners and farmers that stay away from the use of chemicals and they are the ones I would really love to help.
