Ma-kati? Bilugan? Ma-pula? 🦠🩸
Did you know that ringworm can affect not just your pets but also you and your family? It’s a common skin infection caused by a fungus, not an actual worm (despite the name!). Here’s what you need to know:
*What does Ringworm look like?
You might notice patches of hair loss, flaky or crusty skin, or even small bald spots on your pets. On us, hoomans, it often shows up as a red, itchy, round rash.
*How does it spread?
Ringworm spreads super easily! It can pass from pet to pet, or even from pets to humans, just by touching infected fur, skin, bedding, or surfaces.
*Who’s at risk?
Cats, especially kittens, and dogs can both catch and spread ringworm. Younger pets or those with weaker immune systems are more likely to get it.
*Why regular vet visits matter
Sometimes, ringworm isn’t easy to spot until it’s already spreading. That’s why regular check-ups are so important! Your vet can catch and treat it early, keeping your pets healthy and your family safe.
*What to do?
👉🏻Wash your hands after cuddling your pets.
👉🏻Clean your pet’s bedding, toys, and grooming tools often.
👉🏻Vacuum regularly to get rid of fungal spores around your home.
