“Spark a Change” in the Zamboanga Plant Community

The “Spark a Change” love drive project organized by the La Familia del “Zombie Abangers” del Ciudad de Zamboanga on March 27, 2022 was a resounding success with the support of the local plant community, some businesses, and other individuals of goodwill.

The said project benefitted thirty humble families in the local plant community from the east coast to the west. Cash donations from sponsors and funds raised from the “Raffle for a Cause” conducted on March 13, 2022, were used to buy health and hygiene products, cleaning supplies, shelf-stable food, and other grocery items that would help augment the needs of the recipient families in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

After a day-long visit to the recipients in the different barangays in the city, the “Zombie Abangers” culminated the event with a simple program at the Elle Siembra’s gazebo at Zone 4 in Buenagatas. The closing program was documented over Facebook live streaming for the sponsors, event supporters, and the public to watch.

The “Zombie Abangers” family is a small group in the Zamboanga City plant community that was organized at the time the “plantdemic” has spread across the country after the COVID-19 restrictions fueled the demand for greenery in 2021. The said group lives by the “Sharing is caring” principle and has a purpose-driven mission for the community. The remarkable leadership of its founder, Mrs. Vilma Geronimo who is currently based in Switzerland, has inspired the members to live with a purpose and to continue to spark a change in the community in the spirit of Magis.
