Maggie was involved in an unfortunate accident with a tricycle. While playing she was struck by a tricycle which resulted in lacerations on her skin.

Immediate action was taken by her furparents to ensure Maggie’s safety and well-being. She was promptly attended to by a veterinarian, and the necessary treatment was administered. We are closely monitoring her recovery.

This incident serves as a reminder to always be cautious and aware of our surroundings, especially in areas where pets and moving objects may come into contact.

LEPTOSPIROSIS

Bella is infected with leptospirosis,she has contracted a bacterial infection that can affect her liver and kidneys.

Leptospirosis is a zoonotic disease, meaning it can spread from animals to humans. Infected dogs can potentially transmit the bacteria to humans through direct or indirect contact with their urine, so it’s essential to practice good hygiene and wear protective gloves when cleaning up after an infected dog.

Acute symptoms:
• Fever
• Shivering
• Muscle tenderness
• Reluctance to move
• Increased thirst and urination
• Dehydration
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
Chronic symptoms:
• Jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes)
• Swollen lymph nodes
• Abdominal pain
• Difficulty breathing
• Coughing
• Nasal discharge

Early diagnosis and supportive treatment with antibiotics are crucial for recovery. Infected dog may recover from leptospirosis, although recovery can be slow. In some cases, long-term kidney or liver damage may occur.

Regular vaccination can help protect dogs against common strains of leptospirosis.

Co-infection of Coccidia and Giardia in Dogs

A dog suffering from both giardiasis and coccidiosis is dealing with two intestinal infections caused by different parasites. Giardiasis is caused by the protozoan Giardia, leading to symptoms like diarrhea, weight loss, and dehydration. Coccidiosis is caused by coccidia parasites, resulting in similar symptoms such as diarrhea (often bloody), lethargy, and poor appetite.

Concurrent infections can significantly weaken the dog’s immune system, making recovery more challenging.The combined impact on their health can be more severe than with a single infection.
Treatment typically involves specific antiparasitic medications for each infection.

Managing both infection requires diligence and coordinated care, but with appropriate treatment,supportive care and preventive measures, dogs can recover and return to good health.

Mucho 😎

Mucho’s recovery from proptosis and hyphema caused by a dog fight is a testament to his resilience and the effectiveness of prompt veterinary care.

Following the traumatic event, Mucho underwent immediate treatment to reposition his eye and address the bleeding within the eye. The use of temporary tarsorrhaphy helped protect his eye while it healed, and a regimen of medications ensured that inflammation was controlled and the infection was prevented.

With careful monitoring and support, Mucho’s eye has healed well, and he has regained much of his normal vision. His journey highlights the importance of quick intervention and dedicated care in managing such serious ocular injuries.

Feline scabies

Notoedres cati is a parasitic mite that causes notoedric mange, commonly known as feline scabies, in cats.

Infected cats typically show intense itching, hair loss, and thickened, crusty skin, especially around the head, ears, and neck. The condition can spread to other parts of the body if untreated.

The mites are highly contagious and can spread through direct contact with an infected cat or contaminated environments.

Veterinarians diagnose notoedric mange through skin scrapings, which are examined under a microscope to detect the mites.

Keeping cats indoors and away from infected animals can help prevent the spread of Notoedres cati. Regular veterinary check-ups can also help detect and manage infestations early.
