Lest We Forget!
Almost after 6 months since the flood 2022 hit Pakistan, As of today, according to World Health Organization (WHO), around 8 million flood-affected people need health assistance. Vector-borne and water-borne diseases remain a major concern in flood-affected areas. Around 1,000 confirmed cholera cases and 64,767 dengue fever cases, with 147 deaths, have been reported. Approximately 136,950 births are expected in the next three months.

This piece of barren land is all what is left with the inhabitants of this area after the floods in Pakistan 2022. The soil is converted into sand & rocks and everything else, along with their households & cattle have been washed away.
These few bags of seeds is a small effort to help them restart & restructure their lives once again.
The purpose of the post is only to spread information about the living conditions of these people in the Thatta region.

Alhamdo Lillah , 200 kilo wheat seeds delivered in Gambit, directly to 2 farmers.These farmers had lost their household during floods. So this is the seed money ( read seed) to restart their lives.

To alleviate the global climate crisis and prevent the worst catastrophes, it is necessary to begin immediately to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases. The developed economies must begin to realise concrete reductions while the less developed economies must begin to moderate their increases and then follow the developed economies in making reductions. All countries must begin to move away from a development and production strategy based on the unrestrained consumption of fossil fuels. This will not only pose daunting challenges in the fields of energy and transportation but it will also require the rebuilding of world agriculture on a more organic and sustainable basis.

Whatever the urgency of immediate actions, the scale of the changes needed will eventually clash with the expansionary needs of capitalism. Capitalism is an economic system based on production for profit and the universal dominance of market relations.

This page is dedicated to raise funds for seeds for the flood victims in Pakistan. We are a group of Pakistani immigrants, climate change activists in USA currently working together raising small donations for flood relief efforts.

We got involved with Madam Rana Tauqir - Chair Startup committee Pakistan with her project “Seeds for Sustainability” and so far we are able to purchase 1100 Kg of wheat seeds.

Please show your support and give as much as you can. In the mean time we will share information about other projects in Pakistan that you can support as well. We will gradually post links, names and contact information of trustworthy individuals and organizations you can also reach out to in Pakistan and support them with their cause.
