Do you also have a dog that takes one look at a bunch of treats, and knows exactly which ones has the medication? If so, you might be able to use this loop to give them the needed pills. 🟢 You need a well generalized “pick up” behavior to do this. Otherwise, it will be too difficult to take a nasty tasting pill. #positivereinforcementtraining #positivereinforcement #dogtrainingtips #forcefree #husbandry
Getting started with directional cues!
Getting started with directional cues!
Position your dog facing you, place a bowl and put one treat.
Release your dog on cue; we apply “big” movements as we want our dog to work overtime at a great distance from us.
Build on the behaviour by adding a plate to the left and, lastly, one behind.
You can increase the difficulty of the behaviour by adding distance to your dog, moving the bowls further from your dog or having treats in all three bowls.

🚨Make some noise!! 🤩By using a simple target and a target transfer, we can give our dogs control over sounds. 📣Instead of us making the sound, we can let the dogs be the ones, who is starting the sounds. 💖 This way, they always have control in the session and can choose to not make the sound. 🎧If they chose that, that is also something we reinforce, so that we’re sure that both choices (make sound/don’t make sound) are ok for the dog ❤️#dogtraining #positivereinforcementtraining #choiceandconsent #clickertraining #soundtraining #empowerment
Even though we LOVE teaching behaviors, sometimes we also wish that this would work. 🤣 #positivereinforcementtraining #dogtraining #dogmagic #clickertraining #dogtrainers
Duration?! One of the questions we often get, is how to teach duration in target behaviors. It’s usually not an issue to teach the target behavior, but getting them to hold it, is often where it gets more difficult. There are many ways to do this, but here is one approach that often works really well, if you’ve already tried shaping it in various ways. All you need is a cup or ring that you can use, to build the start of the duration 🤩#dogtraining #positivereinforcementtraining #clickertraining #dogtrainingtips #targettraining #dogs #dogtrainer
There’s so much great content and awesome tutorials available online now, and we LOVE that ❤️However, it’s important that we all take them for what they are. Short how-to’s and often made or edited at home. Following a simple step in a video can absolutely help you teach your dog a new behavior, but it’s never a quick-fix for a long lasting behavioral problem you might be dealing with. Quick fixes do work, short term, but if you’re looking for longer lasting solutions, then we have to do the hard work, which takes more time than a 1 min training session. We LOVE that you’re trying the tutorials we make for you! But also want to make clear, that none of these are going to fix anything in just one session. Obviously, that is not as catchy as telling you “ do this, and your will never lunge at another dog again”, but this is the reality. We can teach behaviors fairly quickly, but for them to be reliable and ready to use in the real outside world, no 1 minute session is going to cut it! Handtarget is an awesome behavior and it’s something that can be used in so many contexts. It is a skills that can be used when working on new patterns instead of lunging too, but it’s not going to be the only thing needed. Good training, takes time, just like it should do❤️#dogtraining #clickertraining #onlinedogtraining #positivereinforcementtraining

Here’s the “how to” video, where you can see the process, step-by-step as promised 😊 By fading in food very gradually and making sure that the behavior we’re working one is fluent, we can teach the dog to work with food available right in front of them. The important thing here is, to move the food very gradually and if the dog takes the food, just use that as information. No need to say “no”. If they’re goring for it, we’re moving too fast 😊 #dogtraining #clickertraining #dogtrainingtips
Today we’re answering some of your questions. In this case - fading in food, in the most errorless way. 🤩 and tomorrow - we will show you how to do that, in a video. 😊 If there’s anything you’d like us to make a video about, let us know in the comments 🤩
