Hey everyone! Due to health and personal issues we won’t be doing rescue work for a while, but we are certainly collaborating with several of our sister organizations in the island connecting them with fosters and potential forever homes. Right now some of these organizations are in need of flight angels traveling from SJU - BOS and SJU- New Jersey to transport their rescues to the mainland. Message us if you know of anyone. Thank you!

I salut you, Sir Seuk Kim. You were taken too soon. Thank you for taking so many four legged angels to their freedom flight and eventually their “furever” homes. Rest easy.

Please consider making a donation for Pluto and Whiskey, the only two dogs that survived the plane crash. Info below.

First and foremost, we want to pay tribute to our friend Seuk Kim, the pilot who tragically lost his life in a plane crash Sunday evening. Seuk was flying three dogs from high euthanasia shelters in the south to the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley, to find these dogs loving forever homes. Anyone who knew Seuk knows that saving animals was his true passion and that he was a true hero within the animal rescue community. Everyone at ASSV is incredibly proud to have been a small part of the amazing work that he and his rescue partners in the south are doing.

Two dogs miraculously survived the plane crash and ASSV is overseeing their medical recoveries. Whiskey is a four-month-old lab mix who suffered two broken legs and will undergo multiple surgeries this week at Pieper Memorial Veterinary Clinic in Middletown Connecticut.

The second dog, Pluto, a one and a half-year old male yorkie/terrier mix, was evaluated at Capital District Veterinary Hospital and released to the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley. He suffered pulmonary contusions and both internal and external bruising, but miraculously, he is doing very well! A third puppy, named Lisa, was sadly killed in the plane crash.

As a rescue team, we wanted to get these amazing survivors the best immediate vet care and make sure their pain was managed, and they were at a point of comfort. We have now had time to discuss Pluto and Whiskey's immediate and long-term recovery needs with the veterinarians. We have been told the costs associated with their recovery could be $20,000 or more and we are now reaching out to our community to help us cover these costs.

There are a few different ways you can donate directly. We are sharing our shelter's Venmo, Pay Pal and Link tree account below. If you prefer to pay by check, the shelter mailing address is: ASSV, PO Box 40, Howes Cave, NY 12092. You can also drop off check or cash donations in-person.

We will continue to keep everyone up-to-date on our little warrior pups. Please keep them, and Seuk's family in your prayers.
