Saying goodbye is never easy, but knowing the love that awaits them makes it all worth it! This past weekend, we wished Rainbow, Lenny & Kenny farewell and placed them in the trusted hands of our amazing Flight Angels for their second time around. They were treated like royalty and a few already have pending adoptions! A special thank you to Jill, Nicole & Jason for making their dreams come true. We are stronger together! #SatoLove #PromisesKept
It's a story often repeated and hard to imagine, but these two adult Chihuahuas were once a part of a family. They were driven into the mountains and with all they had in the world, a doghouse and blanket...they were abandoned. We received word that they were living in a cave nearby and needed immediate help. These sisters are sweet, grateful and deserving of so much more. Their day finally came with the help of many volunteers and they made it safely off the island to our dear friends at Sato Heart Rescue in New Hampshire. Thank you to everyone who helped with their rescue and rehabilitation, together we are changing lives! #SatoLove
Once you choose hope,anything’s possible
Found starving on the side of the road, she searched for food among the debris. Recently dumped and living amongst an established group of strays, she was afraid and submissive...she wouldn't last long. Slowly finding the courage to trust and be rescued, we were happy to welcome this sweet girl into our family. Finally, she knew she was safe.
We work daily to catch our breath, but it's a grind worth our every effort. We are deeply grateful for any donation to help us meet her medical needs and to help her receive all that she needs.
Grateful for your kindness and support,

Help support Second Chance Animal Rescue by donating or sharing with your friends.
We each have a unique road to travel with a plan and purpose for us all. Even though we couldn't imagine adding more to our plate, we also couldn't look away when we saw the desperation in her eyes…the world had given up on her, but she clearly hadn't given up on the world.
This sweet girl was found in a box on the side of a freeway in Puerto Rico. We can only suspect that she was dumped by a breeder. She suffers from Swimmers Syndrome that if treated early could have helped restore her mobility, but now her legs are calcified and the damage is done. X-rays showed that she is otherwise very healthy and such a wonderful puppy at only 4 months of age.
We are fundraising to help with her medical needs and most urgently a wheelchair that can be adjusted as she grows. *see comments for what we have in mind. If you can help in any way, we are deeply grateful.

"Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much". It just takes one voice to create change! Thank you to Yanira Caraballo Figueroa for being that voice!! Hilton International, Medtronics-Villalba and Duke Energy all came together to embrace our efforts! A special thank you to José A. González Irizarry, Ponce Hilton who helped tremendously to execute the vision. Jeannine Collazo, we will never have enough words...you are simply amazing! It's in these moments that we know we are not alone. Forever grateful to these amazing groups of volunteers who brought energy, compassion and love through our gates!
Just received—another mama and her newborn puppies. These were left at the SCAR gate with mama tied to the fence. At least they were brought to a safe place rather than left to die on the side of the road. But animal abandonment is at a crisis level in a Puerto Rico. Most do not get a happy ending like these pups will. Please donate to SCAR to help us save more and care for these new arrivals. MORE AND MORE new mothers with their new borns are been rescued and they need to get strong and healthy so they can feed their babies.

It’s Valentine’s Day at SCAR and Rosie’s puppies are getting some playtime with the SCAR cats to get them socialized and teach them very early on how to live with cats. So far they are doing well! Happy Valentines Day everyone! 🐱❤️ 🐶
