While I’m in the U.K. visiting family I’ve taken the opportunity to order some amazing rainbow leather from Leather4craft, I’ve got a couple of dog collars for Traffic Cone Creations I’m going to incorporate it into but what else will I do with it 🤔

Slowly reconstructing the workbench. Got a top for it yesterday, will be attached tomorrow then need to make a back board for my tools to hang on then it will be moved inside and I can start getting tools back out 😊

Contrasting colours on collars. I’ve always loved making unusual collars for folk, and the red leather I had was brilliant for it. Against the black or popped like crazy. Once I’m up and running again I need some more funky colours I feel! Will have to tap up Van Dijk leather supplies for that!

It’s the weekend folks! Hope you are relaxing and enjoying yourselves. Today insted of a product I’ve got the evolution of my trade stand. I used to spent my weekends in the summer showing off my skills at country and game fairs. They were so much fun meeting people, chatting about leather working and often helping people understand about how hand stitching worked and the differences between types of leather. I was lucky enough to attend prestigious events like the CLA Game Fair and the Midland Game Fair. I miss doing fairs now we live in Portugal, they don’t have anything like that here as far as I know!

A while ago I attended a show down in Suffolk where there were some beautiful Suffolk Punches doing showing classes. I was commissioned to make a show bridle for one of them. The cheek pieces are a specific shape for the breed I was told. Was a super interesting piece to make and lovely to work on

Handbag/pouch, made from bridle leather these are tough and pretty. I made one with a strap for a lady who wanted it as a handbag and other was size to fit a pair of binoculars for my partners birthday present

Last week I showed off the cartridge belt I made, this was an unique piece as was for a gentleman who did pest control and used a very small calibre for dealing with rats. This is designed to be worn on the wrist rather than the middle 😊

Some tool pouches and covers I’ve made over the years,

The first picture is a pouch for chainsaw tools I custom made for a dear friend who is no longer with us, the second is the axe mask I made for another good friend who had some some lovely axes for his woodworking he needed keeping safe, then there is a cover for a draw knife and the last was one I made for my own moon knife

Training lead is todays interesting make. It adjusts to theee different lengths using the d-rings depending on what you are working on with your dog. I’ve made a lot of these over the years, each time the customer has been surprised I make them as they thought they were the only one using them😁

Side girth and over girth. I don’t often make tack and this was something I’d never done. A theee fold girth and over girth for a friend who competed at county level showing side saddle. A challenging make in all respects from sourcing the correct leather (called bag hide, tough and strong but also flexible and thing enough to fold) to making sure the same sign and finish were correct for the showing ring.

Hand stitching a cartridge belt takes quite a lot of time, but the result is spectacular! My client emailed me after he had received it to say his children were now arguing over who was going to inherit it from him 😂
