Meet Saffy and Spice! 🐾

These two adorable 5-month-old kittens are ready to bring joy, playfulness, and charm into a new home! Saffy (Saffron) and Spice are full of life and absolutely love to explore the outdoors—safely, of course. At present they are in the care of our partners Pakadora Association-PDA

They’re playful as you can see, curious, and social, but still a bit too adventurous to just be lap cats (for now!). With time, more attention and a little patience, they’re sure to warm up even more. ❤️

Both kittens are in perfect health: disease-free, neutered, vaccinated, and in fantastic condition. They would thrive in a home with a lovely outdoor area to play and explore. With a bit of love and attention, Saffy and Spice will truly blossom and make the perfect companions.

These two beautiful 6 month old kittens are seeking a loving indoor home.
They have just been sterilised had a good flea/tick and worm treatment. Using litter tray.Lovely gentle personalities. One is a bit shy but once they find a loving home I'm sure she will blossom. Please share here and abroad we can find transport at a reasonable cost 🙏🙏🐾😻🐾💞

Today (Monday ) we sterilized two beautiful female cats from Alte. Thank you to Faye 124Vet
They are quite friendly and they are well fed by the Hotel where they will be returned to as the staff love them ❤️
They are staying with us a few days to recover. No photos yet we were too busy !
We are also able to pay for two female cats from Sao Marcos da Serra to be sterilized at another one of of our vets after some person abandoned them :(
We also have a cat booked from near Benafim with yet another vet for sterilization tomorrow . So 5 cats this week having the ✂️🎉

The last two kittens rescued from a colony near Lagoa have been sterilised Thursday. Two gorgeous girls still a bit feral but very sweet will be staying at the cat retreat until suitable homes are found 🥰

On monday we rescued a kitten which is placed with a fab foster. We paid for food and a vet check and we are delighted that this little kitten is healthy and doing well. This beauty will be up for adoption 🥰

Dear Associations and Protector Groups,

Given the lack of an article with funds for Animal Welfare in the 2025 State Budget proposal presented by the Government, CEAA sent emails to all Parties with seats in parliament asking them to include an article with funds for the operation and improvement of the facilities of volunteer associations, to support needy families and caregivers of CED colonies already registered and awaiting registration with veterinary and food expenses, and to improve and expand the CRO network.

Given the explosive situation in terms of abandonment and animals living on the streets, as a result of a sterilization policy that should control overpopulation under Law 27/2016, approved unanimously in the AR, and which fails to do so, we also request the allocation of 7.8 million euros for:

- 7,000,000 (euro) for a National Sterilization Campaign, coordinated by the Ministry, in collaboration with local authorities, CRO and private veterinary clinics, aiming to offer free sterilizations to owned and stray animals, dogs and cats (CED), in all municipalities.
- 800,000 (euro) to support animal welfare associations in the sterilization and identification processes of animals.

Next Tuesday (22nd) and Thursday (24th) we have meetings scheduled at the AR, respectively, with the Socialist Party and Chega.

We would be grateful if we could present, in support of our positions, a significant number of signatures on the petition that we have drawn up in this regard and which can be found at the link

Os 3 pilares da Campanha:
1.Os canis municipais devem esterilizar obrigatoriamente todos os animais que dão em adopção .
2. As Câmaras devem celebrar protocolos com as associações de defesa animal que actuam no concelho para a esterilização dos animais abandonados que estas recolhem,
3. As Câmaras devem proporcionar aos munícipes com recursos limitados a esterilização gratuita dos animais que possuem.

It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce the passing of Ekah 😢
Some of you will remember that
Gabi collected Ekah ( naming her little mother) when she was called out to a colony near Lagoa last summer 2023
Ekah was a domestic cat that had been abandoned with her newborn kittens at a feral colony !
Domestic cats do not survive in such situations. Gabi when alerted to this situation by the caretaker trapped Ekah and the kittens. Eventually the kittens were rehomed ( although one continued to have seizures through the stressful colony situation)
Ekah was sterilised and went to a fab foster mum . Ekah was very traumatised and had understandably had trust issues with humans.
Her foster mum gave her space , love and such wonderful care for over a year!
it was agreed she would come to the cat retreat this month with one of her friends to continue her rehabilitation and enjoy the rest of her life.
We are so devastated to learn that Ekah was found deceased in her favourite knapping place. We believe it was her heart that eventually gave up. Ekah had over the year continued to put on weight and enjoy her home with her loving foster mum and new cat friends.
Thank you from.our hearts to foster mum and all that cared about her life.
Rest in peace Ekah ,we will never forget you and all the other abandoned cats 💔💔💔

Please help us to continue to help them . We cannot do this without donations. We give our time and energy freely . We give up evenings, weekends and often have to drop personal things at the last minute to help feral cats and kittens from External requests ! All our colonies are sterilised! we dont have kittens !!! any visiting cats at our colonies get caught and sterilised. We have spent most of our funds on external requests for kittens and cats ,sterilising them and paying for vet bills. We even have 6 kittens in our care from an external colony !
Sam was one of our colony cats. We needed to find him a home as we were moving and he had separated from the colony. We couldnt leave him. So when Tracy agreed to take him on it gave him a real chance. We did not realise Sam had Liesh until he had his adoption vet check . We knew he wasn't well but out it down to a visiting Tom ( since tested and castrated) who had attacked Sam so we were expecting some eye damage. We are committed to supporting Sam and his adoptive cat mum. He is loved so much.Tracy already has a cat with serious health issues and other pets . We agreed we would have a fund set aside for Sam. Initially this was €150 through donations 🙏 this was quickly used up last month with medication and consultation, blood tests ect. Please help us to pay this bill. Our vet is brilliant and not expensive as most are.
We always help when we can , we even help other assocations.
Now we need your help please. We have nearly 400 followers yet it is always left to the same people to donate?
We are grateful for anything you can spare for Sam as we have so many cats in our care that need feeding ,treatments and operations.

After great blood results a few weeks back for Sams Leish on Thursday he was taken poorly, not eating and very dehydrated. Had wounds inside his mouth, pancreatic pain, jaundice. Sam has been at the vets recieving treatments. He is looking better and maybe able to come home tomorrow.

Please if you can spare any euros towards his veterinary care €236.95 this includes 4 days stay at the vets

Sam also takes imprommune as this helps with his Leish (which is much cheaper if purchased in bulk hopefully this will last 400 days) cost €190.
Meaning Sams current vet bill is €426.95

We have received €25 donation so far 🙏
Please help we are a small charity that has no giverment funding ,we are volunteers and all funds raised go to the cats in our care.
Sam needed help we will always support him, he got sick and all we are asking if even half of our followers donated a euro this would go a long way to to settle his bill . Thank you from our hearts 🙏🙏♥️

Tinha feridas no interior da boca, dores no pâncreas e iterícia. O Sam tem estado no veterinário a receber tratamentos. Está a melhorar e talvez possa voltar para casa amanhã.

Por favor, se puderem dispensar alguns euros para os seus cuidados veterinários, 236,95 euros incluem 4 dias de estadia no veterinário

O Sam também toma imprommune, uma vez que este ajuda com o seu Leish (que é muito mais barato se comprado a granel, esperemos que dure 400 dias), que custa 190 euros.
Ou seja, a conta veterinária atual do Sam é de 426,95 euros.

Just a little update while we are still having a break , sterilsations happen even when we are away 🥰
2 cats were sterilised last week from loule District. 1 more could not be caught by the caretaker but we will assist with this after 10th some cats can be very smart to avoid trapping,so we need to out whit them 🤣
The five kittens we rescued are nearly 4 months old ! So they are booked in for the snip on the 15th. These kittens are all negative FHIV & FLEV, vaccinated. Up for adoption only need to microchip in adopters name. Photos and more to follow 🙏🙏

The female street dog is yet to be seen & caught. A villager has said she has seen her but not when the street cat caretaker is around. We will up the search when we return ,the good news is we have a foster place for her once we can get her !

Sam the beautiful simese cat that was adopted by Tracy and has Leish had his blood results and the vet is really pleased that the medication seems to be working so far 🤞🤞😻💞 He does have a cold at the moment so will go for a check up.

We will start our sterilisation campaign in the Messines area on the 16th October. Depending on funds we hope to be able to trap and sterilse 20 feral cats that have already been identified in the surrounding villages. We cannot do this without your support ,cares & shares, donations of money, food , equipment and items to auction so thank you from our hearts 💓

And last but not least we will resume our collection service for bedding and towels ect for the local shelters on the 15th October so please have a sort out and pm us so we can collect for the poor souls in the shelters to be more comfortable and warm for winter ❄️ 🛏️ 😻🐕🐾💞💞
