As we already shared Lulu, one of our most popular dogs during several years, had to stop going for walks due to spinal column problems.

She can stand by herself and walks with difficulty as one of her hind legs is almost paralysed.

So we wonder if any of you know someone that had a dog of her size (around 8-10kg) and that used a wheelchair and that no longer need it.

She’s with Fátima since Sunday as we couldn’t leave her in the shelter.

A shelter isn’t a place for a dog with almost 16 years old.

We think she feels much better now but has a total lack of appetite, so yesterday we started to give her supplements to see if she eats and drinks.

Our lovely Ubbi and Unai were neutered recently.

They were rescued by Masdaw on the past 21st of July together with their brother Unix and their sister Ully.

These adorable kittens are waiting for their forever families.

MASDAW 的貓咪們對這兩個充滿特殊蘭花的花盆情有獨鍾！其中一些貓咪仍在等待他們的人類摯友……根據美國防止虐待動物協會（ASPCA）的資料，有幾種無毒、適合狗狗和貓咪的花卉不會對您的寵物造成傷害。而其中，蘭花就是一個完美的選擇！沒錯，這些驚人美麗的自然創作對寵物並無毒害！

事實上，蘭花也許是最適合在家中擺放的花卉之一，讓您無需擔心狗狗或貓咪會對它們產生興趣。ASPCA 和其他動物保護組織一致認為，蘭科（Orchidaceae）的成員對寵物友好且安全。

以下是幾種安全的蘭花品種：
* 巴西蘭花（Sophronitis spp.）
* 深紅牛頭蘭、紅唇牛頭蘭（Cattleya Labiata）

Because our tail-wagging family members are a priority, we decided to share with you that happily not all flowers and plants are harmful. You can enjoy having stunning flower arrangements with your furry friend roaming around at home, specially during this festive season of Chinese New Year.

Masdaw cats are fascinated with these two cachepots, full with special orchids arrangements! And some of them are still waiting for their human soulmates…

There are several non-toxic, dog-friendly and cat-friendly flowers that won’t be harmful to your pet, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

And among them are the ORCHIDS! Yes these amazingly beautiful nature creations aren’t poisonous to pets!

In fact, orchids are perhaps one of the most inoffensive to have around the house without worrying even if your dog or cat decides to have a bite. The ASPCA and other animal protection groups agree that members of the Orchidaceae family are pet-friendly and safe. This includes the following orchid species:

POISONOUS FLOWERS YOU SHOULD KEEP AWAY FROM YOUR PETS (list of flowers that you should avoid at all costs, either as a flowering plant or part of a floral arrangement, if you have a dog or cat at home):

Birds of Paradise

Daffodils
Iris
Poinsettia
Oleander
Narcissus
Wisteria

Pets who have ingested toxic plants or flowers can suffer from mild to severe gastrointestinal issues, seizures, and neurologic problems, heart poisoning, kidney poisoning, or liver poisoning. Some early poisoning symptoms in pets usually include:
Lethargy
Loss of appetite
Vomiting
Drooling
Dehydration
Uncontrollable urination or thirst
Depression
Bleeding gums
Agitation
Black or bloody stools
Nosebleed
Bleeding gums

Normally, cats and dogs could have sudden bouts of vomiting and diarrhea when they eat something that doesn’t agree with their stomach. It should resolve on its own in a few days. However, if you see your pet experiencing at least a couple other symptoms for more than 24 hours, regardless if you have flowers or plants around the house, we suggest taking him/her to your veterinarian.

本周又傳來了更加悲痛和令人心碎的消息……
�我們的 Norca Minorca，自從13年前被 Anima 救助以來，一直與 Fátima 一同生活，但最近她的體重急劇下降，因此我們決定帶她進行全面檢查。然而，檢查結果讓我們感到絕望，幾乎可以確定她的體重減輕是由於一個非常複雜的腫瘤所致。

我們收到的報告如下：�“血液檢測顯示，只有一個腎臟指標（BUN）略高，可能是由於輕微脫水或高蛋白攝入造成。肝臟指標（膽紅素）也略高。X光檢查未見明顯異常。
�在腹部超聲檢查中，我們發現了兩個腫塊。第一個腫塊位於左腎和膀胱之間，是一個多囊性腫塊，約2.8厘米長，與其他器官（腎臟、脾臟、左腎上腺等）無連接。
�第二個腫塊是一個固體腫塊，大小為3.3×4.4厘米，位於右腎的前側，位於主要血管之間。根據位置（在右腎上方和主要血管之間），高度懷疑是右腎上腺腫瘤。
建議進行CT掃描以確認該腫塊是否為右腎上腺。雖然手術是處理此腫塊的選擇，但如果存在轉移或血管侵襲，則可能不適合手術。
此外，腎上腺切除手術的併發症和死亡率通常高於其他手術。
�同時，在 Norca 的左側躯幹發現了一個皮膚腫塊。經過細針抽吸，懷疑為肥大細胞腫瘤。”

我們感到無比絕望，因為我們甚至無法支付超聲檢查的費用，更不用說複雜的手術了。請幫助我們，讓 Norca 能夠過上有可能的優質生活。我們已經開始為她提供低脂肪和低蛋白的特殊飲食。

More sad, devastating, news this week…

Our Norca Minorca that is with Fátima since the day she was rescued by Anima, 13 years ago, lost weight and so we decided to take her to do a fully body check up. And the results couldn’t be worse as it’s almost 100% sure that the cause of her weight loss is a very complicated tumour.

This is the report we received:
“For the blood test, only a kidney value(BUN) is a bit higher, maybe affected by mild dehydration or high protein intake. A liver index (bilirubin) is also a bit higher. No obvious abnormalities were seen in x-ray.

In the abdominal ultrasound, we found two masses. The first one it is located between the left kidney and the bladder. It is a polycystic mass with a length of around 2.8cm, and is not connected to other organs (kidney, spleen, left adrenal gland…).

The second abdominal mass found is a solid mass with 3.3X4.4 cm large, located at the cranial side of the right kidney. It is located between the main vessels. From the location (on top of right kidney and between the main vessels) right adrenal gland tumor is highly suspected.

CT is recommended to confirm the mass is the right adrenal gland or not. Surgery is a choice for the mass, but may be not suitable if there is metastasis or invasion in the blood vessels. Adding to this, a surgery for the removal of the adrenal gland has higher complications and mortality than other surgery.

And there is a skin mass found at Norca’s left trunk. Fine-needle aspiration is done, and mast cell tumor is highly suspected.”

So we are desperate as we don’t even have money to the ultrasound, much less to a complex surgery.

Please help us to continue to give Norca a life with the possible quality.

We already started to give her a special low fat and low protein diet.

親愛的 MASDAW的朋友們，

以下是我們在十二月份收到的所有捐款清單，以及由才華橫溢的藝術家Susanne Leong所提供的100本日曆的銷售收入。�衷心感謝每一位關心我們的人，感謝你們的捐助，讓 MASDAW 能夠繼續追尋我們的夢想……♥️

正如大多數人所知，我們在收容所裡有145隻狗狗，只有不到9隻在寄養家庭中。我們在澳門擁有一個美好的收容所，但從二月開始，租金將高達每月46,200港元。這對我們來說是一筆巨額開支，因為我們完全依賴動物愛好者和少數私人企業的捐款來維持運營。

每個月，我們大約需要購買300公斤的乾糧和罐頭食品，以及雞肉、蔬菜和米飯，因為我們相信，健康的飲食對於擁有健康快樂的寵物至關重要。我們有幾隻狗狗終生面臨健康問題，還有一些年紀漸長，需要持續用藥，部分狗狗只能吃特別昂貴的食物。

為了能夠繼續生存並拯救我們所照顧的生命，我們始終需要動物愛好者和了解 MASDAW 工作及對動物，尤其是那些無人問津的狗狗的愛心機構的支持。我們對您們的支持無比感激，並希望能繼續贏得這份支持。

Dear Masdaw friends,

Below is the list of all the donations we got during December and from the sale of the 100 calendars offered by the talented artist Susanne Leong.

A huge THANK YOU to all the ones who cared about us, and that donated to help Masdaw to continue the dream… ♥️

As most of you know we have 145 dogs at our shelter and less than 9 in foster families.

We have wonderful shelter in Macau, but the rent starting from February will be of HKD 46,200.00 month.

This is a huge amount for us as we live solely with donations from animal lovers and a few private companies.

Every month we buy around 300 kilos of dry and canned food, plus chicken, vegetables and rice as we believe that an healthy diet is fundamental to have healthy and happy pets.

We have several dogs with health issues for life, others are getting older and need continued medication and some can only eat special super expensive food.

To be able to survive and to continue to save the lives under our care we will always need the support of animal lovers and institutions that know Masdaw work and love towards the animals, specially dogs, that no one wants.

Our gratitude for your support is immensely and we hope that we will continue to deserve it.

盡管我們的露露總是帶著微笑，但她快要16歲了，健康狀況卻令人擔憂。正如我們之前提到的，露露面臨著嚴重的脊柱問題，現在她的一條腿失去了力量，飽受劇烈的疼痛折磨，甚至無法獨立站立或行走。

更令人心疼的是，她不喜歡喝水，導致輕微脫水，以及腎臟指標（BUN）偏高。同時，膽囊相關的肝臟指標（ALP）同樣偏高。

除了她多年來一直在遵循的特殊飲食外，她還需要每兩天接受一次皮下輸液，並服用口服肝臟補充劑。止痛藥（曲馬多和GABA）的劑量也將從每天兩次增加到三次。此外，她還將接受每隔一天的激光治療，以緩解疼痛。
這麽年邁的狗狗不應該生活在收容所里……這一切讓人心痛不已。

Even though she always looks like smiling, our Lulu, that’s almost 16 years old, is really not well!

As we shared previously, Lulu has serious spinal column problems and now she lost the strength in one of her legs and is in deep pain. She cannot stand nor walk by herself.

Besides, she’s also having some issues because she doesn’t like to drink water: a bit dehydration, one kidney value (BUN) is higher, may also be due to dehydration. A liver index, more related to gallbladder, (ALP) is also high.

So, to add to the special diet she already taking for several years, she will need to be given again subcutaneous fluid per two days and oral liver supplement. Painkiller (tramadol & GABA) will be increase from twice a day to three times a day. And laser therapy every other day.

A so old doggie should not live in a shelter…

It’s really sad…

We need help from dog lovers that maybe have a space in their home and in their heart…

We asked to the municipal pound not to kill 7 dogs with different sizes and ages and that are all very young, but not young enough not to be killed.

But we are full! So in order to be able to save them we need foster families to some of them or to some of the lovely dogs that are already in our shelter.

If we can’t take them out during February they will be killed.

And we desperately want to save them.

So if you know that you’re not ready to do a lifetime commitment but you feel like helping to save a dogs life, please contact us!

我們的Urchin走了……儘管已經用盡了一切可能的措施搶救 但他還是捱不過去
這調皮仔上週二（12 月 17 日）由市政收容所救出 成為 Masdaw成員不到一周...
昨天剛天黑 整天與兄弟姐妹朋友一起吃飯 玩耍後 他開始呼吸困難和氣喘
之前檢查獸醫發現他心臟因先天畸形而增大 醫生預期他的壽命只有一到兩年 但無論怎樣我們都希望他活下去
但在半夜 他被發現處已休克 心臟驟停未能恢復 因為他肺部已充滿液體
我們心碎了 唯一能讓我們減少悲傷的是
至少這 6 天裡 他能被愛 被保護 有一個大家庭 在花園裡玩了很多 吃了美味的食物而沒有死在冰冷的市政狗房中
他還有3 個兄弟姊妹 2 個同父異母兄弟姊妹 可能還有 2 個阿姨在等待回家

Our Urchin is gone… He died even though everything possible to save him was done.

Our playful little bear, rescued from the Municipal pound last Tuesday, the 17th of December, was part of Masdaw family less than one week…

Yesterday, late afternoon, beginning of the evening, after eating and playing all day with his siblings and friends, he started to breath with difficulty and in accelerated way.

Rushed to the vet it was found that he had the heart enlarged due to a congenital malformation. We were told that his life expectancy was of 1 to 2 years and we said that no matter what we wanted him to live.

But in the middle of the night he was found in shock and didn’t recover from the cardiac arrest as his lungs were full of liquid.

We are heartbroken and the only thing that helps us to feel not so sad is the knowing that at least during 6 days he was loved, protected, had a big family and played a lot in the garden, ate yummy food and didn’t die in the coldness of the municipal pound.

We still have his 3 siblings, 2 half siblings and, probably, 2 aunties.

親愛的 Masdaw 朋友們，

以下是我們在 10 月和 11 月收到的所有捐款清單。非常感謝所有關心我們並捐款幫助 Masdaw 繼續實現夢想的人……♥️

正如你們大多數人所知，我們的收容所裡有 145 隻狗狗，寄養家庭的只有不到 9 隻狗狗。

我們在澳門有很好的住所，但租金是每月42,000港幣。

這對我們來說是一筆巨款，因為我們僅靠動物愛好者和一些私人公司的捐款生活。每個月我們都會購買約 300 公斤的乾糧和罐頭食品，以及雞肉、蔬菜和大米，因為我們相信健康的飲食是擁有健康快樂的寵物的基礎。

我們有幾隻狗狗有終生的健康問題，有些狗狗正在變老，需要持續服藥，有些只能吃特殊的超級昂貴的食物。

為了能夠生存並繼續拯救我們照顧下的生命，我們將始終需要動物愛好者和機構的支持，他們了解Masdaw的工作和對沒有人想要的動物，特別是對狗狗的愛。

我們非常感謝您的支持，並希望我們將繼續得到您的幫忙。

Dear Masdaw friends,

Below is the list of all the donations we got during October and November.

A huge THANK YOU to all the ones who cared about us, and that donated to help Masdaw to continue the dream… ♥️

As most of you know we have 145 dogs at our shelter and less than 9 in foster families.

We have wonderful shelter in Macau, but the rent is HKD 42,000.00 month.

This is a huge amount for us as we live solely with donations from animal lovers and a few private companies.

Every month we buy around 300 kilos of dry and canned food, plus chicken, vegetables and rice as we believe that an healthy diet is fundamental to have healthy and happy pets.

We have several dogs with health issues for life, others are getting older and need continued medication and some can only eat special super expensive food.

To be able to survive and to continue to save the lives under our care we will always need the support of animal lovers and institutions that know Masdaw work and love towards the animals, specially dogs, that no one wants.

Our gratitude for your support is immensely and we hope that we will continue to deserve it.

On October and November we got total donations of MO73,298.00 an amount that isn’t enough even for us to pay the rent and electricity bills as well to face all the expenses we have lately as Papo, Fluffy, Dima and Czar, needed some urgent continuous medical care due to the seriousness of their condition.

We hope that more animal lovers can know about Masdaw commitment with Macau stray and abandoned dogs and cats and help us!

Otherwise our existence it’s completely threatened and probably condemned as well and specially the lives of all of our dogs.
