Bruno was an absolute Star when he came in for his pre op appointment for his dental booked next week.

With the modern drugs, sophisticated equipment and highly skilled Vets and nurses at QVC, the risk associated with general anesthesia and surgery is minimal for a healthy pet. However, there is still a risk for potential complications, and the best way to minimize the risk is for your pet to have a complete surgical evaluation before the procedure.

Look we hate seeing pets suffer and clients traumatized because they tried to save some money on vaccines at a cheap clinic and their pets now have a deadly disease.

Our isolation is full in both clinics with critically ill animals all of whom missed their QVC vaccines.
The treatment is exceptionally expensive, time consuming and heartbreaking for both our team and the owners.

Want to save money? Please vaccinate your pets with us and allow your exceptional QVC Vets to do their clinical magic in the check ups. This saves you thousands of riyals.
No free or cut price vaccine is worth it when it can literally kill your pets.

Dying Kitten Outbreak 😿

We are currently experiencing the death of hundreds of kittens and young cats here in Doha, and the panleukopenia virus is to blame.

Although not dangerous to people or dogs, the virus spreads rapidly among unvaccinated and under vaccinated cats and kittens.  The virus survives well in the environment and can get there through any fluid from an infected cat, including saliva, urine, and feces.  It can also be transfered on your hands, shoes, and clothes.

Those cats under eighteen months are at the highest risk.  Cats who are fully vaccinated are at the lowest risk.  For a young cat this means having a full kitten series of multiple vaccine visits, each about three weeks apart.  Kittens who do not finish their vaccines, or are between vaccines, can and do still catch panleukopenia.

The rate of death from this virus is very high, even with treatment.  Sadly in the past week we have had clients lose entire litters of kittens and large colonies of cats. The best treatment available is intensive and expensive.  The pet is kept in an isolation ward where the doctor and nurse must use extreme precautions with every entrance and exit to avoid spread of the disease.  An IV catheter is placed and used to give fluids and multiple medications many times each day.  The hydration must be adjusted by the vet often.  The kitten is fed by syringe or feeding tube until it can eat on it’s own. Those few that survive are often in the hospital for six to ten days.  It is devastating for everyone to see so many die.

Please fully vaccinate your kitten starting at 6-8 weeks of age and according to your Qatar Veterinary Center Veterinarians advice. ❤️

As the first Vet in Qatar 20 years ago, we have never strayed from our mission of providing gold standard care for the pets and people of Qatar.

We have invested in the very best Veterinary minds and committed to purchasing drugs and vaccines from verified labs.

It is flattering that there are now in excess of 60 clinics all wanting to be like QVC.
The difference is to stay afloat, they cut costs by employing far less qualified staff and do not purchase vaccines or drugs from the labs we do.

It is always the consumers choice to choose a cheaper option but we want our awesome clients to be fully aware of the real cost to you and your pets.

😿We are seeing a dramatic increase in lethal diseases due to under vaccinating and incorrect protocols for a high risk region.
😿We are seeing animals no longer eligible to fly because their vaccines were not correctly administered.
😿We are seeing pets with unnecessary and expensive advanced illnesses because they missed their annual checkups with an experienced clinician.

Bottom line, the cost of some cheap or free vet care can be lethal to your pets.🙀

😻To help you get back on track and get a qualified check up for your pets, book on a Sunday, Tuesday or Wednesday, mention you saw this post, and we will give you 10% off vaccines while seeing the most exceptional Vets in Qatar.
Your pets will love you for it. ❤️

Grace Jones is one of the luckiest rescues in Doha after presenting with sarcoptic mange (scabies) that had left her bald.

Not everyone would take on a pet with a zoonotic disease that is caused by a mite that can transmit the same disease to humans…but Grace Jones got an amazing new Mum who has brought her in for all her treatment.

Just look at the glorious head of hair that she now whips back and forth with a huge smile on her face. ❤️

Up until about 8 years ago, Scottish folds were exceedingly rare in Qatar.
Unfortunately, since establishing a small colony of these cats, some people started to breed them locally. This is an inherently bad idea for any population of animals, but particularly so for Scottish folds.
You see, all Scottish fold cats carry defective gene, which is the reason they have small, folded ears. It is a dominant trait that means cats with two dominant genes (1 from each parent) are particularly affected, whilst cats with one dominant and one recessive gene, are affected to a lesser degree. Cats with two recessive genes, do not have folded ears and do not show any symptoms of the disease related to the other two populations.

By starting with a small population and continuing to breed from these animals, inbreeding has made this issue even worse.
The gene affects the development of cartilage, and in severely affected animals, this is cartilage all over the body, not just in the ears. Affected animals, have short tails with tail vertebrae fused together, short distal limbs and over enlarged paws and wrists/ankles. These cats develop severe degenerative joint disease at an incredibly young age – often under 9 months, which can only be managed and never cured.

We have seen an alarming number of young Scottish fold cats, purchased locally, coming in with severe, debilitating illness.

We would ask that you think twice before buying a Scottish fold cat. These cats have been bred with a genetic mutation which is known to cause significant and painful disease.
If you do purchase one, or already have one in your family, please bring it in to us so we can assess them and make sure they are comfortable. ❤️

Beautiful Logan is a happy boy who came in for a checkup. He has impaired vision and his blind dog halo is an invaluable tool to help him get around safely.
Similar to the way a cane is used to support a blind person check their surroundings for any obstacles a halo helps a pet with vision loss. This is especially important in unfamiliar surroundings so they have a barrier to keep them safe and won’t bump into anything.
All angels like Logan deserve halos ❤️

When you have an elderly pet with a terminal disease like this little fluffball, you don’t just want a fancy clinic full of machines, you want the absolute best evidenced based clinical minds in Doha ensuring that your pet is comfortable and pain free. Dr. Eric is an absolute genius when it comes to veterinary science and leaves no symptom without explanation and a treatment plan that is on point and extremely well thought out.
If your pet could speak they would ask you to take them to QVC ❤️
