Manuka is a kitten with a guardian angel in an abaya.
He was found with serious leg wounds and was underweight, had open wounds on his legs, an ulcer on his tongue, swelling in one leg and tested positive for Giardia. Not a great day for a wee kitten.
Lucky for him his angel is completely committed to his rescue and he had his bandage changes and healing love from Dr Emma and the team this morning. ❤️

Gorgeous Toomy is an aspiring ballerina but, like many pets, suffers from Osteochondritis Dissecans. This is a joint condition in which the bone underneath the cartilage of a joint dies due to lack of blood flow. This bone and cartilage can then break loose, causing pain and hindering joint motion.
Luckily Toomy came in to see Dr. T and she is passionate about using clinically proven supplements that ease joint stiffness, support the bone structure and promotes mobility to help cats and dogs stay active and healthy.
On YuMOVE joint care, Toomy will be pirouettes again in no time ❤️

Why do cat bites get infected so easily?
When a cat bites, its sharp canine teeth easily puncture skin leaving small but deep wounds in the skin. These punctures seal over quickly trapping bacteria from the cat’s mouth under the skin of the bite victim.
These bites can be dangerous both to other animals and humans.
Depending on the location and depth of the would, the bacteria can spread in the surrounding tissues, causing cellulitis or it can distribute through the blood to other areas causing septicemia (blood poisoning).
We are seeing a number of cats with horrifically infected cat bites all of which would have died if not treated.
If your pet gets bitten, please call for an appointment and encourage your house sitters to do the same if you are traveling. Left untreated a serious infection can develop in 24 to 48 hours.
Some wounds may need to be sutured and any dead tissue removed, while others will be left open to heal.
If any of our team are bitten, we seek medical advice immediately and are usually prescribed oral antibiotics and ensure tetanus and rabies shots are up to date to properly treat the injury.
Kabaier the Chameleon booked himself in for checkup when he was off his food and Dr. T. let him know he was both underweight and dehydrated.
Chameleons are a somewhat difficult pet to own due to their very specific care needs.
Dr. T got Kabaier back on the road to full health and made sure that all his food, housing and light requirements were back on track.
She explained that deficits in calcium and Vitamin A are common in Chameleon’s if their diet is not adequate and that they are also prone to infections around the mouth which can make them drool excessively and exhibit redness.
Metabolic bone disease is another condition that Chameleons can suffer from and can be fatal if it is not treated properly.
If you are considering a Chameleon as a pet, please talk to us to learn how we can help you. ❤️
Kittens can look super cute but it’s important to know that Young kittens who have been orphaned or rejected by their mum are very fragile and raising them can be difficult, time consuming and heart breaking.
To raise an orphan kitten, total dedication and commitment is required 24/7. Sadly Kittens who have not received colostrum from their mother can also have a weakened immune system and be more susceptible to disease and infection.
To avoid the inevitable heartbreak of seeing sick and dying kittens please ask us about spaying and neutering for all pets you feed. 😻
Periodontal disease in both humans and animals has been linked to many systemic diseases including kidney and liver disease, heart failure and heart attacks, lung disease, adverse pregnancy effects, cancers and complications of diabetes.
This is due to the consistent bacterial load in the mouth entering the bloodstream through bleeding or inflamed gums. Many of these conditions actually improve with proper dental treatment.
In addition to systemic diseases, periodontal infection leads to problems in and near the mouth such as tooth root abscesses, nasal infection, eye loss, jaw fractures and oral cancers.
The bottom line is that dental disease can actually shorten the lifespan of both humans and animals.
As dogs age, their dental health needs evolve due to factors that contribute to an increased risk of dental issues.
1. Weakened Immune System: making senior dogs more susceptible to oral infections, gum disease, and other dental health issues.
2. Increased Plaque and Tartar Buildup
3. Reduced Saliva Production which can hinder the natural self-cleaning process of their teeth, leading to increased plaque buildup and potential oral health issues.
4. Worn, Fractured, or Missing Teeth making it crucial to routinely check for and address any dental concerns that may arise, as they can contribute to overall health problems.
Understanding the unique dental health needs of your senior dog is the first step in ensuring their oral well-being and quality of life remain intact. We are here to help and have the only advanced Veterinary practitioners in Qatar ensuring that your senior pets receive gold standard care for the dental issues ❤️
Meet Woody who works with his Dad at Sherborne School, emotionally supporting children with special educational needs. ❤️
Woody was originally picked to be a guide dog for the blind but is now a fully qualified therapy dog. The children respond extremely well to his calm and reassuring nature.
Woody had a quick procedure and a checkup to ensure he is in tip top shape for his very important role at Sherborne. He was of course a perfect patient.
Show Woody some love: he is a true hero. ❤️

Bella saw her reflection and could not believe how gorgeous she looked after her spa session.
It’s hot out there: ask our professional Pet Stylists about the best breed specific grooms for your pet to beat the heat during potty breaks. ❤️
Just ask Bella, she gave Joewin 15/10 for fabulousness on her Yelp rating.

Malgoofa rounded up her babies and brought them in to see Dr Emma for a general health check when they were refusing to drink her milk. It takes a lot of care to keep your babies healthy. Preventatives so they don’t get worms or fleas or ticks. Vaccinations so they don’t get rabies or panleukopenia, calicivirus, or rhinotracheitis.
Checks that their ear are free of mites and their eyes are free of infection.
It’s a lot of responsibility and stress for a cat mum but Malgoofa left with her babies fully Vet checked and all the information and support she needed as a new parent to ensure they stay happy and healthy. 😻😻😻😻😻😻
It’s kitten season: don’t forget to spay and neuter all the outdoor cats you feed and keep your colonies stable. 😻
Ask us about feral spays. ❤️
Please don’t dump pets, it is 45 degrees outside and we don’t always find them before they die. 😿

Can dogs eat chocolate?
No. No. No.
Chocolate contains substances called methylxanthines. They are harmless to humans but deadly dangerous to our beloved pets due to their different metabolism mechanisms.
So when Gemma and Wilbur climbed onto a table and ate FOUR large BOXES of the very best Lindt Chocolates their Mum knew immediately that they had consumed a lethal dose.
She sped them to Dr. Natalia as they projectile vomited through the car.
The Team sprung into emergency mode, stabilised them both and held their ears back as they continued to vomit.
We are not going to lie, a chocolate poisoning that involves 2 dogs and 4 boxes of chocolates makes a humongous mess. Saving them with this level of caffeine and Theobromine injested is nothing less than heroic.
Always call if your dog eats chocolate, for some dogs even a taste can be lethal.
Wilbur and Gemma, the beagle burglars, were discharged today and after some kisses and a few thank you woofs they felt well enough to try and steal a bag of dog food as they left.
Neo checked into the QVC Pet Hotel for his Staycation and couldn’t stop licking his lips when he saw the menu options. He was also a 14/10 good boy for his free pre boarding Vet check and celebrated with a few laps of the garden and some hugs and kisses with the team.

Ok we admit it. We do not flinch when your pets kiss us on the lips because we ensure their preventatives are up to date…and we really, really love pets ❤️

🐇Rabbits need to continuously eat and p**p to keep their gut moving.
With general anesthesia a big risk is gut stasis which can be fatal.
Studies have shown the incidence of gut stasis following general anesthesia is as high as 38%.
🩺Our incredible nursing team are dedicated to providing the very best care to our patients. No matter what emergencies are happening, an experienced nurse is constantly monitoring any rabbit in recovery to ensure they are eating as soon as they wake up from their surgery and their gut stays moving.
We hear whoops of celebration when any bunny takes their first mouthful of food after recovering from their anesthetic. 🐇🥬🐇🥬❤️
Harleyquin, unapologetically fierce and fabulously strong because she sees her QVC Vets for all her checkups ❤️
Beautiful Bahar arrived for his appointment with Dr. Emma so he stays happy and healthy.
Did you know some parrots can live as long as 100 years and require an extraordinary amount of care and attention. They are also extraordinarily clever and need a lot of stimulation.
The top 7 things to consider if you have a parrot are :
🦜Provide a balanced diet
🦜Socialize them
🦜Keep them stimulated
🦜Encourage exercise
🦜Provide fresh and clean water at all times
🦜Keep their environment clean
🦜Have regular checkups with your QVC Veterinarian
The thing about happiness is that it begins with a wet nose and ends with a tail ❤️

Lili arrived for her consult and pedicure dressed for success and posed like the Supermodel she is. 🦜
Rose the Rabbit presented with blood in her urine and signs of discomfort.
Sadly uterine cancer is common in rabbits, affecting upto 80% of intact rabbits by the age of 6 years old. Dr Emma immediately suspected a tumor and started her work up.
Rose had blood work and imaging with Dr. Emma to assess for spread elsewhere in her body.
If there is no evidence of spread, surgery can be curative.
Thankfully Roses lovely owner brought Rose in after the first episode and there are currently no signs of spread. ❤️
Beautiful Rose has been spayed and is making an excellent post surgical recovery while we await the analysis of her uterus and the tumors. 🐇❤️
The best way to prevent uterine cancer is spaying. ❤️
Lassie is a beloved member of her family and they were extremely worried when she became unwell. She had pancreatitis initially but Dr. Sharlene did further investigations to rule out concurrent disease. On abdominal scan she found a splenic mass.
The tumour was benign but extremely large and at risk of rupturing, which could have been fatal.
The tumour that had been pushing on her pancreas was skillfully removed and Lassie recovered excellently.
It warms our hearts to see beautiful families reunited and able to spend precious time together after such a serious diagnosis. ❤️
We love nothing better than to get a visit from a foster pet and to hear that it failed…because they immediately fell in love and became a FOREVER family❤️

Alice was brought in as a heartbreaking emergency. She was suffering from the most hideous neglect and was a hair away from death. Ever so gradually she began to survive. Ever to gradually she began to thrive…and, after 66 days of falling in love with the team she was well enough to go to her new home. Today she returned for her checkup with Dr Eric and looks like the Happiest dog in the world. Thank you so much to Jill and her lovely Mother for letting the team know how appreciated they are. 🐇 In a world where it is so easy to hide behind a keyboard and an alias, a few cruel key strokes can destroy lives. As a team, we have all lost colleagues to the relentless compassion fatigue, depression and abuse that sadly goes hand in hand with a profession that has the highest suicide rate. We celebrate the healing hands and talented minds of our medical team. They are extraordinary and we are so grateful to our clients who take the time to acknowledge that. On the hard days it can bolster us to keep going. 🩺 The team were delighted today to be celebrated by Jill and her Mother for their expertise and unwavering passion for Veterinary medicine and the animals they care for. ❤️

Eddy was diagnosed with Bladder stones and was in a lot of pain. Dr. Sharlene did a thorough scan to get the location and then performed a textbook Cystotomy and retrieved the sharp little calculi. It looked not unlike a desert rose and definitely should not have been in Eddys bladder. Lab results came back as calcium and Eddy is now purring up a storm and feeling like a million Riyals. ❤️ If you pet is straining to urinate, or unable to urinate, this is an emergency and always needs to be seen the same day. Just call, we are here to help. ❤️

It is the time of year when feline buddies will be put at risk. 😿 These pretty flowers are often included in floral arrangements in Qatar. But did you know that the Lily can cause renal failure in cats if chewed resulting in an Emergency trip to your vet and costing a lot of riyals... 🚨If your pet has chewed, swallowed or potentially chewed/swallowed any Lilies, or licked lily pollen, it is vital your pet is seen by your Qatar Veterinary Center Veterinarian immediately. 🚨The entire plant is toxic and Cats are particularly susceptible to poisoning 🚨Don’t wait for your regular clinic to re-open as even a delay of 24 hours could put your pet’s life at risk. The symptoms of Lily poisoning include: 🩺Vomiting 🩺Kidney failure 🩺Off food 🩺Depression 🩺No urination
Sometimes really bad things happen to really good dogs. Anyone who thinks that a Veterinary team does not get affected by seeing animal abuse would be wrong. Today, after 66 days, the team who loved her around the clock and treated her body, mind and soul, were so happy to kiss her goodbye. Alice has a new home, a loving family and is pretty much the happiest dog of the day. Check out her smile.❤️

At Qatar Veterinary Center, we celebrate and support people to rescue pets. As a Veterinary Clinic, we can’t drop our scalpels in the middle of surgery and try and catch a stray animal on the side of the road. What we can do, 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year, is help kind souls rehabilitate the animals they find and bring to us, in need of medical attention. These little kittens are now in excellent hands with their rescuer after our team showed them exactly how and what to feed and ran through a precise animal husbandry plan from cleaning bottoms to health checkups to vaccinating and deworming when the kittens are older. It takes a Village to rescue and we love helping kind people to be the best pet superheroes they can be. ❤️
Not all Heroes Wear Capes…our extraordinary team make sure pets have everything they need from food to playtime, love and cuddles to ensuring the clinic is clean enough to eat off the floor. Pop in and say Hi and give the guys a high five: they are an integral part of the QVC Family ❤️
