Description:
Ivermectin is a broad spectrum anthelmintic for the control of a wide variety of endoparasites.
Praziquantel is an anthelmintic effective against flatworms.
Indications:
Endoparasitic infections in horses, caused by parasites susceptible to ivermectin or praziquantel.
Strongylus vulgaris (adult and arterial larval stages), Strongylus edentatus (adult and tissue stages),
Strongylus equinus (adult), Triodontophorus spp. (adult), Cyathostomum, Cylicocylus spp.,
Cylicostephanus spp., Cylicodontophorus spp., Gyalocephalus spp. (adult and non-inhibited
mucosal larvae), Parascaris equorum (adult and larvae), Oxyuris equi (larvae), Trichostrongylus
axei (adult), Strongyloides westeri (adult), Habronema spp. (adult), Onchocerca spp. (microfilariae),
Dictyocaulus arnfieldi (adult and larvae), Gastrophilus spp. (larvae), Anoplocephala perfoliata,
Anoplocephala magna and Paranoplocephala mamillana.
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to ivermectin or praziquantel.
Dosage and administration:
For oral administration.
The recommended dose is 0.2 mg ivermectin and 1.5 mg praziquantel per kg body weight.
This is equivalent to 1 syringe per 600 kg.
Make sure the animal’s mouth is free of feed, adjust the dosing ring on the plunger to set the
calculated dosage and administer the paste into the mouth by inserting the nozzle of the syringe
through the interdental space and depositing the required amount on the back of the tongue.
Elevate the animal’s head for a few seconds after administration to ensure the dose is swallowed.
Side effects:
Horses with heavy Onchocerca microfilariae infection may experience swelling and itching after
treatment. Destruction of large numbers of tapeworms may cause a mild transient colic and loose
faeces. Consult your veterinarian if these symptoms persist.
Precautions and warnings:
Dose accurately to prevent development of resistance caused by underdosing.
Withdrawal times:
Meat: 35 days. Do not use in mares producing milk for human consumpti
