WEEKLY HIGHLIGHTS

1. Big or small, black or not, pedigree or mix breed, all dogs are good dogs
2. Christmas came early for our pack as our package from .ro is here
3. Some off leash obedience for the pack
4. Had a couple of off leash structured walks this week
5 - 6. The pack also went on a couple of walks together as well
7. We are dropping an album soon
8. Two good dogs went on a mini pack walk together
9 - 17. We have a couple of new pack members who joined our crew this week
10. We said our fair well to Summer Grace, who relocated to the UK
11. Aky went for a day trip to Brașov
12. Someone is working hard and others are hardly working
13. Used the metro a lot this week as we are carless
14. Worked on some 3D obedience
15. .yooliaspack had all the bullies at his place for the weekend
16. Vanya helped me plan the Xmas Pack Walk
18. went to the office with his owner & was a good boy
19. Did some impulse control
20. Fed some quality food 👏🏻😘

HAPPY CUSTOMER: YOSHI

Meet Yoshi!
His owners contacted us as a last hope after previously working with 2 other trainers, since Yoshi's adoption over a year back.
Yoshi's 2 brothers, who got adopted themselves from the same shelter, got returned for serious aggression issues.
Yoshi himself was territorial, possessive, human & dog reactive when we first met.
Today was his first time out walking with other dogs.
He never had the opportunity to do that!
Today we joined forces with .yooliaspack & and of course our pack, to help Yoshi have a great first social experience!
He started out a bit confused & a little afraid, for it was a shock for him to see so many dogs around him, but proceeded to relax more and more.
By the end of the session both owners were walking him & Fuki together with no issues!
The 3 of them got empowered today!
All 3 of them saw possibility & hope.
And all 3 of them nailed the session!

No reactions. All in all a positive experience for Yoshi! 🩵🥹🙌🏻

WEEKEND PHOTO DUMP

1. Caught these two red handed sharing the bed 🫠🥹
2. These two came to board with us today
3. Gin & Vanya are like Jona & the whale 🐋
4. Yuki got a pet visit from .yooliaspack today 😄

6. The pack gathered for a nice sunny day walk in I.O.R

13. Cetatea Feldioara on the other hand was a first timer for us too

17-18. We got to work with Hermes in the twilight
20. No matter what anyone says, tired dogs will always be good dogs 🐶🐺

DOG WALKING

Is not that hard.
You can walk your dog/s properly & with no issues also!
All you have to do is:
- make sure your energy is calm & assertive
- have the proper tools (slip leashes or prong collars work best for dogs that pull)
- walk with intention
- body language matters (notice the arms are relaxed & head high)
- how you hold the leash matters (grip is important)
- have fun with it 😉

PET FRIENDLY PLACES

Having two big dogs is not easy when it comes to finding places that will accept them inside, especially in the winter season!

So we will always tag them in stories (there are even a couple of highlights on our profile called Places & Dogs where you can have some inspiration about where you can find accommodations or just restaurants & cafes) & occasionally make a post about them.

Today we had lunch in Brașov at (we did so a couple of times over the years) & as per usual they were very welcoming toward our pack indoors!

We loved the vibe, the food & the way the staff treated us & the dogs (they asked us if we wanted water for them & even had a special doggie bowl prepared).

Stoked when we get to have such great experiences!

Today was about him & was exactly how it was supposed to be.

PEDIGREE OR MIX BREED (AKA MONGREL)?

We got an answer to a question box from stories the other day, about getting a mongrel for our pack in the future.
Tho' it's not necessarily off the table for us (and we're definitely planning on fostering when the space will allow it), it's not a preference either.

We chose our dogs to be pedigree ones for several reasons including genetics, wanting to see how much the breed plays a role in the individual if raised exactly the same way, wanting to be sure that the parents were healthy physically & ok temperament wise & for our own experience with the breed in question (it's one thing to work with it for a couple of hours & a totally different thing to live under the same roof for months & years).

We will always advocate for reputable breeders who have integrity & the best interest of their chosen breed in mind.

At the same time we will always be pro adoption & rescue, as long as it is a rational, well thought out decision & not an emotional unplanned one (we've seen that go sideways more times than we care to count).

So yes, all options are ok, breeders are not demons that need to be slayed & rescuers don't have to curse everyone who gets a pedigree dog or the people who legitimately breed them.

Școala Altfel sau cm să aduci bucurie în sufletele celor mici într-o zi de toamnă!
Also, cm să speli numele unei rase portretizată ca fiind agresivă in media (Akita Inu).

This was a first for us and we didn't quite know what o expect, so imagine our surorise when both the dogs and the kids were stoked about what was happening!...

SOCIAL ANIMALS/PACK ANIMALS/HERD ANIMALS

In this picture we have animals (first & foremost).
Animals communicate with each other through energy + body language.
They can understand each other (to a certain extent) even if they don't belong to the same species.
Especially social animals, like horses & dogs, have a similar mindset in common.
They all follow calm assertive energy!
So be it when riding a horse or when walking with your dog, make sure that you feel calm confident inside & that you share love & joy when you are around them (especially when they are overwhelmed or reactive).

EXPOSURE & SOCIALIZATION

Our dogs almost always travel with us. This gets them a lot of exposure, confidence building & socialization.
We aren't dog trainers per se, but we sure do bomb proof our dogs obedience through just living life with them.
They learn everything from impulse control, sound desensitization, restaurant manners, 3D commands & everything in between!
We don't wake up & think "hey, I should train my dog for 15 minutes today" we just go for a walk & deal with whatever comes our way.
Here's a bunch of pics from our current trip to Brașov.
They did everything this morning & until the afternoon.
They got praised & rewarded a lot and they got their first meal of the day right about now.
They worked for their food by exploring, having structure, being connected & respecting commands

AKITAS - GOOD OR BAD?

These days there's talk about Akita Inu in Romania & whether the breed should be put on the dangerous breeds list or not.

To tell you the truth, Akita Inu is not a breed for just anyone. At the same time it's also not a breed to do harm for no reason.
As a matter of fact, no breed would do harm for no reason, because before we talk about breeds we should talk about dogs & the psychology behind them!

Now, can an Akita Inu bite?
Yes, of course!
As can a Bichon, an Amstaff or a mix breed.
All dogs can bite.
The question is what drives them to do so?
The answer lies in the education we give ourselves & the generations to come.

Now, this here post is about another facet of the Akita: the fun Akita, the Akita that can be a good citizen, the well bred & well raised Akita & the Akita that can be an example!

Today (and in the last 6 years) it was Fuki.
Tomorrow it can be any one of our dogs. Akita or not. Pure bred or not.
Question is: will you do your part?

Spread the word - Akitas are not dangerous!
Humans who are uneducated and ignorant are!

ȘCOALA ALTFEL W/ YOOLIA'S PACK

We know that many fellow trainers & facilities are striving to educate the people on dogs and we couldn't be more excited about everyone doing their part in this!
Shout-out to all of you, no matter where you are in Romania!

At the same time here's how we did it today.
The pictures speak 1000 words, but we'd like to point out a few things:

- some of these dogs were rehabilitation cases and not necessarily easy ones (ex. Xamura was a shut down dog when Yoolia met her back in the day & would be terrified of people; Tigra was territorial & possessive; Milo was anxious)
- some of them grew up with us and are balanced dogs, big or small
- some are breeds that today are shunned for being aggressive or dangerous for kids (ex. Fuki is an Akita Inu, Luna is an Amstaff)
- they are not the easiest of breeds to work with (most of them)

And yet here we are!
Happy kids. Happy dogs (even if a bit confused here & there for there was a lot of shouting & excitement around).
Happy teachers, us & the ones for the kids also!

Step by step, we're teaching kids to have good relationships with dogs & enjoy their presence also, all along while respecting their boundaries.
