Silken Windhounds at an AKC show?! Yep, silkens will be there, with an estimated 80-100 silkens planning to attend. Silkens are having a specialty on Saturday and Sunday.

Just wanted to reach out as we have had some changes and wanted to give everyone the latest information. The show committee has been working hard over the holidays and was able to get the fifth day back for the Oklahoma Summer Classic Cluster. Our show now will start Wednesday 28 June thru 2 July 2023, with move in date Tuesday 27 June 2023….same as it has been since we moved to the fairgrounds. I understand some may have made plans based off the 4 day show and we apologize for this inconvenience, but we hope having the extra day is beneficial. See Flyer for event details. Entries are not open yet but the store (grooming, clinics, performance entries, etc) will be live 1 March 2023 and we will continue to update the site as we add more events. We are even adding a third ring for Barn Hunt due to the amount of people we wait listed last year.

There might be a male available to the right person

The right person is committed to this rare numbered breed, high level of engagement, has studied the breed, breed history, status of recognition, health and much more for some time, and has a good and knowledgable mentor in the breed.

There are so few of these dogs in the world that every owner is automatically a breed embassador.
For this reason I do require quite a lot of knowledge about the breed for people who wants a puppy.

To know about dogs in general and a lot about sighthounds is one thing, to know about a rare breed that is not recognized in most countries and what that really means in all aspects of owning, showing, doing performance sports and maybe breeding etc , that is something else.

There is nothing wrong about being a “newbie”, we all started that way, but I require a little bit more if you want a puppy from me. Most of all I want to see passion for the breed.

March 22, 2001, Lizzie, Starcastle Hounds Firelizard was born.

Lizzie was the first Silken Windhound puppy to be born in Europe and of course here in Sweden.

Photos shows Lizzie from 2 days old to her 17th (!) birthday!

Lizzie was really 1 pup out of 3. Lizzie was born first. Next puppy was stuck sideways. We came in to the emergency clinic at 3 in the morning, that had only one vet and one assistant working the night shift.

They were busy with not one, but two car crashes with dogs in really bad condition.
And the emergencies kept coming in and a pregnant Omni (Lizzies mother) was put on the backburner.

Omni was not taken care of until after lunch.
Puppies came out without C-section but it was way too late for them, they were stillborn.

So Lizzie, my firstborn puppy grew up as a singleton.
Today, many years, litters and puppies later, Lizzie is still my heartdog. She is sorely missed.

Lizzie is still here in a way, most of my dogs at home are her descendants ❤

A friend of mine said something today that is so true.

We live in a time of instant gratification.
People demand to get their puppy NOW and what is more, they DO demand to get one!

But every truly dedicated breeder (and Silken breeders are) pour their hearts blood into every puppy.

It is not about your right to buy a puppy, it is about you proving to the breeder that you are actually worthy of getting one.

Welcome to your new addiction! And you don’t even know it yet.

Silkens are even more incredible than you think. They are magical creatures with Jedi reflexes and mind tricks. You quickly wonder how you ever lived without one.

One? Wait, two would be playmates for each other! And that is why they are like potato chips... you can never have just one.

You’ve been warned. It’s an amazingly wonderful slippery slope! (We have 4 with 2 greyhounds and a dogcat).

And this is how their master plan works. To draw you in and woo you with how amazing they are, how easy to train, and blend in with a routine. Soon, very soon, you’ll start to think “hey, a second one as a playmate wouldn’t be difficult”.

What you don’t know is that Silken telepathy is real and they know what you want often before you even know it.

But they can also plant ideas. It’s how they will take over the world!

Which really wouldn’t be a bad thing, would it?

På grund av återbud är Hoppalanta åter till salu.

Hoppalanta är kullens superminglare.
Hon älskar folk, ja hon älskar nog det mesta.
Ovanpå det är hon en guttaperkaboll och en outtröttlig energizing bunny.

Dessutom tycks hon ha en inbyggd känsla för inkallning.
Ropar man på valparna kommer hon som ett skott, de andra valparna – not so much.
Dom har alltid en massa ”ska bara” att göra först 😁

Något för ny ägare att bygga vidare på .

Valparna är 14 veckor nu.

Update September 27
Tjoho, now named Pojken, now share his life with 2 other Silken boys here in Sweden.

𝐓𝐣𝐨𝐡𝐨, 𝟏𝟑 𝐯𝐞𝐜𝐤𝐨𝐫 𝐠𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐢𝐥𝐤𝐞𝐧 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐩, 𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐫 𝐞𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐢𝐧 𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐧 𝐯ä𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐭 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐚 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧

Han är väldigt laidback, inte alls samma energizing bunny som syskonen.

Tjoho är lite tjuren Ferdinand under korkeken.

Han leker ofta lite för sig själv, eller sitter och filosoferar.
Självklart leker han med syskonen också men verkar vilja ha lite ensamtid ibland.

Vill helst se honom i ett mycket lugnt hem, inte fyllt med barn, folk in och ut och mängder med aktiviteter.
Jag kan se honom med en pensionär till exempel. Eller nån som jobbar hemifrån och då inte bara under pandemin...

Han är också en hund som har måttligt intresse av syskonen och i motsats till många andra vinthundar tror jag inte han har nåt emot att vara ensamhund i hushållet. Men då behövs det en ägare som har honom med jämnt.

Tjoho är väldigt gosig och sitter gärna i knät.
Han är inte den allra modigaste valpen i gänget, han är till exempel fortfarande lite tveksam till att gå nerför trapporna, något syskonen gjort utan att ens fundera i flera veckor.

Tjoho är en lovande valp om man nu funderar på utställning men till skillnad från sina bröder har han inte den där självklara stjärnglansen och går omkring som om han ägde världen. Tjoho är sig själv nog och det räcker långt
