Sunny weather only can mean one thing 🌼☀️☀️🌼Outdoor training session. Last weekend the main focus was on:
#nosework
#staytraining
#dogfitness
Not sure yet who loved it more me or the dogs ❤️
#hundträning #noseworkträning #malmöhund
Anytime, everywhere- with nosework you will explore your city from another perspective- nose side ;) #noseworkträning #malmö #hundträning #noseworkdog
First ever city nosework game ! Noses worked 100 % to find all cinnamon and orange in hidden rings ! Teams needed to find the rings to progress to the next one- meaning a combination of the nose and brains to solve the clues leaded everyone to the finish line ! ❤️🌺 thank you @psiegniazdo for making it happen. It was the first time and definitely not the last one so stay tuned ! #nosework #havefunwithnosework #szczecin #noseworktraining
Be a part of her day 🌺🌷 and get some inspiration for your daily walk ❤️#noseworkträning #hundpromenad #hundträning #hundarmalmö #aktiveringhund
Those are her superpowers ! Easy training to do at home to increase body awareness, core strength and muscle tone in hind legs ! With nosework, she worked in a busy environment but still was focused and engaged- sometimes having a break from an activity is what your dog might need ! And giving the dog space during the search is gold❤️

Making your walk more fun with retrieving games ? Starting out at home, moving outdoors ✨ great to build confidence, show your dog that working away from you can be fun and a great tool that can be used in nosework (scent pools/ pulling odour/ independence). Have fun out there ❤️✨🌿
🎄🎄17, 18, 19 December 🎄🎄 homemade toys
During this Christmas rush, empty boxes, wrapping paper can create a Disneyland for your dog that he might have been dreaming for a while now. Get your kid or a friend involved and create those unique pieces of art that your dog can destroy with one sniff ;) let the dogs destroy boxes, open presents and unwrap any toilet paper rolls- making unique decorations for this Christmas 🎄🎄

🎄🎄13, 14, 15, 16 December 🎄🎄 Pattern games- inspired by Leslie McDevitt from Control Unleashed program.
Pattern games are a great tool to help your dog to feel more comfortable in new environments. For the dog this game becomes predictable and social pressure decreases. It’s yet again about empowering your dog: for him to make decision, have control over ‘safe’ distance and to have dialogue and not monologue ❤️🐾
👀LAT- Look At That: use it when you want your dog to focus on YOU when the dog shows something in the environment (another dog/ piece of sausage/ problems with other people). To turn above triggers to cues for this game which can normalize those triggers
🍚Super bowls: to help the dog to change emotional state towards a certain item/ person ranging from vacuum cleaner to a kid riding a bike
1️⃣2️⃣3️⃣ game: to help the dog to move away from a difficult situation and learning heel walk

🎄🎄12th December Nosework: high hides🎄🎄
🐾Start from hidden hides to practice better freeze
🐾Continue with accessible- higher accessible- on the edge of the nose
🐾Do this search Max 1 time per training
🐾Searches starting from scent accumulation to the scent source
🐾Increase gradually time of search (by introducing empty searches/ few searches in a row)
🐾Give the dog space and time
🐾Better to give the treat faster and treat fountain from the scent source
🐾Have additional searches to find treats/ toys hidden on the height of the
The goal is for the dog to learn and make connections so that every next search can be better- it is much better to lower the difficulty criteria than showing the dog the sample ❤️

🎄🎄we slowed down the tempo but let’s continue with the count down 9th-10th-11th December🎄🎄Separation anxiety
Separation anxiety (not to be mistaken with problems connected with separation) has many faces, from barking, destruction or elimination to silence. It is a panic attack, a phobia coming from enormous fear that the dog is feeling once left alone. How a dog responds to fear is dictated by genetic and environmental factors. SA is a behavioral emergency and it’s never too bad or too late to start the treatment 🚨
Couple things worth remembering
❌ You didn’t cause your dog’s separation anxiety
🧥Systematic desensitization to keys, jacket etc in training is critical- to increase predictability- introducing this part AFTER showing a dog that staying alone is safe
🔑After you start training it’s not recommended to leave the dog home alone- that will reverse the positive experience- remember this situation is just temporary
📦 leaving a dog in the crate can only escalate panic attacks BUT confinement training plays an important part
🦴🍖leaving a dog with a kong etc can give false observations on dog’s body language
👋going out and coming back- acknowledge the dog- do not ignore, limit high emotions
⏰do not wait until your dog stops barking- you can not reinforce fear, barking is a sign of stress
💊medication can be already introduced (with a conversation with a vet) after 1/2 weeks of training if there are no signs of improvement. It helps to lower the anxiety and creates space for learning.
Start with small steps- step out for a second- than two- 15 sec- 30 sec- 15sec… with breaks in between so that you create predictability for your dog. After couple of those try outs, make the last step slightly longer for example a minute and observe how your dog was felling during alone time‼️the time should always be adjusted to YOUR dog and what he/she feels it’s safe for her to stay alone‼️ engage everyone
🎄🎄8th December 🎄🎄Communication is the key to it all ! Listen, ask questions and you will find magic again in your relation !

It was such a pleasure to welcome Lipton and Charlotte from @triangelhunden21 for the class in the busy shopping center ! 🥳🎉🥳
