A holistic approach to puppy training = a fulfilled and settled .rosie.t 🤩

As we experience with majority of our puppies, Rosie had major FOMO (fear of missing out). She wanted to be with her humans all the time, barking/crying at night & whenever alone at home. She would also dash out doors any opportunity she got. However, once she got outside, she was unable to walk on her leash and was wary of the elevator..

During her lodge and learn, we taught her to look to humans for guidance and worked out a daily routine to teach her how to properly expand her energy and also to learn some independence! Rosie learnt;
- The leash and harness is not a toy to bite on, instead it is a tool that gives her access to the great outdoors
- The outdoors is the best place to expand her energy by sniffing, foraging, rolling in grass and walking with friends
- 100% reliability with her toileting after 3 days of her new routine (+ close monitoring and management at home)
- Her crate is her safe space and the best place to relax in for stress free and uninterrupted sleep
- Impulse control keeps her safe! Just keep calm and look to humans for guidance. Her humans will definitely help her navigate every situation 🤩

Tanglin, the baby faced German Shepherd Dog, is finally growing into her ears 😍 She still has some way to go!!

A huge perk of being a dog trainer is getting to watch our puppies grow up to be happy, settled and fulfilled dog! Dog training is a life long process - which means a life long relationship with us 🥰

I’m thoroughly enjoying Tanglin and her awesome family! Thankful for their trust in the training program as we transition Tanglin from our Puppy Start Right Program to Basic Obedience Training. Using R+ / reward-based training methods, we continue to see Tanglin’s enthusiasm for training even when we started to add more structure! I was so glad to see her getting used to her muzzle with a smile on her face too 🥰

She is definitely a 🐶

Taking pictures of our dogs should not be a stressful ordeal for either handler and dogs! Look at our K9 Kampong doggies happily waiting for the release cue. We love how they run back to us for their pawdeling payment (in treats of course) 🤩

How do we do it?
1. Dogs automatically stop walking when handler stops
2. Get your dogs attention
3. A reliable “Sit Stay”
4. Get your dog to look at the camera with a “Watch me”
5. Wait for Release Cue - “okay all done”

Practice these 5 items and enjoy taking awesome photos of your dogs!

NEW YEAR, NEW ME! I hope that Tisha will inspire us all to work hard to become a better version of ourselves 💪🏻

Tisha is a dog that will always hold a special place in my heart. She has taught me so much as a trainer! We’ve worked hard and played hard together to get her to where she is today! I’m so incredibly proud of the brave girl and all the progress that she has made🤩

Tisha, the happiest pup 🤪

When I first met Tisha, she was a highly anxious dog. She was constantly on edge during walks and then would feel restless at home.

A big breakthrough for Tisha came when we started 🤩

It helped her enjoy her walks and to grow in confidence outdoors. By expending her energy appropriately outdoors, the perks have extended to her being much more settled at home too!

Decompression walks look different from dog to dog. Ultimately, each individual dog decides what is fun for them and determines the pace that they’re comfortable going at.

Go out and explore! Let your dog simply appreciated a short respite from out concrete jungle 🐶

Welcoming these handsome brothers to Singapore 🥰

Brix (a retired K9 GSD) and Hunter (a HK special) are the luckiest dogs, whose pawrents landscaped a big open garden for them to run around and sun tan in! We had lots of fun making full use of their garden, building enthusiasm for training and working on engagement cues. By the end of the session, we managed to have the dogs keeping their eyes on us while we walked past a group of chickens!

These smart pups are definitely 🤩

Respecting boundaries is one of the foundational pillars of dog training! It is more than just teaching your dog to follow a cue. I like to tell my trainees that boundary training is a lifestyle!

One of my house rules includes “No dogs in the kitchen!” I make this rule very clear to my dog and doggy guests by;
1. Environmental management by keeping the kitchen door closed
2. I remind my dogs to sit and stay outside to prevent them from following me into the kitchen
3. If a dog crosses the boundary, I am quick to back them out of the kitchen
4. Praise all the for respecting my boundaries 🤩

The key to success is CONSISTENCY in every scenario! You can’t let your dog follow you into the kitchen when you’re washing your hands, but expect them to stay outside the room when you’re cooking. This could end up confusing your dog instead 😵‍💫

The cutest little Pax showing us that rewards come in different forms! Pax loves his toys > snacks. I enjoyed watching him kicking the little squeaky chick around and rolling/rubbing himself on it! Congratulations on graduating your puppy start right program 🥰 You’re such a smart, happy pup 🐶

Food treats may be the easiest form of rewards when practicing repetition, but different forms of rewards can be used to maintain the behavior over time! Other ways to reward your dog includes toys, affection, having a little run with your dog. Ultimately, the best reward is your dog’s favorite interaction or whatever your dog wants in that moment!

A good training reminder is that while we may wean off treats over time, we must always reward our dogs in other ways! After all, our deserve to know that they’re doing well 🤩

The cutest little puppy, Midnight, and his awesome handler demonstrating one of my favorite skills on walks - An informal recall to redirect Midnights attention, followed by continuing to create more distance from distractions 🤩

Midnight and his mum are so great! His progression is so impressive that I feel like I’m meeting a totally new dog each session 🤩 He has become so enthusiastic about walks and training. It’s hard to believe that the first time I met him, he was glued frightened to the lift. Good job Midnight! I’m excited to continue having more sessions with you, you’ll never cease to amaze me 🥰 You’re such a 🐶

This giant puppy, Mocha, has such an incredible story. She was once a dog confined in a backyard.. But the lucky girl now has a new family with the biggest hearts, who has opened up their home to welcome her in 🥰

Her family is keen to take her out and expose her to more experiences! However, under-socialized as a puppy, Mocha tends to be overzealous in interacting with her environment on her walks. She is too eager to check out everything and everyone!

Our first outdoor session, we worked on grabbing Mocha’s attention and keeping the engagement going. Just look at how enthusiastic she is to work with Dad! What an amazing dog 🐶

We want Mocha to realize that she is going to have many new life experiences TOGETHER with her family. All she needs to do is look at her humans and they will guide her through it 🥰

I’m so excited to watch Mocha grow with more sessions to come!

Hello, all my fellow 🐶, what are some of your favorite chews? Please share it with us!

I’m Chowder, an 8kg PomxShetland mix. I’m a moderate strength chewer and my current favorite chew is a 12cm beef trachea (aka moo tube) - it keeps me occupied at a cafe for ~20min!

Do remember to always supervise your dogs when they are given a chew to prevent a choking hazard!

We love it when we get end of session updates from our trainees! 99% of the the time, our doggies are KNOCKED OUT for the rest of the day 😴💤

The training methodology K9 Kampong believes in is to get our dogs to WORK TOGETHER WITH US! We keep our dogs thinking about how to engage with us to earn themselves rewards. Training and keeping our dog engaged is great mental stimulation and tiring work! These pups are can surely testify 😂 Have a good snooze all you 🐶🐶🐶
