Commonly used in physical therapy, therapeutic ultrasound is a non-invasive treatment that sends high-frequency sound waves deep into your pet's muscles and soft tissues.

The gentle vibrations create generated heat within your fur kid's affected areas, alleviating their pain and reducing muscle spasms. By soothing your pet's sore muscles and joints, this therapy also helps to ⬇️ reduce the pain and inflammation they are experiencing.

Furthermore, therapeutic ultrasound can stimulate fibroblasts and promote soft tissue healing, which helps to repair damaged ligaments, tendons, and muscles.

Have you ever wondered how pets handle acupuncture? πŸ€”

Truth be told, many pets actually tolerate acupuncture well and don't need sedation! Some pets may squirm or twitch when the needles are first inserted, but you don't have to worry, because most animals stay still once the needles are in place. If needles are not tolerated at all, we may use laser acupuncture as an alternative, as it has also been shown to be effective.

But if you still feel concerned or are worried that your fur baby may be afraid, you're welcome to stay with them during the session 🫢

Contact Bluewater Vet today to find out how pet acupuncture can benefit your fur child!

Is your pet feeling anxious or stressed? 😩 Pet acupuncture is a safe, gentle therapy that can help to address those issues.

By triggering the release of endorphins, pet acupuncture can calm your pet's mind and boost their overall wellbeing. It helps to relax them and their nervous system while reducing their stress. Pet acupuncture is also effective for pets with behavioural issues, as it helps to manage anxiety-related behaviours. Some common stress-related medical conditions that may benefit from acupuncture include stress induced over-grooming (psychogenic alopecia), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and feline idiopathic cystitis (FIC).

Whether you want to help your pet recover from an injury, manage their joint issues, or just stay fit, underwater treadmill therapy could be beneficial.

As its name suggests, your furry friend is placed onto an underwater treadmill with settings tailored to their specific condition, size, and goals.

The buoyancy of water πŸ’§ helps reduce impact and strain on muscles and joints, making movement easier while still providing a safe, low-impact workout for your fluffy companion.

☝️ However, it is important to note that not all pet conditions are suited for this therapy. Do consult with us before booking an underwater treadmill therapy session for your fur baby.

Extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) is another form of non-invasive treatment for your beloved fur kid 🐾 Using high-energy soundwaves, ESWT helps to treat and manage different types of musculoskeletal conditions. These soundwaves stimulate tissue repair, reduce pain, and improve functionality, and may offer a non-invasive alternative to surgery for many patients.

This shockwave therapy is safe and effective for animals when performed by a trained therapist πŸ’ͺ Each session usually lasts for around 5 to 15 minutes, depending on your pet's condition, the size of the treatment area, and your pet's response to ESWT. Consult Bluewater Vet today to see if this therapy is right for your beloved pet.

While some pets may respond quickly to acupuncture, this is not always the case. Pet acupuncture is a process, not a quick fix, and it may take longer to see improvements in some animals.

Even if there are signs of recovery from the acupuncture session, progress may be subtle and inconspicuous. Although the changes may seem unnoticeable or insignificant, rest assured that these small shifts can add up over time to create meaningful improvements to your pet's condition 😊

Moreover, every animal responds to acupuncture differently. Each pet has a unique body and condition, and various factors can influence their reaction to acupuncture.

You may have reservations about pet acupuncture if this is your first encounter, but worry not! πŸ™‚β€β†”οΈ Let us break down what to keep an eye out for in a veterinarian when considering acupuncture for your fur child.

Pet acupuncture is safe for your pet when performed by licensed veterinarians who have gone through legitimate training. One way to identify whether a veterinarian is equipped with the proper certifications is to look for the letters ""CVA"" behind their name, which stands for Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist. On top of holding an accredited veterinary license, these veterinarians have gone through additional veterinary acupuncture training. Hence, they are qualified to diagnose your pet and administer acupuncture treatments safely.

When you speak to the veterinarian, they should be able to clearly communicate a detailed treatment plan, expected outcomes, and potential side effects. You can also ask them about their experience treating pets similar to yours and the specific condition being addressed.

If you thought pet acupuncture was a recent phenomenon, you would be mistaken! 🫒

Veterinary acupuncture dates back over 3000 years in the Zhou dynasty and was initially used for horses 🐴 in military settings to ensure their health and performance. Animal acupuncture was later introduced in the United States and subsequently to the rest of the world in the 1970s by two acupuncturists, John Ottaviano and Gene Bruno.

Half a decade later, this age-old treatment is still being practised around the globe as a part of holistic pet care. At Bluewater Vet, we proudly offer pet acupuncture as one of our services to help improve your pet's quality of life. Contact us today to discover how this procedure can benefit your fur baby.

Did you know that pet acupuncture is an extremely beneficial medical treatment that can be performed as a complementary treatment to Western medicine? πŸ‘€

While pet acupuncture is not some magical procedure that can instantly cure your pet, it can be helpful for pets with conditions like arthritis, hip dysplasia, slipped discs, and loose kneecaps. Furthermore, if your pet is suffering from internal medical conditions such as kidney disease, gastrointestinal issues, or seizures, pet acupuncture can target these problems as well.

Before starting acupuncture treatment, however, we recommend that your pets first receive a diagnosis, as acupuncture may mask the actual symptoms of your pet's condition. We recommend using acupuncture alongside Western medicine to help manage your pet's condition.

Pet acupuncture is beneficial for your furry friend's well-being, given how it can help alleviate various health conditions alongside conventional treatments.

On some occasions, your pet may undergo some minor side effects after an acupuncture session. He/she may feel a little sore or stiff in places for up to 48 hours, and/or may also seem lethargic for up to 24 hours. Rest assured that your pet just needs a bit of time to rest and recuperate after a session; if it seems to affect them for longer, be sure to take them for a quick check-up to make sure everything is πŸ†—

We at Bluewater Vet are ready to help see to your pet's acupuncture needs and ensure they can enjoy a pleasant experience from start to finish! πŸ₯°
