Mushroom Buddies is an initiative of Employment For Persons With Intellectual Disabilities (E4PID) Co-Operative.

Currently we are mainly run by volunteers, with a goal of providing employment for special needs to grow & market mushrooms in an urban farm.

It’s Christmas Eve, and our team was hard at work at the farm this morning to fulfill orders for our restaurant customers. It’s a busy season, and we’re committed to making sure they get their fresh mushrooms on time! On Christmas Day, we will be working too thanks to our volunteers! ❤️

The great news? Our hardworking staff had plenty of Christmas gifts to bring home this morning —what a thoughtful surprise to wrap up the day!

We’re so happy to be mentioned in THE STRAITS TIMES ANNUAL BEST EATS LIST of 2024, as a place to get fresh, organically grown Lion’s Mane Mushrooms! ✨ A big thank you to Tan Hsueh Yun for highlighting Mushroom Buddies in her article.🙏

Over three years ago, we were the first farm in Singapore to grow and sell fresh, organically grown Lion’s Mane mushrooms. But that’s not all – we’re also proud to be the first mushroom farm in Singapore run entirely by volunteers and employing only youth who are differently-abled. 🌱🤝

This recognition means a lot to us, and we couldn’t have made it this far without the amazing support of our community!

Here’s to many more mushrooms, and to growing together! 🙌💚

MRT disruptions can cause a chain reaction of challenges. 🚂 Today’s East-West line breakdown affected many, including Allan, our staff with Down Syndrome.

But amidst the chaos, kindness shone through! ❤ When Allan faced commuting challenges, our young volunteer Yi Xuan went the extra mile to help Allan get home safely. She accompanied him to take a bus to another MRT Station so he could get home from there. This kindness fills gaps, empowering individuals with special needs.

A huge thank you to Yi Xuan for embodying our values of kindness, compassion, and inclusivity. 👫 It’s very difficult to anticipate all kinds of unexpected situations for individuals with special needs travelling ‘independently’. We’re grateful for care and concern from co-workers and strangers when such situations arise.

Lion’s Mane mushrooms in Chilli Crab Sauce! 😋
Another easy to cook local favourite using our fresh Lion’s Mane mushrooms with award winning SSH Chilli Crab Sauce ! When cooked, the fibrous texture of these mushrooms resembles crab or lobster meat.! YUM!

Our locally grown fresh Lion’s Mane mushrooms are incredibly versatile and can be prepared in various ways. Pan-seared Lion’s Mane mushrooms are a delicious twist. Follow these steps:
1. Slice the fresh Lion’s Mane mushrooms into planks. If the mushrooms feel a bit heavy, they’re holding some moisture.
Remove excess moisture by cooking each side in a dry pan.
2. Add oil or butter to the pan and cook until golden brown, adding depth of flavour to the Lion’s Mane.
3. Before removing from the pan, add a splash of soy sauce, tamari, or sea salt with black pepper. They are delicious this way, with earthy, sweet and umami flavour.
4. Experiment with different seasonings or sauces to elevate the taste.
Lion’s Mane mushrooms have a delicate texture and subtle flavour, making them versatile ingredients in various culinary dishes. We are excited to share more of these creations with you throughout the year.
