Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) can be a common ailment among cats. Primarily caused by bacterial infection, it is exacerbated by age, existence of other medical conditions, and lack of physical activity. If your cat’s diet comprises only dry food, that’s also a cause for concern, since dehydration will increase the risk of UTI.

And there are telltale signs to help you detect and address the issues early. Some of them include your cat exhibiting difficulty or pain during urination (see more symptoms in visuals).

If you notice any of the following signs, contact your vet immediately. If left untreated, UTI could lead to fatal consequences.

Depending on severity, your vet may prescribe medication, changes to her diet (including greater hydration) as well as surgery or therapy if required. And in consultation with your vet, you can also consider the following home remedies:

🐾 Ensure that your cat stays hydrated - provide more water or tasty bone broth;
🐾 Feed her cranberries / cranberry juice;
🐾 Add extra litter boxes; and
🐾 Feed her dietary supplements

Don’t fret when your cat retches.

He does so (or regurgitates) for various reasons. He could be / have:

🐾 Expelling hairballs. This is due to their habit of licking themselves while cleaning their fur;

🐾 Experiencing an upset stomach, due to something he’s consumed, including medication side effects. These are mild and would resolve on their own;

🐾 Having an allergic reaction to some trigger foods. And this is one key reason why you must prepare your own food for your cat when boarding with us;

🐾 Consumed foreign objects. Such incidents can be serious, but are easily resolved with medical attention; and

🐾 Suffering from parasites, especially if he’s a kitten. Treat the parasites and the vomiting will cease.

Whatever it is, it’s important not to panic.

Vomiting alone isn’t always a sure sign of a serious situation. But when the vomiting becomes profuse or frequent, and is accompanied by other tell-tale signs including appetite loss, lethargy, fever, diarrhoea and a change in his litter box habits, it’s best to consult the vet.

A very responsive and curious two-year-old mixed ragdoll, Qiu Qiu thoroughly enjoyed our attention and affection. In fact, he learnt very quickly that every time we called his name, it would be followed by a whole lot of affection and rubs.

So, without missing a single beat and batting an eyelid, Qiu Qiu will always be there when he hears his name. =P

GeGe is a beautiful grey Maine C**n who enjoyed a fortnight stay with us.

Sterilising your cat is a difficult yet important decision.

For a start, sterilising your cat helps to prevent undesired overpopulation. Female cats are capable of multiple pregnancies within a single reproductive season. That means more than 100 kittens in a lifetime!

For male cats, neutering can help to remove excessive scent-marking and turf-guarding behaviour. And that will go a long way in keeping your homes clean.

More importantly, sterilisation helps to increase your cat’s chance of a longer and healthier life, especially through protection from diseases. Female cats, for example, are susceptible to mammary gland cancer, which in cats is said to be more than 90 to 95 % malignant.

Pang Pang is a playful 4-year-old female who's quietly observant and really selective with her choice of fun. On the other hand, her 1-year-old housemate, Tiger, is an adventure buff who just dives right in. Together, they complement each other perfectly well, make the best house and room mates, and are a whole load of fun to be with!

In fact, Pang Pang and Tiger are like family to us, and we’re thankful that they’ve made T&J Cat Inn their “second home”.

Every time they’re here, Pang Pang and Tiger usually stay in the three-level premium loft - a luxurious, value-for-money option which can comfortably house up to three guests from the same household.

And if looks could kill, well … No wonder our furry little friend has got himself a perfectly befitting IG handle of , thanks to his paw parents.

But reality is, Tobi’s got a SUPER likeable personality.

Look past the stares and you’ll see that Tobi’s extremely adorable, affectionate and playful just like every kitten his age ought to be. In fact, come April this year, he’ll be 1 year old!

And he’s certainly got character - befitting of a debonair British shorthair from Ireland.

Sherlock is a cautiously curious cat.

And in every way, he reminds us of the famed Detective Holmes.

The way he inspects the compound at T&J Cat Inn like it’s a crime scene, exploring every nook and cranny, and turning over all the odds and ends - searching for evidence and clues. Just absolutely hilarious!

Another curious thing about Sherlock - after all the prowling, he loves going back up to snuggle up in his cabin.

Kinda like how Sherlock Holmes would hole up at 221b Baker Street whenever he needs to think on a difficult case. And think. And think again.

Until that “aha” moment and he’s off on the hunt again.

You’re truly a Detective, Sherlock the Cat, with a great name to match!

Pepper and Oreo are both three-and-a-half months old each. And they're sisters.

They are very close (And we mean, VERY close).

Everywhere Pepper is, Oreo is too. It's like being inseparable from your shadow, and your shadow from you.

They play ball together, wiggle the wand together, sleep together, drink milk together, enjoy our boarding facilities together. In fact, there's virtually NOTHING they don't do together.

But that's precisely why we love 'em to bits! And they're super cute this way!

One-year-old Wednesday is NOT your average cat.

(Then again, every guest who had boarded with or was groomed by us, isn’t!).

But you see. There’s just something about Wednesday that’s uniquely her, and which makes her super-cute on her own terms.

And we're confident that you too will be highly amused by her antics, fixation on grey furry objects, and her amazing acrobatic skills.

At T&J Cat Inn, we make it a point to observe our guests. This helps us to better understand his or her personality and behaviours, and to customise our approach in caring for them.

Ringworm is a common name given to a fungal infection, caused by an organism known as dermatophytes. And cats are very susceptible to getting ringworms - typically a very specialised species known to easily spread to dogs and humans as well.

Because they are contagious by direct contact, it’s important to ensure that infected areas are properly wiped down. Fungal spores can remain dormant on surfaces like combs, brushes, food bowls, furniture, bedding, carpet, or other areas for up to 18 months, therefore posing a threat to others who come into contact with the contamination.

But fret not! If your cat has unfortunately contracted the ringworm, do seek medical attention immediately and they can be treated. What’s also important is that you wipe down your place and remove every trace!

Ace the Cat is an adorable one-year-old with a penchant for adventure. Always curious, he's always on the lookout for new adventures and experiences.

Nothing escapes his eyes. Nothing escapes his paws. Nothing escapes him. Period.

Every moving or interesting object fascinates him to no end, including us. Whenever we're up in the play lounge, Ace would never fail to show up, wanting a piece of the action!

And he never passes on a good rub, following us wherever we go, asking like Oliver Twist did: Please, I want some more!

At T&J Cat Inn, we make sure our guests are purrfectly clean and well-groomed - in six important steps!

For a start, we (i) brush away loose tufts of hair. You’d know there’s always a lot of that to get through.

We then (ii) cut the nails, (iii) wash the ears, (iv) clean the eyes and nose plus the areas surrounding them, (v) shave their paws and legs as well as their butts. And then (vi) nudge them into the bath for a fantastic wash and fresh smelling result! Watch the bath demo video on our IG!

If you’re not taking the boarding services, we also do grooming as a service. And we pay similar attention to details as well - to ensure that your cat is returned to you, all fresh and immaculately groomed.

So, is a Tiger or a Tabby Cat?

One thing’s for sure: he’s one super cool dude who boarded with us recently! And whose antics and cuteness completely bowled us over!

Among many interesting quirks, Tiger is supremely shy, cautious and calculated while he’s exploring.

Perhaps, it’s also the same little quirk that sees him going back to his cat-cave at the Inn after a short walk.

And he thoroughly enjoys his little private space at T&J Cat Inn, and like all our other guests, his rubs and all the attention!
