Tired of your dog judging you for being boring? Yeah, we’ve all been there. Lucky for you, Bark of Duty has got some ideas to keep your pup entertained so they stop giving you the side-eye. 👀
1. Physical Enrichment: Dog Sports like Trailing or FetchBesides just your regular walks, you can also look into doing dog sports such as trailing or fetch to provide the physical exercise that helps to keep your dog active and healthy.
2. Mental Enrichment: Puzzle Toys or Snuffle MatsEngage your dog’s brain with a puzzle toy or a snuffle mat. Hide treats inside these toys, and watch as your dog uses their nose and problem-solving skills to find their reward. This keeps them mentally sharp and prevents boredom—perfect for those days when a long walk isn’t possible.
3. Social Enrichment: Doggy PlaydatesOnly if you dog enjoys it, you can also organise a doggy playdate with a friend’s dog. These social interactions are great for boosting your dog’s confidence, improving social skills, and tiring them out in the process.

Just like us, dogs can be allergic to all sorts of things – from food ingredients to pollen to that fancy new shampoo you bought just for them. But here’s the kicker: dogs can’t exactly tell us when they’re feeling itchy or uncomfortable. So, how do you know if your furry friend is having an allergic reaction?
Here are the top 3 tell-tale signs @namylvetsurgery suggests that you look out for, to know if your dog might be dealing with allergies:
1. Excessive Itching and Scratching
If your dog is scratching more than a DJ at a club, it’s time to pay attention. Constant itching, especially around their face, paws, and belly, can be a major red flag. Sure, dogs scratch, but if it seems like it’s turning into a full-time job, allergies might be the culprit.
2. Red, Inflamed Skin or Hot Spots
Take a closer look at your pup’s skin. If you see red patches, rashes, or irritated areas that look inflamed, this could be their body’s reaction to an allergen. Hot spots (those wet, red, sore patches of skin) can also develop from all the scratching, biting, and licking. It’s not just uncomfortable for your dog – it can lead to infections if left unchecked.
3. Recurring Ear Infections
Frequent ear infections are a lesser-known but very common sign of allergies in dogs. If your dog is constantly shaking their head, scratching their ears, or if you notice a bad smell coming from their ears, these could all be signs of an allergy. Allergens can cause inflammation in the ear canal, making it a perfect environment for yeast and bacteria to thrive. Ear infections are painful for your dog and can lead to more serious health issues if not treated properly.

Meet Dipsy, a HDB-approved cutie from @sosdsingapore who has already faced more than his fair share of ups and downs. Despite only being 3 years old, he’s been through the turmoil of moving homes seven times, bouncing between foster care, potential adopters, and the shelter. 🏡
Dipsy’s a shy boy around new people, but his curiosity shines through when approached with kindness and respect. Deep down, Dipsy is a loving pup who craves affection. When it’s time for walks, Dipsy’s excitement knows no bounds! After satisfying his curiosity with a good sniff around, he walks calmly and always checks in with his fosterer and enjoys the treats that follow.
Are you ready to be the family Dipsy has been searching for? Reach out to SOSD for more information!

Dealing with pet allergies, especially environmental ones, can be a challenge, but with the right approach, you can keep your furry friend comfortable.
Whether it’s pollen, dust mites, or mold, the key is to reduce exposure and manage symptoms. Regular cleaning, hypoallergenic products, and frequent baths can make a world of difference.
If your pet shows signs of itching, redness, or discomfort, consult your vet for tailored advice. Your pet deserves a happy, itch-free life, and with a little care, you can help them breathe easy and enjoy their environment to the fullest!

Come visit Singapore’s Newest Pet-friendly Mall with us! Located at Kim Yam Road, @newbahru is a refurbished development that is packed with vibrant local businesses and aims to showcase a different side of our city.
With many food establishments available in the area, we stopped by @artichoke_sg for some wonderfully prepared New School Middle Eastern flavours. We had the Cauliflower Mujadara and Hummus Plate, which absolutely blew our mind. Both dishes were perfectly seasoned, creating a harmonious blend of textures and taste. We would highly recommend you to try this one out for yourself!
We then stopped by @crafune, a homegrown brand of Singapore, aimed to introduce the stress-relieving therapeutic experience of leathercraft to the fast-paced lifestyle. They also offer workshops to craft dog collars for your furkids!
Offering super soft, and beautiful looking sheets that are ethically made and affordably priced? How much better can it get! Well, check out @sojaoshop with your dogs to find out!
And with that, the only and best possible way to have ended this trip to New Bahru, would be some dog-friendly ice cream and treats, from @csfreshsg.
New Bahru is definitely a place that we will be back! Drop by and check it out for yourself.
