This is Momo, with the biggest smile on her face 2 weeks post op! 🤩

Momo was referred for a condition called chylothorax, where lymphatic fluid builds up in the chest cavity, causing breathing difficulties. A thoracic duct ligation and pericardectomy was performed, and Momo is now our second successful chylothorax case in 6 months!

Her breathing has returned to normal, and her owners report she is back to her active and happy self.

We’re so glad to see you’re doing well, Momo! 🥰

Thank you to Dr Kris from for trusting us with Momo!

Super-NOVA 🌟

This little girl came to us after jumping off the sofa and fracturing her right front leg. Radius ulna fractures are one of the most common fracture sites we see in small breed dogs.

Despite her small size, Nova went through surgery like a champ, and we expect her to make a complete recovery in a few weeks!

Not only car 🚗 mechanics look under the carriage, surgeons do too!

This patient was an older and arthritic patient who didn’t like to lie on her side. So to make checking her wound on her belly more comfortable, Dr Landon got down on the floor so she could remain standing and comfortable.

It’s a wonderful ✨DAY!✨

When Day first came in to see Dr Landon, he was dragging both his hind limbs.

A CT scan showed a large amount of extruded disc material causing significant spinal cord compression. In many of these spinal cases, time is of the essence. Dr Landon operated on Day immediately.

After just four days in hospital, Day started to regain his ability to walk again!

Here he is, 6 weeks post-surgery. We are so happy to see him walking around again! Way to go, Day!

Sweet Bella suffered a spontaneous hip dislocation at home while doing zoomies with her other furry sibling. After a detailed consultation with Dr Landon, our surgical specialist, her pawrents decided to proceed with surgery.

An FHO, or femoral head and neck ostectomy, is a surgical procedure aimed to restore pain free mobility by removing the affected femoral head and neck. Post-op rehabilitation, such as hydrotherapy and controlled leash walks, are key to ensuring the development of a strong and flexible false joint.

At 2 weeks post op, Bella’s stitches have been removed, and she is walking nicely on the operated leg.

Bella can now start on her rehabilitation journey, and will soon be running around freely again! 🙌🏽

Pumpkin came back for her post-op check up and staple removal today. We’re happy to see her using her operated leg well!

We are so glad to welcome Dr Chee back to the LVS family. He left LVS as an intern and is returning as a fully fledged Registered Specialist with the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care. Dr Chee will play an integral role in setting up our new Pet A&E as we continue to expand our services.

Dr Chee graduated from the University of Sydney in 2014 and came back to Singapore to work as a GP. He joined LVS for an internship before heading to Murdoch University as an Emergency and Critical speciality trainee and subsequently got accepted into a residency. During his residency, Dr Chee obtained both a clinical and research Masters with publications on the use of canine plasma transfusions. He passed his board examinations in 2022 and works concurrently in Western Australia as a Critical Care Specialist where he manages clinical cases and the training of the next generation of residents.

Dr Chee is excited to be back in Singapore and enjoys all aspects of critical care medicine such as sepsis, mechanical ventilation, and transfusion therapy.

WELCOME BACK, DR CHEE! 🥳

Meet Katsu 🐶, a Shiba Inu who recently went through 2 major surgeries here at LVS.

Katsu was referred to us after being diagnosed with chylothorax, a condition where lymphatic fluid builds up in the chest cavity, causing breathing difficulties.

A CT scan with contrast injected into each metatarsal pad was done to identify the underlying cause.

During the CT scan, a portosystemic shunt was also identified. This is a condition whereby the blood bypasses the liver, affecting its function.

The first surgery was done to repair the shunt, ensuring proper blood flow and liver function.

A second surgery, thoracic duct ligation and pericardectomy, was then scheduled 10 days later. With Dr Landon’s expertise, the thoracic duct, responsible for transporting lymphatic fluid, was successfully ligated. The membrane around the heart (pericardium) was also removed. This was crucial in alleviating the pressure on katsu’s heart and lungs, allowing her to breathe freely again.

Katsu came back for her review recently and has recovered well from both surgeries! She is able to breathe so much better now and her owners note that she is much more active. We continue to wish Katsu a long and healthy life! ✨

Thank you to Katsu’s pawrents for the very adorable picture of her!
