"Thank you, Dr. Nair, and the amazing staff at Oasis Vet for taking in my darling boy during such a critical moment in his life. Dr. Nair took the time to thoroughly explain everything and made sure my boy felt comfortable and well cared for during our visit. I truly appreciate the level of care and attention to detail. I'm so relieved and glad that my boy's condition has stabilized. Thank you so much ❤️."
- Eunice Cheng (Scout's mommy)

Scout came to us late last year as he has Diabetes Mellitus that wasn't well controlled. His blood sugar was often high and unreadable despite being on insulin. His pawrents are super dedicated and together we worked with them to stabilise his condition.

Fast forward a few months now, Scout is doing so much better and Scout's mom has a smile on her face ❤️

Have you seen a dog with 2 different coloured eyes?

This unique trait is caused by a lack of the pigment melanin in all or parts of the eye. This is called and often linked to the Merle coat. While this feature looks unique, there are health problems associated with this mutation sometimes.

Merle dogs should not be mated with another Merle dogs.

“Your wings were ready, but our hearts were not”

Bob’s passing has left all of our hearts broken. We will sorely miss his loud and very distinct meows announcing his arrival to the clinic.

Bob suffered from multiple medical conditions as he got older, but he was always so brave during treatments. Despite us poking and prodding him, he never lost his love for humans. He loved receiving cuddles and enjoys being carried. Steamed fish was one of his favorite foods, and listening to the song sung by one of his favorite human - Auntie Poh Lin.

Bob has taught all of us what resilience and unconditional love is.

Fly free Bob 🌈💫
You will forever be in our hearts.

Thank you to all of Bob’s carers in the Tiong Bahru community; you have shown us what community spirit truly is.

This is George. George absolutely hates going into his pet carrier. So his pawrents have come up with a clever way of bringing him in a pet sling carrier. His pawrents also give him a sedative under the advise of our vets to keep him calm. The carrier comes with a safety hook to secure George’s harness to his bag. Now going outside the house becomes more hassle-free.

While we encourage all pet owners to transport their cats in a hard case carrier, we understand sometimes it can be difficult especially when individuals have had bad experience and struggling to put them in a carrier becomes an extremely stressful event. In these cases, we must stress the importance of pet owners knowing how to keep their cat companion safe eg. Putting on a good, proper cat harness and ensure cat is tethered to the bag at all times.

Sometimes you just need someone to hold your hand or paw, and tell you everything is going to be ok.

At Oasis Vet, it is of utmost importance to us that our patients are kept safe and stress-free as much as possible. Our team is trained to recognize signs of pain, discomfort and anxiety. An aggressive behavior can be caused by fear, pain or stimuli. We then devise a plan to ensure their experience at the clinic is kept as pleasant as possible.

Here at Oasis Vet, your best friend becomes ours too 💕

Our pets, like us, are curious by nature. Unfortunately, this curiosity can get them into trouble sometimes. They can ingest non-edible items like clothing, rocks, rubber, wires etc. These objects can become stuck in the stomach or intestines causing a foreign body obstruction.

An abdominal xray is performed if an obstruction is suspected. In addition, blood tests may also be recommended to access the patient’s health. In the above xray, we can see that there are multiple wire-like structures in the stomach and intestine.

A surgical intervention is generally recommended. Not removing it can result in perforation of the intestine in some cases. Usually a cut is made into the stomach or intestine to retrieve the object. Luckily for this patient, the exact location of the obstructions was located, dislodged and moved towards the end of the large intestine. No further incision was made, reducing recovering time and not needing hospitalisation.

To our delight, the patient managed to pass out the foreign objects (as seen in the last picture) after a few days and is now feeling better! Can you tell what the foreign objects were in this case?
