Second Chance

Second Chance is a social co-op consisting of a one-stop pet shop for dog owners and a pet café. Instead of selling puppies/dogs, this co-op encourages people to adopt dogs. By adopting dogs, the abandoned dogs will then have a second chance to be adopted into a proper loving home, instead of being put to sleep. The one-stop shop sells dog-related products to sustain the business. Members will also benefit as they will receive discounts on the goods and services purchased. T-shirts that helps to promote the social cause will also be sold in the shop to raise awareness on the cause and the co-op. There will also be grooming services and obedience training for dogs available in this co-op that helps the dogs to be better trained. The café will also provide healthier food for both owners and dogs. This will reduce the risk of dogs falling ill and being abandoned and euthanized. 91% of the respondents support the idea of setting up the co-op. This co-op helps to deal with the social problem that the group has raised. Unlike other shelters that organize campaigns to invite people to participate, this co-op allows every member to involve themselves directly in helping this cause, as everyone will be given at least an opportunity to plan and organize such events. While gaining greater exposure and experience, at the same time, they can raise public awareness about this issue. Every person that patronize in the shop helps in the social cause because every product or service that the co-op provides can help in one way or another, to reduce the number of dogs being abandoned and euthanized.
