🗓 This Saturday, 18 May, join us at the nearby Holiday Inn Express and Suites for some grooming tips to you as pawrents! 🐾

Holiday Inn Express (Novena) has opened their doors to furry kids, and has launched a dog friendly staycation package!

Find out more this Saturday, where there will be a pet bazaar, and your Mad Chief Groomer HK will be on-site at 1pm and 4pm, to share the tools and techniques you can provide for your furkids at home! 🐶😻🏠

🚨 Aggressive Furkid Alert! 🚨

For the past 22 years of grooming, pawrents have warned me of their aggressive furkids, or uncooperative furkids as reported by other groomers.

Am I glad to report back that I mostly find it be "False Alert"!

《 Special Aircon Fund (AF) Announcement 》

Dear Friends,

As our lovely summery island gets exposed to the El Nino effects of rising temperature, we will need to ensure our precious air-conditioning unit is working in optimum performance, for our beloved mad chief groomer HK to deliver cute summer clips for our furries.

Hence, we will be imposing a special Aircon Funding (AF) / Aircon Surcharge of $5 per appointment, which will go towards increasing the air-conditioning servicing frequency, as well as to put aside a standby air-con unit and compressor in case of breakdown.

We hope you understand we need to keep our cool, at all times.

Shave your doggo, we do not,

#1. 🐩 Brush your dog’s fur regularly. This eliminates dead hair, prevents matting, and allows for better air circulation in their coat.

#2.🛁 Give your dog regular cool baths to keep them clean and free of pests.

#3. 🐾 Since your dog’s cooling sweat glands are located on their feet, keeping their paws trimmed of excess fur can help the sweat evaporate and cool them off.

#4. 💈Groomers suggest it is also a good idea to keep a dog’s legs and stomach trimmed of very long hair to enhance cooling.

Now yer know, we groomers never agree to shave 'em to the skin,
It ain't good at all, for our doggos.

It often pained us when the furries come to us with overgrown nails...

📓 There are some important reasons to trim your dog's nails, mainly to prevent injury. Following are three potentially painful consequences of not trimming their nails:

1⃣ Torn nails: overgrown nails can catch on to anything from carpet fibers to branches and rocks outside, and are prone to breaking or splitting, especially if the dog has dew-claw, or "thumbs". This can be quite painful, and it is common for these types of injuries to become infected.

2⃣ Joint problem: Dogs use their nails for traction and balance when walking or running. Long nails cause a dog to place their feet differently, with the nails "pushing" the dogs toes up and the "heels" come down to balance, placing strain on the muscles and ligaments in the legs, affecting the alignment of the dog's feet and leg joints, leading to joint pain and even arthritis.

3⃣ Damage to Paw Pads: If the nails, especially the dewclaws, or "thumbs", grows too long, they often curl around on themselves and can grow into the pad. The sharp end of the nail pierces through the pawpads and creates an open, ulcerated wound that is swollen and painful, as well as often infected.

Ouch!! 😢😢😢

It is best to have the furries' nails trimmed at least once a week, or not longer than once a month.

🥰Here's what you need to know about these hormones, including tips for activating the feel-good brain chemistry they provide to improve your mood:

1️⃣ SEROTONIN: Helps balance mood and promote feelings of well-being and reward.
How to Harness it:
* Be kind to others and yourself
* Spending time outdoors
* Exercising
* Eating a well-balanced diet🍴

2️⃣ ENDORPHINS: Your body's natural pain killers, they help you overcome stress and discomfort
How to Harness it:
* Spending time outdoors
* Exercising! (Ever heard of "runners high?")
* Meditating
* Laughing, hahaha! 🤣

3️⃣ DOPAMINE: Also called the "feel good hormone, it plays a role in feeling happiness, pleasure and reward
How to Harness it:
* Being kind to others and yourself
* Getting plenty of sleep
* Exercising
* Listening to music 🎶

4️⃣ OXYTOCIN: Not technically a "happy" hormone, it's role in promoting social interaction may help you feel the positive emotion.
How to Harness it:
* Showing love and affection
* Spending time with friends and loved ones
* Sharing a laugh
* Listening to music 🎶
* By looking at BEAUTIFUL AND WELL-GROOMED animals!

Do you want to know how you can bond with your furry babies this weekend? Brush their coat!

Brushing and combing your doggies and kitties regularly not only keeps the coat looking good, but it helps release dead hair, undercoat, and cuts down on excess shedding. Brushing at home is key for long, silky, and wool coats as it will help to remove any knots before the knots progress into matts. Regular brushing will help to distribute the natural oils from the skin and keep your dog healthy.
