🐾 Meet Panda, our adventurous 6-month-old kitten who recently gave us a little scare! 🐾

Panda was referred to us after experiencing inappetence for 2 days, and with her love for playing with strings and feathers, it was suspected that she might have ingested a foreign body.

Although X-rays didn't show any obvious foreign object, an ultrasound revealed a thickened gut and a suspiciously distended section of her small intestines, raising concerns about a linear foreign body.

After 2 days of close monitoring and daily abdominal scans, we were relieved to find no foreign object. Panda started eating on her own and went home healthy and happy!

This experience reminds us of the importance of being vigilant when cats show symptoms, especially with a history of swallowing foreign objects. Panda was lucky this time, but let’s always keep a close eye on our curious kitties! 🐱❤️

We're thrilled to announce that two of our dedicated vets, Dr Girisha and Dr Sara Bay, have recently completed a short course with the American Association of Feline Practitioners to become certified Cat Friendly Veterinarians. 🎉

This specialized training ensures that our feline friends receive the best possible care in a stress-free and comfortable environment. At our Tanjong Katong clinic, we also provide a cat-friendly environment with a separate cat waiting area and a dedicated cat ward to keep our feline patients calm and happy. We are so proud of our amazing team members for their commitment to enhancing the well-being of our cats! 🐱❤️

🐾 Bon Voyage, Sherlock! 🐾
Sherlock, a young English Sheepdog, has been a regular with Dr. G at Vets for Life Tanjong Katong since he was just a puppy.

Sherlock will soon be leaving Singapore for a new life (and grand adventures) abroad with his family.

To ensure Sherlock is ready for his travels, we administered a rabies vaccine and performed thorough health checks that are required for his relocation.

We wish Sherlock and his family all the best on their exciting journey ahead.
Safe travels, our dear fluffy friend! We will miss you very much!🐶✈️

🐾 Meet Yuna, a brave 1-year-old kitty who had quite the adventure! 🐾

She got stuck behind the fridge at home, resulting in a severe eye injury. Her left eye was partially protruding with significant hemorrhage and swelling. Although we were unsure about the vitality of the eye, given Yuna’s young age, we decided to try saving her eye. After considering enucleation and other treatments, we opted to push the eye back and perform tarsorrhaphy, despite concerns about her regaining eye function.

Yuna stayed with us that night and went home the next day, bright and without any discharge from the eye. Three weeks later, Yuna returned for a review, and we're thrilled to report that her eye is fully functional again! 🌟 What a remarkable recovery for this sweet little feline. She is now back to her playful self, proving just how resilient our furry friends can be. 🐱❤️

Introducing the newest addition to our veterinary team: Dr Vivian Lin!

Dr Vivian graduated with Bachelor of Science degree from National University of Singapore, before pursuing a degree in Doctor in Veterinary Medicine from University of Melbourne, Australia.

Dr Vivian began her career in the industry as a veterinary nurse while pursing DVM, working part-time at various practices in Singapore and Australia, and has since returned to Singapore as a qualified vet.

Dr Vivian has a keen interest in emergency and critical care medicine, soft-tissue surgery, and internal medicine. She strongly believes in fear-free handling and strives to provide the best level of patient care to all her patients

Outside of work, Dr Vivian enjoys catching up with her friends, playing basketball and cuddling her three lazy cats at home.

Meet Murat, the adorable 19-week-old Cocker Spaniel! 🐾 Murat paid us a visit for his puppy wellness check, ensuring he's growing up healthy and strong. From playful tail wags to curious sniffles, Murat stole our hearts with his puppy charm. Meet Floki, the brave kitty who recently underwent an exploratory laparotomy after experiencing concerning symptoms, including vomiting, lethargy, and weight loss. With a history of ingesting foreign objects and recent weight loss, suspicions of intussusception arose.

Following ultrasound confirmation, Floki underwent surgery to address the obstruction. Now on the mend, Floki's case underscores the importance of recognising gastrointestinal issues in your furbabies, as well as prompt veterinary intervention.

Symptoms of intussusception include vomiting, diarrhoea, blood in stools, bloating and abdominal pain. If your beloved furbaby shows any of these symptoms, please do immediately consult a veterinarian.

As for Floki, we're delighted to share that he is gradually putting on weight and is now well on the path to a healthy, happy life. 🐾✨

We are happy to announce that Dr Keshia Beng has joined Vets for Life Animal Clinic.

Dr Keshia graduated from Murdoch University in 2011. She has been in small animal practice since then, spending the last 8 years in a busy animal hospital. She is interested in small animal medicine, diagnostic imaging and emergency medicine, having completed her memberships in small animal medicine with the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in 2017, as well as ultrasonography and neurology courses with CVE University of Sydney, in 2014 and 2018 respectively. She recently completed a course in small animal endoscopy, and continues to enjoy learning the new advances in veterinary medicine.

Dr Keshia believes in evidence based medicine and that compassion and trust are important foundations in veterinary practice. She hopes to offer the best options and care to her clients, and strives to be someone clients can trust to help make the best decisions for their furbabies.

When she is not at work, Dr Keshia is hanging out with her 2 dogs and cat, or getting wet scuba diving or swimming somewhere

We are pleased to welcome Dr Jeenise Ng to Vets for Life Animal Clinic. Dr Jeenise graduated from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, Edinburgh. She returned home after graduation and worked at a busy referral hospital in Singapore for 7 years.

Dr Jeenise has a special interest in oncology and internal medicine, and obtained Membership in Small Animal Medicine by examination with the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in 2021.

Dr Jeenise is committed to building relationships with clients and their pets, and understands the importance in guiding them to make informed decisions for the well-being of their furry companions.

In addition to her professional pursuits, she also enjoys scuba diving and spending quality time with her loved ones, including her cat, Naomi.

Vets for Life Animal Clinc welcomes Dr Serena Shum to join our growing team.

Dr Serena graduated from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in Edinburgh, Scotland with a degree in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery (2021). She also has a bachelor’s degree in Bioveterinary Sciences with the Royal Veterinary College (2017). She started her career as an Avian Veterinary Intern with Jurong Bird Park at the Mandai Wildlife Group. She now joins the VFL team to care for all things furry, scaly and feathered.

Dr Serena's main mission is to work closely together with her clients to care for and improve the wellbeing and health of their pets. She moved back to Singapore with a black cat named Buppy and shortly after, adopted an orange kitty named Squash. She understands how much our animal friends means to us and will strive to ensure your pet family is well taken care of.

Outside of work, she spends time creatively at the pottery studio and as a UI/UX designer.
