These little nasties here are Demodex canis mites and cause demodectic mange 🐛🤢. Horrifyingly, we all have demodex on us all the time 😖.
Most dogs are able to fight off the excessive mites without needing medical intervention. The problem occurs when the dog’s immune system is immature or weak, such as in puppies and senior dogs, where they develop excessive numbers of mites😭. The symptoms can either occur in a localized area such as the muzzle or feet or can be a generalized problem. Manifestation of the disease can include hair loss, pimple like bumps that contains pus, itchy skin, and crusty lesions over the affected area.
Demodectic mange can be easily diagnosed by your vets through skin scraping. Also most cases of demodex can be effectively treated with early diagnosis 😀. So bring down your dogs to our clinic if you notice any of the symptoms stated above! 🤗

This is how a baby tick looks like under the microscope after it had its blood meal. Ticks are visible to the naked eye and appear like tiny spiders with whitish egg-shaped bodies. They are commonly found between the digits of the paw and close to the ears.
Ticks may carry and transmit diseases, like Tick Fever and Lyme Disease, to your pet. Oh and not to mention…… ticks can affect humans too! 😱
Make sure to protect your pets against these parasites by using monthly tick prevention medications, especially if they spend a long time outdoors. 🍃 Speak to your vet about tick prevention options available for your pets.
