This is one exercise of leave. Archie, 4mths old, learns to leave and not take it without permission. This is very important as we do not want Archie to pick up items and also eventually not to chase after birds, cats etc

SINGAPORE: Every few hours while overseas, Mrs Chan would look at her home’s internet surveillance camera to check on her beloved “furkid” Coco Bean - only to find the brown bundle of fur waiting by the main door. It was a hard sight to bear, and she could not stop thinking about her pet t

I have turned comments off for this now as the shocko Jockos have been playing 'fetch their friends' again. 🙄

Electric collars are devices that are used to deliver an electric shock to a dog in response to certain behaviours. They are typically worn around the dog’s neck and can be triggered manually by the owner or by a remote control.

The shock can be set to different powers and can cause long term fallout.

Electric shocks can cause physical discomfort, as well as physiological distress such as fear and anxiety. Over time, this can lead to the development of behavioural issues, such as aggression or fear-based behaviours. In addition, electric collars are aversive to dogs and can lead to the development of avoidance behaviour.

Dogs may become fearful of the collar and the person who is using it, which can lead to the suppression of natural behaviour.

Finally, electric collars can prevent dogs from learning other appropriate behaviours. This can lead to long-term welfare issues, such as an inability to cope with new situations or environments.

Cute peanut is terrorising his family with his sudden playbiting behaviour and also started to growl and tried to bite family member when they reached out to take stuffs near him. He even reacts to have his leash on and “sensitive to touch” on his body.

So today I went down for a session of training with Peanut. Everything that Peanut is doing is actually very common puppy behaviour as he’s slowly learning about the human world. Peanut has been misunderstood.

With explanation on why he’s behaving in this manner and how to train him positively to change the current behaviours, the family has a better understanding of the why and how.

Training doesn’t need the family to show the trainer just how aggressive he is in order to “correct” him in front of the family.

At the end of the training, we can even put the leash on him, touch him all over and of course, take this happy smiling puppy photo.

Training needs not be harsh. Hanging a dog in the name of training is cruelty. There’s kinder alternative ways of trainings. Thanks to the family and the trainers ( Angie and Alan ) who have made a positive change to this poodle.
