#humanimalfizioadvice - 🌊 SWIMMING🌊
☀️🌡️ ꜱᴜᴍᴍᴇʀ and ʜɪɢʜ ᴛᴇᴍᴘᴇʀᴀᴛᴜʀᴇꜱ are here and ꜱᴡɪᴍᴍɪɴɢ is an excellent exercise for dogs as many of them naturally enjoy being in the water . 🦈
💦 Here are some 𝕚𝕞𝕡𝕠𝕣𝕥𝕒𝕟𝕥 𝕡𝕠𝕚𝕟𝕥𝕤 𝕥𝕠 𝕔𝕠𝕟𝕤𝕚𝕕𝕖𝕣 when introducing your dog to swimming: 💦
📍 ᴄʜᴏᴏꜱᴇ ᴛʜᴇ ʀɪɢʜᴛ ʟᴏᴄᴀᴛɪᴏɴ: Find a safe and suitable location for swimming. Make sure the water is clean and free from hazards like strong currents, sharp objects, or toxic algae.
💧ɪɴᴛʀᴏᴅᴜᴄᴇ ɢʀᴀᴅᴜᴀʟʟʏ: Not all dogs are immediately comfortable with swimming. Introduce your dog to the water gradually, allowing them to get accustomed to the sensation and build confidence at their own pace. Start with shallow water and gradually move into deeper areas.
🦺 ᴜꜱᴇ ᴀ ʟɪꜰᴇ ᴊᴀᴄᴋᴇᴛ: For dogs who are new to swimming or those who may struggle in the water, consider using a canine life jacket. It provides buoyancy and ensures your dog's safety. Even confident swimmers can benefit from wearing a life jacket, especially in open water or unfamiliar environments.
👐 ᴘʀᴏᴠɪᴅᴇ ɢᴜɪᴅᴀɴᴄᴇ ᴀɴᴅ ꜱᴜᴘᴘᴏʀᴛ: Stay close to your dog while they are swimming, especially during the initial stages. Offer encouragement, call them to you, and guide them if needed. Your presence and reassurance can help build their confidence and make the experience positive.
‼️⌚ ᴍᴏɴɪᴛᴏʀ ꜱᴡɪᴍᴍɪɴɢ ᴛɪᴍᴇ: Dogs can easily overexert themselves while swimming, especially if they are new to it or if the water is cold. Be mindful of their energy levels and watch for signs of fatigue, such as excessive panting or difficulty staying afloat. Take breaks as needed and provide fresh water for hydration.

Do you remember ᴅɪᴇɢᴏ ᴛʜᴇ ᴅᴀᴄʜꜱʜᴜɴᴅ who suffered a 𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 after jumping off the bed and was 𝘂𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝗴𝘀? 😓🤔
Well, just look at him now, 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝘄𝗻 and even on a soft and unstable surface! 🤩🥳
Isn't this amazing?! It's the result of hard work and not giving up! 🤩🤞
Diego sure is a true little warrior! 💪
🔙 Check my post from the 5th of december 2022 if you want to know more about his story!
ɪɴꜱᴛʀᴜᴍᴇɴᴛ ᴀꜱꜱɪꜱᴛᴇᴅ ꜱᴏꜰᴛ ᴛɪꜱꜱᴜᴇ ᴍᴏʙɪʟɪᴢᴀᴛɪᴏɴ (ɪᴀꜱᴛᴍ) is a manual technique that uses specialized instruments which allow a more direct treatment of the soft tissues involved with movement - muscles, fascia (a connective tissue found around and in-between the muscles), ligaments (tissues that connect bones to other bones) and tendons (tissues that connect muscles to bones).
So, we use the IASTM technique to treat different musculoskeletal pathologies and injuries. You can see on the video, how well we can mobilise the scapula! 😉
(you can find more videos in the comments)
It can serve as the primary treatment option for all soft tissue and fascia dysfunctions or secondary for nerve injuries and dysfunctions caused by incorrect body mechanics.
It can also help with postural correction, scar tissue, muscle spasms, myo-peritoneal pain syndromes, trigger points, fibromyalgia,...

Diego is an 8-year-old Dachshund that suffered a massive disc herniation after jumping off the bed. 🤕 He was immediately operated and was brought to me about 3 weeks after the surgery. Diego wasn't able to move his hind legs, actually he didn't feel anything from the second 1/2 of his back all the way to the tail - he was paralysed. 😔 Despite the paralysis, Diego was full of energy and extremely motivated - a true little warrior. 🔥 After a couple of weeks of intensive therapies with me and regular work with his owners at home, Diego finally started to move his tail and hind legs! After another week or two, he was able to stand on his hind legs for a few seconds without support! 🤩💪
I believe that Diego's will and motivation, along with very specific and well-planned therapies and exercises I showed the owners to do at home, brought amazing results even if at the beggining the prognosis wasn't very optimistic.
So, moral of the story - never give up! 💪❤️
