Who is helping the animals endangered by the Los Angeles Fires?

One of our most trusted donors has recently shared with us some rescue stories about Pasadena Humane, in LA, that are so moving we felt obliged to support them today 💜

We want to shine a spotlight on a great charity called Pasadena Humane. They are one of the lead groups on the ground helping animals affected by the fires, including animals that have been injured or trapped, and pets that are lost, providing emergency boarding until owners are able to return and reclaim their furry family members 🐕🐈

Check out these snaps from our 'pup cups' treat this week! 💜

We love mucky pups when it's noses in cups and cream around the mouths! Plus, it's a nice way for our doggies to get a bit of extra bonding time with our team 🐾

Dogs can have whipped cream but remember it's high in sugar so keep this for a special occasion and if you're unsure, talk to your vet about a healthy diet and treats for your pup 🐕

Ping Ping will swap toys for cuddles!

Little Ping Ping has been with us for over 2 years now but she still has this quirky habit! Ping Ping always grabs a toy, like a little gift, as soon as she sees people approaching 🎁

She's swapping the toy for attention, but she's so darn cute we let her keep the toy as well 🐕

Happy birthday Denise! 🎉

Today is a wonderful day of celebrations as our founder and director Denise has a milestone birthday! Also featuring a beautiful cake out team made featuring special Uno who was our first rescue in this sanctuary and our first adoption too! He now lives happily in Canada! 🎂🎈🎁

All our Thai staff, volunteers, and some friends are here today to enjoy plenty of food and some merriment! 🥳

Our pups are such good listeners..!

They heard us talking about England having snow this week, and how our Thai staff have never seen snow before ☃️

Well, good boy Pet and good girl Stanze waited until everyone was out on the morning walk, and made the team a lovely, snowy, surprise! 🐕🐕

Come and explore the Thai jungle!

We were so lucky to have had great volunteers who tirelessly carved out a special path through the jungle for us to walk our doggies 🐾

The path offers lots of fun sniffs for our pups, and finishes right at the edge of a lake, where some of our wuffs like to enjoy a refreshing swim to cool off on a hot day 💦

RIP Fred

Hi everyone, we're so sad to tell you all that Fred has just passed away. Fred was very old, and had lived a good, free life with people watching over him. He lost his sight a short time ago, and we imagine life got a lot tougher for him after that 🐾

Although we're devastated to lose him so soon, we can be proud that we gave Fred warm food and likely the most comfortable sleep he's ever had. We want to thank all who donated: you made Fred's last few days the safest and sweetest they could have been, thank you 💜

We'll put leftover funds in a safe place for the future. You never know when the next emergency will call 🐶🐱

Have you ever dreamed of helping animals? Do you love adventure and travel?! Consider volunteering abroad! 💜

Our volunteer program is FREE and we have rooms on-site for a cheap price to cover electric and water. Your daily duties will include walking, feeding, and a little bit of poop-scooping. After that, every day is different! Sometimes we get to take the dogs swimming in the lake, other days the clinic is hectic. Some afternoons are made for cuddling our dogs, other days we go out into the town for outreach or education 🐶

Sangkhlaburi is a lovely traditional village with lots of nature and a slow pace of life. We have a small team of dedicated Thai staff that are happy to show you around and introduce you to the culture, food, and language for a truly memorable experience. It's a little far from Bangkok airport but it's well worth the journey 🇹🇭

This week we were called over the river to the Mon Side of town. This old doggy has lost his vision and sadly fell into a drain. Locals spotted him, unable to climb back out of the water and called us for help 🐾

Faith and Pe**ee checked the dog for injuries, showered him, and cleaned his wounds. When we first arrived, his temperature was too low and he was unable to eat, but with some love and care he warmed up and eventually ate some food 💜

Look how well our Charlie has recovered!

Charlie was in a terrible condition when a friend of the sanctuary alerted us. He had awful mange, with his crusty skin cracking and bleeding, and his pitiful look led to him being shunned and shooed. Charlie actually lived near a riverside restaurant, but he was so skinny when we brought him in for treatment 🐾

But all of that is behind him now! Charlie is back to full health and he's such a sweet and grateful dog. He's best friends with Brighton, who was rescued around the same time, and all of this happiness comes from donors like you! Thank you! 💜

Holy moly pyometra!

Pyometra is an infected uterus and they can go undetected when owners just see their pets getting 'fat' or assuming they're pregnant. The infection will continue to swell until it bursts, which is fatal 🐾

This lucky pup got to us just in time but even we were shocked by the size of this one! We can't imagine how squashed this girly's organs were and we know she must be so relieved now! 🐶

As a supporter of the extraordinary Sangkhlaburi Animal Sanctuary (SAS) in remote western Thailand please take just a minute to read the following few short paragraphs.
As you know SAS is different, and so does Mary Christmas… and ALL of the SAS rescues.
Found last year in a busy market just days before Christmas (hence her name!), Mary was close to being trampled by the bustling customers who cared more for cheap souvenirs than her little life. Her skin was crusty and inflamed. She was treated for fleas and worms and vaccinated. A wonderfully cheerful dog, as now she awaits a forever home Mary melts hearts by selecting a gift of a beautiful stone or twig to present every time she sees someone approaching her pen!
Like you, the caring volunteer staff and veterinarians at SAS rescue dogs like Mary and cats from the streets, monasteries or the edge of the jungle. Their on-site volunteer vets (the closest vet is an arduous 4-hour drive) treat wounds, vaccinate and conduct spay-neuter clinics in the community.
On its small budget SAS cares for rescued dogs and cats 24 hours a day and provides them all with a home for life if forever homes can't be found. They play every day, go for long walks and enjoy swimming in a nearby lake.
The rescued animals at SAS are FAMILY.
Right now, SAS is hoping that some of its best friends, like you, will find it in your heart this holiday season to help provide its residents (all outside its small budget) - a special meal and treats or maybe even a new toy to snuggle with.

It's starting to feel a lot like Christmas! 🎅🎄

Even in our rural Thai village of Sangkhlaburi, some local Thai people enjoy the Christmas season and these little cuties are donning the perfect outfits! 🐾🎅

These Sweet babies came for a check up because they were feeling a little off and not behaving normally. It's always good to get a vets opinion if your fur-baby is acting off; if they're not eating, drinking, or going to the toilet as normal, it's good to be aware and check for any symptoms! 👀🎁

Perhaps you wondered why, like so many other organizations, SAS didn't solicit you on Giving Tuesday...

Perhaps you wondered why SAS didn't send you some sort of "urgent" year-end solicitation to "solve" some immediate “emergency.” You know, something like: "Those who abuse animals don’t take the holidays off! Please be generous now!"

Or perhaps you didn't wonder… after all, you know SAS is different ✨

Look at little Pet dipping his paws for the first time! Our brave boy took on the mighty lake by paddling, digging, and a few chomps of the water just for good measure! After a phone call alerting us to this poor dog's scary situation, we've spent two days trying to find and catch her. 🐾 Today we were successful! 💜 The impact on animals is real, please dispose of garbage responsibly, especially if animals or sea life could get trapped by it 🐶

❗New Rescue❗ Look at this poor baby, who we estimate we only be 8 weeks old. Found near a highway between local villages this sweet soul has endured so much pain already 💜 Of course we've scooped him up and he's safe with us now. This small angel has a few health problems including mange and parasites, but hopefully we can fix him up. Unfortunately, since his rescue, this little man has just been sleeping and that's concerning but we will keep you all posted. 🐾 PLEASE DONATE AND SHARE - we need you more than ever!
