We would like to offer our support to Kindred Spirit Elephant Sanctuary - Thailand . They have recently been hit by flooding. Luckily the elephants are safe and well, but the foundation and community has sustained damage and they lost a lot. We wish you all the power to grow back stronger.

Khun has been with us since the 23rd of January 2025.

She was rescued from a trekking camp in Pattaya.

During her beginning days, she was very unpredictable. She would run all of the sudden and even chased one of our mahouts.
Nowadays, Khun is much calmer and everyone is more comfortable around her. She gets along with Kham Phaeng well, but Khun has a dominant personality. This means she wants to dominate Kammoon, who has always been the most dominant of our elephants. She spends a lot of time in Kammoon's area, just letting her know she is present. We hope one day they can accept each other and come to an agreement, and Khun can go back to just being Kham Phaeng's friend.

Health wise Khun is doing very well. We have had a vet here to check our elephants eyes and they have informed us that Khun can not see in the dark.

As you can see in this photo, Khun adores mud baths and has her favourite tree to lean on.

SOMBOON LEGACY

Sawasdee kha 🙏 and welcome to SOMBOON LEGACY FOUNDATION! We are a newly opened completely HANDS-OFF non-profit elephant sanctuary that is located 30 minutes outside of Kanchanaburi and approximately 3 hours from Bangkok. We take care of old, ill, handicapped and rescued elephants. Together with the Legacy River Kwai Resort, we create a space where our elephants can walk freely in nature and aren’t forced to participate in any activities that cause stress or harm to them.

Elephants are wild animals and not for our entertainment. Here at SOMBOON LEGACY FOUNDATION, we strongly believe in observing them in their natural habitat and respecting their personal space by not engaging in any physical contact. The well-being of our elephants Malee and Kammoon is our top priority. The sensitive old ladies are over 60 years old and have been a team for over 20 years, gently looking after each other. Somboon was the third of the “Three Musketeers” who passed away a few years back. In honour of her beautiful spirit, we dedicate this organization to her. It’s time to make a real change, we are going to make a difference! Visit our website for more information: www.somboonlegacy.org
