Here is a little poem about our sanctuary written by one of our volunteers:

In a quiet valley, where rivers flow,
Lies a place where gentle giants roam slow.
Somboon Legacy, a sanctuary so rare,
Where elephants live with kindness and care.

No hands to touch, no burdens to bear,
No rides, no crowds—just fresh, open air.
Here the mahouts, with trust and grace,
Are the only ones who share their space.

Malee walks softly, her spirit set free,
No chains or toil, just the shade of a tree.
Kham Phaeng, once weary, now rests in the sun,
Her long days of labor are finally done.

Kammoon, with calm, in the river will play,
Splashing in peace at the close of the day.
No harm, no stress, no begging for bread,
Only freedom and peace where the old paths led.

Tourists come not to touch, not to ride,
But to learn, to observe, and to stand aside.
Yet here, at last, their suffering ends,
In Somboon’s refuge, where nature mends.

A legacy built on respect and love,
A sanctuary watched from the skies above.
For Malee, Kham Phaeng, and Kammoon to rest—
At Somboon Legacy, they’ve found life’s best.
