Grandma Sangdao Enjoys a Relaxing Session in the Therapy Pool 💦

Today, Grandma Sangdao had a wonderful time bathing in the therapy pool, as her devoted caretaker gently scrubbed her back until she was clean and invigorated. For elderly elephants, soaking in water is not just a way to cool off—it also offers numerous health benefits.

The therapy pool is specially designed to support the weight of senior elephants. When they immerse themselves in the water, the buoyancy helps relieve pressure on their joints and muscles, allowing for smoother movement, relieving fatigue, and easing joint pain—common issues among ageing elephants. The action of scrubbing their skin also stimulates blood circulation and promotes healthy skin.

Caring for elderly elephants like Grandma Sangdao requires close attention to their nutritional needs, a relaxing living environment, and activities that encourage natural behaviors such as bathing, mud play, and regular daily exercise. These elements ensure that they are able to live a comfortable, healthy, and happy life at their sanctuary home.

วันนี้คุณยายแสงดาวเพลิดเพลินกับการลงอาบน้ำในบ่อบำบัด พร้อมกับผู้ดูแลที่ช่วยขัดหลังให้จนสะอาดสดชื่น สำหรับช้างในวัยชรา การได้แช่น้ำไม่เพียงแต่ช่วยคลายร้อน แต่ยังมีประโยชน์ต่อสุขภาพอีกมากมาย

บ่อบำบัดถูกออกแบบมาเพื่อรองรับน้ำหนักของช้างสูงวัยโดยเฉพาะ เมื่อช้างลงแช่ในน้ำ แรงลอยตัวจะช่วยลดแรงกดที่ข้อต่อและกล้ามเนื้อ ทำให้การเคลื่อนไหวเป็นไปอย่างนุ่มนวล ลดความเมื่อยล้า และช่วยบรรเทาอาการปวดข้อที่มักเกิดขึ้นในช้างอายุมาก นอกจากนี้ การขัดตัวในน้ำยังช่วยกระตุ้นการไหลเวียนโลหิตและส่งเสริมสุขภาพผิวของช้างอีกด้วย

This is our latest dog rescue mission by Save Elephant Foundation in collaboration with Watchdog Thailand. Just look at their reactions—you can see the pure joy of finally being rescued and taken away from that place.

This is just one house where we were able to save these dogs, but how many more are out there, still unseen? How many hundreds or even thousands of dogs continue to suffer in the cruel breeding industry?

Let’s work together to end illegal puppy and kitten mills by refusing to support them. Adopt, don’t shop!

After receiving treatment from the veterinary team, Grandma Mai Thai is starting to feel better today. She spent almost two hours swimming in the hydrotherapy pool, which helped relieve her pain and improve her mobility. However, the veterinary team has not yet allowed her to take long walks, as she still requires rest and continuous medication.

For now, Mai Thai remains in the shelter, under 24-hour care and monitoring by a dedicated team of Elephant doctors and mahouts.

This is her second night of restful sleep, and last night, she managed to sleep for several hours before getting up on her own. Each time she rests, she looks stronger, more cheerful, and full of energy—a promising sign of her recovery.

We hope for Mai Thai’s full recovery soon, as NamThip and the rest of her family are eagerly waiting for her to return to the herd. They miss her presence, and we all look forward to the day she can rejoin them, healthy and happy once again.

Vana and Daothong – True Friends Who Complete Each Other💕🐘

Though both have physical challenges, their hearts shine just as brightly as any other. With nearly twenty years between them, Vana remains the younger companion who always looks after and cares for Daothong. Their deep connection is present with every step they take—if Daothong falls behind, Vana will stop, wait, and gently call out to her.

The love and friendship between elephants is always beautiful to witness.

It seems like our mission to rescue animals never ends. After the recent flooding crisis, our foundation had to temporarily stop taking in dogs and cats due to the severe damage to our shelters, which are still undergoing repairs and restoration.

Today we received an urgent request from the Watchdog Foundation to help rescue 60 dogs from a house where they were found in critical condition.

This house was packed with small-breed dogs, likely bred for sale, living in filthy, overcrowded conditions. Most of them were in extremely poor health—many were pregnant, disabled, blind, suffering from skin diseases, and had severely matted fur. The smell and appalling state of their environment was overwhelming.

Among the 60 dogs, 48 were small breeds like Chihuahuas and Pomeranians, while 12 were Siberian Huskies. This number does not include over 10 additional pregnant dogs, yet to give birth.

Local volunteers reported that neighbors heard desperate howls and went to check on the house, only to discover that no one was home. Tragically, they found dead dogs on the floor and others resorting to cannibalism out of starvation.

The volunteers contacted local officials, who traced the owner and learned that they had been hospitalized for several days. Meanwhile, the dogs were left without food or water, leading to devastating losses.

Inside the house, they found 16 deceased dogs, including a mother who had given birth in a cage, but perished along with her puppies due to neglect.

A veterinary team examined the surviving dogs and confirmed that many were suffering from highly contagious diseases such as distemper. These infected dogs have been quarantined separately, while those that tested negative will undergo further health screenings before starting their recovery process.

Tragic situations like this will continue unless authorities take serious action against illegal breeding operations. We can help stop this cycle of cruelty by refusing to buy puppies from unethical breeders. Please choose adoption and be a voice for those who cannot speak for themselves.

Srinuan’s eye surgery has been successfully completed! We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the entire veterinary team for their dedication and teamwork in making this operation a success.

Srinuan is an elephant under the care of Save Elephant Foundation. Years ago, a kind-hearted donor from the UK, Tina, encountered her at an elephant camp in Phuket. At that time, Srinuan’s health was in a concerning state, prompting Tina to reach out to SEF, determined to help retire her from working in the tourist industry.

Due to the risks involved in relocating Srinuan on the long journey from Phuket to Chiang Mai, Tina agreed to have her cared for at Phuket Elephant Sanctuary, the best elephant care facility in Phuket. This sanctuary, founded by Mr. Montri Todtane is the first true elephant rescue project in Southern Thailand, where elephants can live freely and with dignity. It offers top-tier facilities, including high-standard elephant night shelters, a hydrotherapy pool, and an elephant hospital, where Dr. Bow now serves as the resident veterinarian.

At Phuket Elephant Sanctuary, every elephant is treated like family and receives the best possible care. For this eye surgery, Save Elephant Foundation invited Associate Professor Dr. Areeyah Laikul, a large animal and wildlife veterinary specialist from Kasetsart University, to join the surgical team. The operation was led by Dr. Bow, along with veterinarians from the Zoological Park Organization. Additionally, Dr. Adul Saengthong and Dr. Nidanis Hayee-Waming from the foundation’s veterinary team participated as observers.

Srinuan is recovering well from her surgery. We will provide updates on her treatment and diagnosis once we receive further details from the veterinary team. Stay tuned!

From Africa to Asia: A Journey of Conservation and Creativity 🐘✨

These elephant figurines come all the way from Kenya, crafted from discarded flip-flops collected from beaches across different regions. They are the work of Ocean Sole , a nonprofit organization in Africa dedicated to protecting marine environments and safeguarding whales. Their mission began with a simple yet powerful idea—cleaning up every piece of trash left behind by tourists on the shores and transforming it into recycled products. The proceeds from these creations support internationally recognized projects that help animals and the environment.

Ocean Sole reached out to Save Elephant Foundation to collaborate in this shared mission. While our foundation works to protect the world’s largest land mammals—elephants—Ocean Sole is dedicated to preserving the vast oceans and marine life. Together, we are uniting our efforts for the well-being of both land and sea.

This particular elephant is named Rainbow Jokia, inspired by our beloved elephant Jokia, whose rescue story has touched hearts worldwide. The largest elephant figurine in this collection was made from an incredible 1,100 pairs of recycled flip-flops, carefully assembled to bring it to life.

By creating these vibrant elephants from waste collected on beaches, we are not only preventing pollution from harming marine life but also supporting local artisans in Kenya by providing sustainable jobs. This project is expanding to other countries, employing skilled hands from local communities, and making a meaningful impact on both people and wildlife.

These handcrafted elephants are more than just art—they represent kindness, environmental awareness, and a commitment to protecting both our oceans and the magnificent elephants of the land.

We are honored to be part of this incredible collaboration.

Malai Thong has always been a gentle and shy elephant, preferring to keep to herself rather than socialize with others. Her injured feet, damaged by landmines, made her cautious, and she hesitated to move around too much, always careful with every step.

But everything changed when she met NamThip.

Since staying with her, Malai Thong has begun to open up. She now plays with NamThip, something she had never done before. Even more incredibly, she has started climbing to high places, following NamThip’s lead—a bold step for an elephant once hesitant to move.

This transformation is a beautiful reminder that love and companionship have the power to create positive change. Malai Thong’s heart is healing, proving that with the right support, even the most hesitant souls can find joy again

ปกติแม่มาลัยทองจะเป็นช้างเรียบร้อย ชอบเก็บตัว ไม่ค่อยสุงสิงกับใคร เนื่องจากเท้าที่พิการจากการเหยียบกับระเบิด ทำให้เธอกังวลกับการใช้ขาที่บาดเจ็บเดินไปตามที่ต่างๆ เธอระมัดระวังในการเคลื่อนไหว แต่พอเธอมาอยู่กับน้ำทิพ พฤติกรรมของมาลัยทองเปลี่ยนไป เธอเริ่มสนุกสนานกับการเล่นกับน้ำทิพย์ เธอเริ่มปีนป่ายขึ้นที่สูงตามหลังน้ำทิพย์ทั้งที่เธอไม่เคยทำมาก่อน ความรักสามารถสร้างความเปลี่ยนแปลงในทางที่ดีเสมอ (โปรดสังเกตน้ำทิพย์เริ่มยืนกำกับแม่รับของเธอแล้ว)

Young Wild Elephant Seeks Help from Forest Rangers in West Bengal

A young, wild female elephant, about five years old, was found alone, weak, and severely malnourished. She wandered into a protected area in West Bengal, desperately seeking help from forest rangers. Upon arrival, she collapsed from exhaustion, dehydration, and hunger.

Not far from where she was found, rangers also spotted two other elephants in similarly distressed conditions—injured and wandering near the protected zone.

In response, the Indian government sought assistance from conservation and environmental foundations, requesting a veterinary team to provide urgent care. Our team assessed the young elephant and found injuries to both her front and hind legs. Blood tests confirmed a bloodstream infection.

Led by Dr. Adul Saengtong, alongside Dr. Warittha Numdee, veterinary assistant Pattana Tantakaew, and our dedicated team in India, we are doing everything possible to help her recover.

She is now showing signs of improvement and has managed to stand, though she still relies on three legs, as she cannot fully bear weight on the injured one. We are sending her all our strength and hope for a full recovery.

A huge thank you to our veterinary team for their dedication and tireless efforts to save her life.

ลูกช้างป่าเพศเมียอายุประมาณห้าขวบตัวนี้หลงฝูงตัวนี้อยู่ในสภาพบาดเจ็บ ผอมโซ อิดโรย เดินมาขอความช่วยเหลือจากเจ้าหน้าที่พิทักษ์ป่าที่เขตเบงกอลตะวันตก เธอมาถึงในสภาพหิวโหยร่างกายขาดน้ำอย่างหนัก เมือมาถึงได้ไม่นานเธอก็ล้มลง

และนอกจากนี้ทางทีมเจ้าหน้าที่พิทักษ์ยังพบว่ามีช้างในสภาพเหมือนกันคือบาดเจ็บและอิดโรยอีกประมาณสองตัวเดินวนเวียนอยู่ใกล้ๆเขตพิทักษ์ป่า

ทางรัฐบาลอินเดียได้ทำหนังสือมาขอความช่วยเหลือจากทางมูลนิธิอนุรักษ์และสิ่งแวดล้อมให้ส่งทีมสัตวแพทย์ไปช่วยในพื้นที่ ตอนนี้ทางทีมสัตว์แพทย์ของเราพบว่าช้างได้รับบาดเจ็บขาหน้าและขาหลังบาดเจ็บ
จากการตรวจเลือดพบการติดเชื้อในกระแสเลือด

จากการรักษาข่าวการของทีมสัตวแพทย์ของเราที่นำโดย น.สพ. อดุลย์ แสงทอง พร้อมด้วย สพ.ญ.วริษฐา นุ่มดี ผช.สัตวแพทย์พัฒนา ตันตาแก้ว และเจ้าหน้าที่ของมูลนิธิฯประจำประเทศอินเดียที่พยายามกันอย่างเต็มที่เพื่อช่วยเหลือน้องช้าง
ตอนนี้น้องช้างเริ่มมีพลังมาบ้างและลุกขึ้นมายืนได้แล้ว แต่น้องยังคงยืนสามขาและขาที่บาดเจ็บยังลงน้ำหนักไม่ได้เต็มที่พวกเราอยู่ทางนี้ส่งพลังส่งใจไปให้น้องช้างแข็งแรงและให้หายโดยไว และขอบคุณทีมสัตว์แพทย์ที่ช่วยรักษา พยายามกันอย่างเต็มที่เพื่อรักษาชีวิตน้องไว้ค่ะ

ในโอกาสสำคัญนี้ เราขอเชิดชู เล็ก แสงเดือน ชัยเลิศ-Saengduean Chailert ประธานมูลนิธิอนุรักษ์ช้างและสิ่งแวดล้อม และผู้ก่อตั้ง Elephant Nature Park

กว่า 30 ปีที่ ผู้หญิงตัวเล็ก ๆ คนนี้ทุ่มเททั้งกายและใจต่อสู้เพื่อสิทธิและเสรีภาพของสัตว์ เธอเป็นกระบอกเสียงแทนสัตว์ที่ไร้เสียง ต่อต้านการทารุณกรรม ส่งเสริมการอนุรักษ์สัตว์ป่าและสิ่งแวดล้อม ผลงานของเธอได้รับการยกย่องในระดับนานาชาติ และยังมีสัตว์ที่ได้รับการช่วยเหลืออยู่ในการดูแลของเธอกว่า 5,000 ชีวิต

Her work has been recognized worldwide, and today, she continues to care for and safeguard over 5,000 animals.

Beyond her conservation efforts, Lek is a resilient leader. No matter the challenges she faces, she stands firm, guiding her team and organization with unwavering determination.

Today, we extend our deepest gratitude and admiration to Lek - a true inspiration and a shining example of a strong, compassionate woman dedicated to making the world a better place for all living beings.

A large amount of mud and sand came in with the flood at the end of last year, but 80% of it has been now cleared. Some has been left in piles for the little ones to climb and play on.

Every day, the baby elephants use this area for climbing, descending, and practicing their skills on uneven terrain. Watching them play with such joy makes all the hard work worth it!

ดินโคลนเป็นจำนวนมากที่เข้ามากับน้ำท่วมในปลายปี ตอนนี้ขนออกไปได้แล้วเกือบแปดสิบเปอร์เซ็นต์ จะมีบางส่วนเอากองไว้ให้เด็กๆได้ปีนเล่น
ทุกๆวันลูกช้างจะใช้พื้นที่นี้เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของการปีนป่ายวิ่งเล่นและฝึกฝนในการไต่ขึ้นเขา ดูพวกเขาเล่นอย่างสนุกสนานแล้วทำให้เราหายเหนื่อย
