Teak double gates form the entrance to the driveway leading to the main house. There is a ceramic covered terrace extending three meters from the front of the house. Carved teak doors form the main entrance to the house, opening on to a ceramic tiled floor hall area. A door on the right leads to a western style kitchen with fitted cupboards and necessary appliances. To the left of the hall, down 2 steps, is a bright drawing room, with ceramic floors and opening terrace doors front and rear offering unspoilt views of the garden. To the right is the dining area, from which carved teak doors lead to a large double guest bedroom / study with teak parquet flooring and an ensuite bathroom with American standard fittings. To the rear of the hall an ornate carved teak staircase leads to a landing from which a door leads to the morning room / library, with polished teak floor, teak paneled walls, and traditional gabled rattan ceiling. Doors lead off one side to a ceramic tiled balcony with built in balustrade and seats, enjoying magnificent uninterrupted views over the garden to the King's teak forest and the DoiSuthep mountain. From the landing stairs lead to a spacious light hallway lined with teak paneling and with polished teak floors. Carved teak doors lead to the master bedroom. The bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with American standard fittings, ceramic tiles throughout and an abundance of natural light. The bedroom has many fitted teak storage drawers and cupboards, polished teak floors and full length opening doors providing access to a private teak floored covered balcony running the full length and width of the room. Across the hall from the master bedroom, carved teak doors lead to a further light and airy double bedroom with ensuite bathroom, polished teak floor, and views over mixed forest. The house has central air-conditioning throughout, with discreetly hidden outlets and complete insect screens that enable the main glass windows and doors to open while keeping insects out. The house enjoys an upscale and desirable location 15 minutes from the city centre, near the University of Chiang Mai with its extensive teak plantation and gardens, in an area favoured by VIPs and embassy staff. The view from the house is over the King of Thailand's teak forests toward the mountain of DoiSuthep to the north and west. Chiang Mai is an excellent communications centre with a railway to Bangkok, direct flights to KL Malaysia, Singapore, Laos, Vietnam, China and Burma, daily flights to all parts of Thailand and hourly flights to Bangkok. While Chiang Mai itself is an ancient walled city with tree lined streets and over one thousand temples, outside of the city there are modern department stores and international supermarkets e.g. Auchan, Carrefour and Tesco / Lotus. By the banks of the river there are magnificent fresh produce and flower markets held daily. There are numerous championship 18-hole golf courses, country clubs with swimming pools and sporting facilities and riding stables. Due to being 1000 meters above sea level the temperature does not exceed 25 degrees for the winter months; Chiang Mai is north of the equator. As well as the state and private universities there is a medical school and many international schools offering American, Australian and English curriculum. There are several private hospitals offering treatment, the equal to any found in Europe or America.
