🐱 August the 8th is 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝘾𝙖𝙩 𝘿𝙖𝙮🐈 and it’s not hard to see why our little feline friends hold such a special place in our affections. Today is a day to unite cat lovers across the globe and celebrate cats!

This year we celebrated by building an outdoor catio to give more freedom and happiness for our 11 rescued kitty cats. ✨️

Show your appreciation to the cat in your life and buy that extra pack of cat food to donate to your local rescue centre, or better still.... adopt a cat! 😻 We have 6 lovely, furry cats that need a loving home! You can see some of them featured in the photos below.

A big THANK YOU to Knight and Matthew from Stamps Hostel for visiting our shelter recently. They enjoyed their tour, and spending time with our awesome dogs. 🐕✨️

Their visit was to prepare for their upcoming regular trips to LCA, which they’ll be offering to their guests as a fun activity and a scenic drive out of the city. Our dogs will benefit too, so it's a win-win!

Knight will be back this weekend with his first group of volunteer guests! We can't wait! There'll be lots of tail wagging going on. 🐕❤️🐶

🏥 MAMA needs a helping hand.
This week, our old, blind 'Mama' had surgery to remove a tumor on her leg to send for a biopsy. During the procedure, our vet also did some much-needed dental work, including scaling and removing 10 teeth. She's now recovering well.

We're waiting on the biopsy results. Her total bill is 8,950 Baht. If anyone can help cover this expense, we would be very grateful. Any donation, big or small, makes a difference. Thank you for your support. 🙏

TUI has been healing over the past week after his surgery to remove multiple tumor masses all over his body. He had a follow-up vet check this week. His surgical wounds look ok. Tui has been a naughty boy though, ripping off his bandages, even with a giant cone on his head! He managed to pull out some stitches too, so the vet had to put put staples in to make the wounds close. No matter how cool & colourful the bandages look, he hates them!

We'd like to say a very big THANK YOU to the donors, 🙏 Tony & Scott, 🙏 Kat Alexander, and all donors who support our efforts. Your kind donations helped us pay almost all of Tui's medical costs. Thanks for making a difference! ✨️🐾❤️

Our floor tile project is complete! ✅️
Our guys have been working hard on this all week. They did such a great job. It looks fantastic! 👏👏

Our dogs love it! Cooler for them to lay on, and will be so much easier to clean. This big area is dedicated to our paralysed, disabled, recovery, and small dogs. We've made them an adjoining outdoor area too!

🏥 𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘: TUI's surgery was a success today. About 10 masses were removed. Unfortunately, there are still some small masses at the ventral area and hip that need to be removed, but the surgery was too long, so the most important masses were prioritized today.

The diagnosis on the hard mass near the p***s appears to be a testicular mass. It seems Tui had cryptorchidism (retained testicle) before, and the mass wasn't removed during castration. So this mass still needs to be removed too.

We're hoping for the best now, but since it is cancer, there is unfortunately a possibility of recurrence.

Due to the lengthy surgery, our vet recommended an overnight stay for IV fluids and to ensure a smooth recovery. Post-operation care is crucial because the surgical wounds are mostly in the ventral area and there are multiple wounds. We'll keep Tui in a dry, restricted area with special care once he is back with us.

💸 We unfortunately have not yet received any donations for Tui. We need to raise 8,000-10,000 Baht ($220-$275 USD) for his surgery and treatment costs. If anyone can help us cover these expenses we would truly appreciate your support. 🙏

🏥 𝙎𝙐𝙍𝙂𝙀𝙍𝙔 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙏𝙐𝙄 🏥
We had our shelter dog TUI in at the vet early this month to check multiple inflamed looking sores on the underside ventral area of his body, and face.

The cytology result showed he has 'squamous cell carcinoma', which is a rare form of skin cancer in dogs. Tumors are found more frequently in light-skinned, hairless, or sparsely haired portions of the skin, which is what Tui has.

The recommended treatment is surgery to remove the multiple ulcerated masses. He might need chemotherapy too.

Tui also has a hard mass under his skin near his p***s. The vet is not sure yet if it is cryptorchidism (retained testicle), a testicular mass or something else?

Thankfully his chest x-ray shows he has no tumor metastasis, and his blood profile is good too.

🏥 Tui was admitted to hospital today to perform the surgery. The surgery cost is estimated to be between 8,000 to 10,000 Baht ($220-$275 USD) to remove the multiple masses. If anyone could help us out with a donation to help cover Tui's medical costs, or could sponsor his treatment, we would be so grateful. 🙏

👏 We’ve been making great progress on our shelter improvement projects this month. We’re now moving onto our 5th construction project! We’ll now be floor tiling another of our indoor sections.

A HUGE THANK YOU to the SK Group for helping us achieve this project with their very kind donation of a truckload of floor tiles!! We’re so grateful for the generosity of SK and also the anonymous donor, and longtime LCA supporter, who contributed with costs and arrangements. We can’t thank you enough!

😻 𝗪𝗘 𝗕𝗨𝗜𝗟𝗧 𝗔 𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢! 🐈
Our construction team has been busy the past few days creating an outdoor enclosure for our cats. (Yes, we have cats too!) They did an amazing job! 👌👏👏

We currently care for 11 cats at LCA. Most were rescued locally, and some were sadly abandoned by their owners who never returned after we agreed to temporarily board them. 😑😔

Now, our cats can choose to relax outdoors in their new catio or stay indoors where they’ve been living. We introduced them to their catio yesterday, and they are thrilled! They have a donated tree to climb, scratching posts, hiding holes, a sofa, and high shelves to enjoy the view. Lucky kitties! 🙌

We’re looking to find homes for 7 of our rescued cats. Our staff have fallen in love with the other 4. 🥰 If you’re looking to add a feline friend to your family, please message us for more details. We'll do another post soon of the adoptable cats too.

We’d also love donations of cat toys and other suitable items to make our kitties even happier. 🙏

Feeding time is always a hectic time at LCA with so many mouths to feed! 🐶🐶🐶

Our shelter dogs eat over 700 kg of food per week. That's 2,800+ kg per month! 😯

Our food costs alone are around 86,000 Baht per month. 😓

We're always grateful for food or financial donations to help keep us going. If anyone would like to contribute... rice, dry kibble, minced meat, and vegetables are always appreciated. 🙏

Our purebred British Bulldog, 'Snow' got some chew treats today to help break his boredom and put a smile on his face. He gets lonely being in a kennel on his own. He doesn't get along well with most other dogs though. We wish he could get a loving home. He absolutely loves people! He's so playful. Snow has been with us for 3 1/2 years now, after we rescued him from living 24/7 tied to a chain. 😔

If you think you can handle this strong boy and could give him a forever home with lots of love, please send us a message. Snow is a big softie underneath his tough exterior. All he needs is love, and someone who understands him! ❤️

Preeya returned to our shelter a few days ago, after her dental procedure. She has settled back into shelter life, happy as always, enjoying attention and cuddles whenever she gets them. Preeya is a hot favourite with our team. She's such a friendly, easy going dog. She'd make a wonderful pet. Perfect house dog! 👌❤️

Preeya will have a follow up check-up in a couple of days to re-check her blood and anemia. We'll schedule her for her next dental surgery as soon as she's strong enough.

🏥 'Gigi' went for a trip to the vet today to get a big lump on her leg checked out. The vet will check the cells to get an initial diagnosis but it's unfortunately looking likely to be mast cell tumour (cancer). We'll have the cell test results in 1 week.

Following that, surgery will likely be needed to remove the lump. Then also tested to determine if the tumor is low or high grade, to know how advanced the cancer is.

Such a pity for Gigi. She's only around 4 years old. Please pray for her! 🙏

A big THANK YOU to Knight and Matthew from Stamps Hostel for visiting our shelter recently. They enjoyed their tour, and spending time with our awesome dogs. 🐕✨️ Their visit was to prepare for their upcoming regular trips to LCA, which they’ll be offering to their guests as a fun activity and a scenic drive out of the city. Our dogs will benefit too, so it's a win-win! Knight will be back this weekend with his first group of volunteer guests! We can't wait! 𝗦𝗨𝗖𝗖𝗘𝗦𝗦!! 🎉 We caught our first field puppy on our Padaet mission today. Woo-hoo!! 🎊 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗦𝗺𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗲! LCA & AAAS volunteers have been gradually earning the trust of this group of stray pups, visiting daily with treats and food, and socialising them for the past month! 🐶🥰 The bamboo trap cage was set up by WVS last week to catch the many stray adult dogs, so we can get them sterilised. That's still a work in progress. We're also using the cage to coax the puppies in. This little guy, 'Smoothie', was the first brave one to enter. After a checkup at the vet, he's now warm and cosy in his temporary foster home. Who can give this little cutie a permanent home? 🏥 We had an 𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 today with one of the 9 field puppies we have been helping. This tiny boy has been missing from the pack, just appearing today. Our volunteer feeders found him very ill, and rushed him to the vet hospital. 🚑 He has a herniated rectum! Parvo infection is suspected, as this causes severe diarrhea, therefore straining to poop. The initial tests done were negative for parvo but his bloodwork shows he is very anemic and dehydrated, and has high white blood cells. It's difficult to get the necessary stool test for parvo as his rectum has prolapsed, and has started to die. 😔 He is now being monitored in hospital to see if he improves. The treatment needed is surgery, but he is still too weak. Thankfully he has started to eat.
