‼️ Transmissible Venereal Tumor (TVT) in Dogs ‼️
We received a report about a young female dog (named White) who has a tumor the size of a fist and an open wound around her ge***al area. When our team arrived, we confirmed that she had TVT ⬇️
👉🏼What is TVT?
TVT (Transmissible Venereal Tumor) is a contagious tumor in dogs caused by cancerous cells that can spread from one dog to another through direct contact, such as mating or sniffing the ge***al area. This disease most commonly appears on the ge***al area and face.
👉🏼Symptoms of TVT
-A tumor in the ge***al area, appearing as a moist, red mass that often bleeds
-Persistent wounds around the ge***als, sometimes with unexplained bleeding
-Tumor growth may spread to the mouth, nose, or eyes if the dog licks the infected area
-Other symptoms include lethargy, weight loss, or other health complications
👉🏼Major Causes of TVT in Rayong, Thailand
One of the main causes of TVT cases in this area is the use of contraceptive injections in dogs. Additionally, allowing TVT dogs to roam freely and neglecting proper treatment further contribute to the spread of the disease.
👉🏼TVT is Treatable
The most effective treatment for TVT is chemotherapy, which gradually shrinks the tumor until it completely disappears. This disease can be permanently eliminated if we work together to stop using contraceptive injections in animals and instead opt for spaying and neutering.
Let’s join forces to create a safer, healthier community for both humans and animals!
