Based in Wok Tum on Koh PhaNgan, PACS provides medical care to the stray, temple and wild animals of the island. We have a dedicated neutering and vaccination program carried out with the help of volunteer vets and vet nurses. PACS provides daily hospital care for many animals who require daily medication, and also out-patient care on "house-call days" where the nurse traverses the island attending to those who need less regular care/treatment.

This month at PACs was full of brave little fighters 🐾

From 40 dog and 67 cat sterilisations to 25 life-saving surgeries for wounds, amputations, and emergencies, plus over 100 rabies vaccines, our team has been hard at work keeping the island’s animals healthy and safe.

Every treatment tells a story of hope, healing, and care. Thank you to everyone who supports our mission. Together, we’re making Koh Phangan a kinder, healthier place for all beings. 💜

Every sterilisation counts and these numbers show real change. 💜
The first half of the year, our PACS team has sterilised over 420 animals, averaging around 70 each month. That means hundreds of litters that will never be born into hardship fewer sick and injured animals on the streets, fewer fights, and less disease spreading through our island.

While most people focus on females, male sterilisation makes a huge impact too. 🐾 Male dogs and cats can father dozens of litters every year, and neutering them is faster, easier, and just as essential in keeping our community healthier and rabies-free.

These numbers also show the ongoing need. Even with this many sterilisations, new animals appear every day some abandoned, some born to unsterilised strays. It’s a reminder that our work can’t pause.

Every week counts, every surgery matters, and together, we’re making a lasting difference for Koh Phangan’s animals. 💜

Thank you for your continued support,
The PACS Team

There are no words big enough for this loss.

Momma wasn’t just another dog at PACS, she was part of the place itself. She was the boss, the soul, and the one who made every day feel complete. Every morning she waited at the gate, tail wagging, eyes shining, ready to walk in with us like she always did. She’d lean in gently for pats, or actually more demand them with a nudge.

She grew older alongside us through the busy days, the quiet nights, the endless stream of new faces. Everyone who met her felt it that calm, steady strength. True to her name, Momma was the boss of this place. She wasn’t the easiest to win over, It took time to earn her respect and love, but once you did, her love was everything. It was the most genuine love you could ever imagine!

She came to PACS back in 2016, not alone, she arrived scared but brave, dumped outside our gates with her three tiny puppies. We named her Momma for a reason. She cared for her little ones with everything she had, and thanks to her courage, all her babies found homes of their own. We still know them today. But Mama… she stayed with us. No one ever came for her, but honestly, that was their loss because she was the most amazing dog.

On the night of the 24th to the 25th of September 2025, Momma was hit by a car and left on the side of the road. We wish more than anything that she didn’t suffer. Losing her this way — it’s something none of us will ever forget. It was cruel. Undeserved. Unfair.

The mornings now feel empty. The gates are too quiet. We still look for her out of habit, expecting to see her standing there like she always did. It’s hard to accept that she’s not coming back.

Momma gave us everything she had — her love, her trust, her loyalty. We’re all feeling her absence in every corner of this place. The truth is, PACS just isn’t the same without her…

Momma gave us years of loyalty, warmth, and love. She watched over us just as much as we watched over her. Losing her has left a hole that nothing will ever fill.

We’ll keep her memory close and forever in our hearts.

We love you, Momma. 🕊️♥️

Every sterilisation saves lives, but did you know neutering males can make an even bigger impact? 🐾

While female sterilisation stops unwanted litters, male dogs and cats can father dozens of offspring in a single year. One unneutered male can be responsible for hundreds of puppies or kittens, continuing the cycle of overpopulation and disease.

At PACS, we see the results of our sterilisation work every day, and it’s what keeps our island rabies-free and our animal community healthier. By sterilising both males and females, we’re not only reducing suffering but creating a safer, more balanced environment for everyone.

Life on the streets isn’t kind.
For street animals, every day is a struggle, dodging traffic, fighting infections, living with untreated wounds, and searching for scraps to survive. Many carry old injuries or illnesses that would go unnoticed without help.

That’s where PACS steps in. We’re not a shelter but we’re a small animal hospital doing our best to make street life a little safer. When an injured or sick animal is brought to us, we give them the treatment they need to recover — pain relief, surgeries, medicine, and care from start to finish.

Once they’re strong enough, they go back to their familiar area healed, sterilized, and given another chance at life. It’s not a perfect world, but it’s one where compassion can make a real difference.

Every treatment, every sterilization, every recovery counts.
Together, we can make life on the streets a little less cruel — one patient at a time. 💜

A small act of kindness can make a big difference.

Today, PACS volunteers went on a rescue mission after receiving a video of a varan trapped with a can stuck on its head. Luckily, our team acted fast and saved the little guy, another life freed, another reminder of why we do what we do.

Carelessness and ignorance can cost lives, and right now, our island dogs are paying the price. There have already been poisoning cases from Thong Sala Beach up to Tikki Beach, with at least 4 dogs dead.

Please stay alert, pick up anything suspicious, and dispose of it safely.

If you see a dog showing signs like bleeding, vomiting, shaking, or collapsing, get help immediately. Quick action saves lives.
Let’s protect our community together. Share this message and stay vigilant.

For nearly a year, Brad and Joanna were at the heart of PACs. Day after day, they gave their time, energy, and care, showing up not just as volunteers, but as part of the family.

Joanna, learning and growing as a vet nurse, poured her compassion into every patient she touched. Brad, with his steady presence and willingness to help wherever he was needed, became a quiet pillar of support. Together, they carried so much of the daily rhythm here, and their impact will be felt long after.

Though their journey now moves in a new direction, their chapter with PACs will always remain. We’re deeply grateful for everything they gave, and we know that wherever life takes them next, they’ll bring the same dedication and kindness that defined their time here.

Thank you, Brad and Joanna. You’ll always be a part of our PACS story. 🌍

Love,
PACS Team 🐾

✨ In Memory of Moomoo ✨

Moomoo came into PACS at the end of 2019 with severe mange, tick fever, and fungal infections. He was really poorly and it took quite some time for him to get better. Because he was so sick, no one wanted to help him, and he had no safe place to return to.

Already an old boy, he slowly found his strength again with us and in the process, he became the heart of PACS. His coat never fully grew back, but that never mattered to us. We adored him just as he was. His grandpa zoomies made us laugh every day, and with just a single bark he kept all the other dogs in line.

If you gave him time and a little convincing, usually with the help of croissants, he would let you into his heart. And once you were in, you were in for life. Loyal, gentle, and stubborn in the best way, he showed us what it meant to truly be chosen by a dog.

On the 10th of September, we had to say goodbye to our beloved Moomoo. His absence leaves an emptiness that words can hardly describe. We loved him so dearly and miss him immensely.

He will forever hold a place in our hearts the prettiest boy who ever wandered our grounds. ❤️
