Even though the elephants' main diet is greenery, we give to Boon and Gaga some yummy treats like bananas, carrots, corn and rice balls. They love it 🍌🌽🥕💕

🐘☀️UPDATE – 6 months recovery 🐘☀️
Six months ago we discovered Kaewta (aka Gaga) and Somboon (aka Boon) in a very worrying state of undernourishment and weakness, due to the health situation and lack of income.
We have made it our mission to help save them and give them a better quality of life.
During these six months, 442 of you joined us on Facebook and 264 on Instagram 🙏🏻💕
Thanks to your support, the generous donations we received and the help of the locals we were able to:
- Build a shelter for Gaga and Boon to protect themselves from the sun
- Build a fresh water pool so that they have access to water when they want to drink or shower
- Enclose the living space of the elephants in order to be able to remove the chains from them for several hours a day and let them move around free
Last but not least, we were able to bring them quality food in large quantities which allowed Gaga and Boon to gain weight and regain better health and a lot of energy!🍌🌴
We were also able to help the local community, very affected by the health crisis, by buying food from small shops and by making local businesses work.
None of this would have been possible without your support. ❤️🐘❤️YOU ARE AMAZING – THANK YOU SO MUCH❤️🐘❤️

Saving Giants opened it's doors as a sanctuary today, we couldn't be more excited and proud 🤗
Our guests today did many activities with Jhon and Im (our mahouts) Boon and Gaga.
The elephants enjoyed our special Rice balls with pumpkins and bananas. Super tasty and healthy for gaining weight.
It's important for our elephants to have a balanced diet. today they had lots of fruits and vegetables : carrots 🥕 corn 🌽 watermelons 🍉 pineapples 🍍 and of course their favorite.. bananas🍌.
After a tasty lunch, it was time for a muddy scrub.. mud and fun made everyone very happy 😀
Gaga and Boon were washed down afterwards, looking good and super clean! Our guests did an incredible work!!

We never saw Samboon and Kaewta so chilled and happy. It was amazing 💜🐘

We finished our half day at the sanctuary with an adventure around the mangroves: we kayaked, we explored caves and enjoyed the nature around us 🐒🦎🌴

Saving Giants next move: to create profit to sustain the care of the girls long term. Our next move is to set up humane, riding free tourist attraction that will allow us to teach people about the dangers of animal tourism in Thailand.

We are hoping to attract the types of visitors who are not interested in supporting places that offer elephant riding.

Ever since we started this project our goal has been to create a safe place for the two elephants to live without being subject to abuse.

This shelter is essential as it will give the girls a proper roof over their head to rest and escape the sun. This post is to ask for the towns help. We are in dire need of funds. We’ve already paid for the majority of the materials - but we still have to fund the labor costs and the roof.

When you donate you get a personalized thank you of your name with one of the girls, we can even do it with your companies logo! Here’s a breakdown of the list

20,000 baht roof
46,000 baht labor
2,600 baht remaining steel

Work in progress 🤩 here you can see the crew welding different pieces of steel together for the elephant shelter! Not only is this great for the girls, but your donations are paying these local workers for their time. Recycling back into the local economy 💕
