Have you ever wondered why dogs sometimes look at you when taking a 💩?

Dogs are pack animals and have the instinct to look to their pack leader for guidance and direction. When a dog is going to the bathroom, they are in a vulnerable position and may look to its owner for reassurance and guidance. This is especially true when the dog is in an unfamiliar or potentially unsafe environment. By looking at their owner while taking a poo, the dog may be seeking reassurance that they are doing the right thing and that their owner is still there to provide protection and support.

WALKING YOUR DOG IN THE HEAT ON HOT SURFACES - 🥵🐶🐾🔥

It is important to always be mindful of the temperature of the ground when walking your dog, especially during the hot summer months. Here are some signs to look for to determine if the ground is too hot for your dog's paws:
Dogs regulate their body temperature primarily by panting, but they can also cool down by sweating through their paw pads.

If a dog's paw pads get too hot, they may not be able to effectively cool down, which can contribute to heat exhaustion or heatstroke. In addition, hot surfaces such as pavement, sand, or asphalt can burn a dog's paw pads, causing pain, discomfort, and even permanent damage.

Touch the ground with the back of your hand or barefoot. If it feels too hot for you to keep your hand or foot on it for more than a few seconds, it's likely too hot for your dog's paws.

Observe your dog's behavior. If your dog is lifting their paws frequently or seems to be walking gingerly, it could be a sign that the ground is too hot.

Check your dog's paw pads. If the pads appear to be red, swollen, or have blisters or cuts, it could be a sign that the ground was too hot.

Walk your dog during cooler times of the day, such as early morning or late evening, to avoid walking on hot ground altogether.

Consider using protective booties for your dog's paws to prevent burns from hot surfaces.

Hard to think of my Jack Russel as being a messenger from the God of death! 👹

Kukur Tihar (also called Narak Chaturdashi, Nepali: कुकुर तिहार) is an annual Hindu festival originating from Nepal which falls on the second day of the festival of Tihar (around October or November). On this day, people worship dogs to please Yama, the god of death, as they are considered to be his messengers. Dogs are decorated with tilaka and wear flower garlands around their necks. Worshippers offer them various foods including meat, milk, eggs, and dog food. It is considered a sin if someone acts disrespectfully to a dog on this day.

In 1925, diphtheria affected an isolated village in Alaska. Due to the severe cold, it was not possible to transport the medicines by plane and ship, so the transport of the medicines to the town of Noma was organized with the help of mushers (guides or drivers of a dog sled team).
About 1120 miles (1800 kilometers) had to be covered in five days. There were several teams and they took turns on different sections. The Norwegian Gunnar Kasen and his main dog Balto were the first to bring the serum to the village.
It turned out that Kasen had not made a mistake in choosing the main dog, because when the team had an accident, Balto helped his musher, saving him from certain death.
When the storm reached its peak and visibility became low they crossed 85 km. Balto is considered a hero, and in 1925 a monument was erected to him in Central Park in New York.
He was truly a hero, like all the other dogs during this mission. However, the dog that did the most difficult part of the work was Togo who crossed the longest distance 260 miles (418 kilometers). He was part of Leonardo Seppala team of dogs. Togo is the husky, in the photo.
