Tris needs a home - just as with humans sometimes dogs develop allergies later in life.

When I first got Tris he was a puppy, he was adopted and then years later the person gave him and his brother back.

Last year we discovered that he has now developed allergies and now needs to be on medication for the rest of his life.

He sneezes and gets itchy with Sahara dust etc. So just like some humans who have to be on Allegra etc Tris will have to take allergy meds once a day.

I don't want to euthanize him as its being suggested because the reality is who is going to adopt him and I can't afford to keep him at the clinic much longer.

SNOOPY UPDATE:

GRIEVING AND ALONE AT THE NOW EMPTY HOME HE ONCE SHARED WITH HIS ELDERLY OWNER. .... PLEASE HELP WITH OUR SOLUTION (see below)

About 2 weeks ago someone reached out to Venus Doggess Of Love for help with this case.

Due to inevitable life-changing circumstances, Snoopy's elderly owner is no longer around to care for him. He grew up with her since he was a pup, so this was a sad parting and he is grieving.

Alone at the home they once shared, someone comes to feed Snoopy daily ... but that is not enough. Until he is adopted, he needs companionship.

VDOL has asked the person who reached out if we can remove him from the property and place him in boarding (where Scrabble and Toffee are). At least he will have people around and other dogs to play with ... until he is adopted.

Boarding is $300TT a week.

If anyone is willing to contribute, please contact Venus Doggess Of Love.

ALSO...if you or anyone you know can offer Snoopy a loving, safe, responsible home, please connect with us asap.

"How do you calm down a dog scared of fireworks? There are a number of measures you can put in place, both before fireworks start and during, to keep your pet safe. Here are a few of our tips:

*Know when fireworks are expected so you can prepare early.
*Ensure your pet exercises beforehand, as a tired and well-fed pet can be less anxious.
*Supervision is important to help prevent your pet from escaping or injuring themselves. If you aren’t able to supervise, consider making arrangements with someone who can.
*Keep your dog inside if possible. This will not only reduce the sound of the fireworks for them but also ensure they don’t run away.
*Create a safe, quiet place inside with a comfortable hiding place, and close blinds to reduce visual stimuli. Pets will usually show their preferences for hiding places, such as in wardrobes or under the bed. It is best to allow them to go where they feel safe.
*Use music or the TV to mask the noise.
*Remain calm, perform normal activities and avoid fussing over your pet as this can encourage anxious behaviour.
*Distract them with games, favourite toys and treats.
*Don’t punish your pet for being afraid. This is a normal reaction and punishment can lead to their behaviour worsening. It is best to offer comfort and use distraction techniques.
*Ensure your fence and gates are secure and your pet can’t easily escape through, under or over them.
*Ensure your pet is microchipped and details are up to date, in case they do escape.
*Gradual exposure and positive reinforcement to help desensitise your pet.
*Speak with your vet about treating noise phobias through behavioural programs and medical options."

While fireworks to us might be symbols of celebration, to our pets they can be terrifying. Here is our guide on ways to calm your dog during fireworks.

Top tips for pet safety

Many people enjoy the booming sounds and flashing lights of fireworks, but they can be terrifying and overwhelming for pets—and possibly hazardous.
-Make sure that your cat or dog has somewhere comforting to hide such as a box, crate, or somewhere they feel safe to retreat to.
The loud noises and bright flashes of light can be very frightening to animals, and many animals become highly distressed. This can lead to animals running away, going missing, injuring themselves, and becoming susceptible to traffic accidents.
Planning ahead is key. Create a strategy for your animals.

Making sure your pet has company with other animals where possible, is kept inside, and has proper identification are just a few easy ways that you can ensure the safety of your animals.

SPCA’s top tips for pet and livestock owners
-Never let fireworks off close to animals.
-Stay home with your pet – they will be less stressed with someone they trust close by.
-Keep them indoors – they won’t see the flashes and the bangs will be muffled. Close doors and windows and draw the curtains. Turn up the volume on your radio or TV to help drown out loud bangs with familiar sounds.
-Make sure that your cat or dog has somewhere comforting to hide such as a box, crate or somewhere they feel safe to retreat to.
-Try a compression wrap for dogs, like a thunder shirt.
-Exercise your dog early in the day to avoid being out during dusk when fireworks could be set off.
-Both cats and dogs should be microchipped and have a collar and identification tag with your contact details on it. If your pet panics and runs away, it will help to reunite you with your pet.
-Try to behave in a calm and reassuring manner. Take special care of elderly or nervous pets but try not to cuddle your pet too much as this may encourage anxious behavior.
-Never punish your pets when they are scared. This will only make their fear and stress levels worse.
-Move horses and farm animals away from fireworks. Make sure all fences are secure.

New Year celebrations are around the corner. Here are some tips for caring for your pet during the fireworks festivities. 🐾🐢🐱

Keep Pets Indoors:
Don’t bring your pets outside during the fireworks ! Loud pops and booms could easily startle your pet and cause them to run away.

Provide A Quiet Place:
Prepare a place for your pet such as a quiet room, pet carrier, or crate to help them feel secure.

Give Them Distractions: Toys, Purina Treats, Soothing Music:
Purina Treats & Toys may help keep their minds busy and distract them from the fireworks.

Microchip & ID Your Pets:
Your pets should always have proper identification tags, with up-to-date contact information.Microchipping is also strongly recommended and make sure information is up to date too!

Walk Your Pets Earlier In The Day:
Some Pets may be too frightened to go out once the fireworks are popping and this will be a good way to tire them out so that they can rest later.
