February is National Pet Dental Health Month!

Did you know dental disease is one of the most common health issues in cats and dogs?

Regular dental care can prevent painful infections, bad breath, and long-term health complications.

Signs that an owner may notice -
1. Reddened/swollen gums
2. Bad breath
3. Dirty teeth, especially the "cheek teeth" or molars
4. Not eating as much or as quickly as is the norm
5. Preferring softer foods over harder foods
6. Drooling excessively (for dogs that are not already prone to drooling)
7. Rubbing at the face (could be mistaken for rubbing the eyes)

Join us this month as we share weekly tips to keep your pet's smile healthy and bright.

Call us at 📞 342-1460 or 716-6633 to schedule your pet's check-up today!

Healthy Eating for Pets: What to Avoid for Dogs and Cats

Keeping our pets healthy starts with what’s in their bowls!

Certain foods can be harmful to both dogs and cats, leading to serious health issues like pancreatitis—an inflammation of the pancreas that can cause vomiting, abdominal pain, and loss of appetite.

Avoid risky foods and ensure our furry friends stay happy and healthy.

By providing a balanced diet with lean meats, fresh veggies, and pet-safe treats, you can ensure your pets stay healthy and happy!

Let’s work together to keep our furry companions thriving!

Bond with your cats through play, and help them exercise too as a bonus!

You should monitor them during play with certain toys. Toys that have long strings or cords, or have pieces that can be chewed off should be left with your pets unsupervised.
This can have you end up in the emergency clinic with your pet.

Also, some cats can get a little frustrated after 'catching" the laser pointer but there is no reward. Focus the laser on a toy that they can actually "catch" as a reward for their hard work, or you can give them a treat!

A pro-tip --- use a liquid ear cleaner, like Veterinary Formula Ear Therapy, to help dry out the ear canal after a swim.

A great low-impact workout for dogs - Swimming!

When swimming with your pets, be careful with pets that love water. If water gets into their ears, they can be prone to ear infections.

Pro tip: Use a liquid ear cleaner, like Veterinary Formula Ear Therapy, after they go swimming to keep their ears healthy!

Consider using an inflatable life vest for your pet; some of them love the water if they're supported.
